Man, I PRAY that I make this kind of an impact on my step-daughter. She doesn't have to ask me to adopt her, although that would be awesome...but just for her to know I love her, and for her to love me like this.
Take some advice. I have been there. As they grow they will use that against you, as teens, they will be mean sometimes. Just hang in there bro. My stepdad was the greatest father in the world. We had him for just over 50 years before we lost him. I love and miss him everyday. He couldn't have been any closer to us if he was blood. We saw our biological father twice a month, but our stepfather was dad and always will be even in heaven.

I cry my eyes out every time I see videos like this. It‘s such a great honor to be asked to be adopted. My biological parents did not care much for their children and thus I had a pretty shitty childhood. I don’t know how it is to have great parents. I wish I would. Now that I’m a parent myself I try my best to give my child everything I was missing as a child.
We don't know the situation. The biological dad could have died, or was driven away by his ex and her new man. I'm only 28 and seen friends driven away from seeing their kids by a psycho ex.

This man has a heart of Gold and a spine of Steel. This is what a "Real Man" does, when they are presented with life-changing decisions and opportunities. Hats off to you Mr. MAN. God bless you and your family abundantly in health and wealth.
I became a single dad when my son was 4. I raised him & put him through college on my own. This reaction is precious because it shows that genetics does not define fatherhood. I'm 61 today, and a hardened Marine. This video made me cry just as hard as he did. Thanks for sharing this beautiful moment! There's way too much ugliness in the world....God bless!!
“A dad isn’t defined as the man who makes the child, but rather the man who raises and loves the child with all his heart through anything. Blood doesn’t always make a man a dad, being a dad comes from the heart.” God bless this man and his SON ❤️
Everyone talking bout how sweet this was. Why isn’t anyone talking about how this man was so gentle with everything like wth. I don’t think he ripped a single piece of anything.
My stepdad never adopted me but he's was the most positive impact in my life. I think of him everyday l love that man more than life itself until me meet again.
Your father, being a sensitive person, may well have not wanted to intrude on your most personal reality. I never told my father-in-law that I loved him.. He knew, I knew he loved me, but we couldn't just say it. It would have been tears for both of us. I'm an old man now and I know that your were a source of pride and joy for your dad. Be well young man.
Papers don't mean much, the love does. One should take care of their parents, be there for them as old age sucks being alone, living close to them so that you are there for them in an emergency everything counts in what sort of values you pass on to your kids as well. One day we won't be around, how do you want the people you know to remember you? I think that's all that counts.
My daughter had five children before she married my son in-law. He helped her raise my grandchildren. Although he has not adopted them, he has done everything else under the sun, for these kids. I love him dearly. I couldn't ask for a better man for my daughter and my grandkids! Love you, Carl K. 💕
The frame contains a picture of the two of them with a poem that says Some people would say you’re not my real Dad but we know this isn’t true .. For you’ve been a Real Dad to me in all the things we’ve been through. We’ve had our ups and downs sometimes its hard to bend .. But you’ve always been there when I needed you and that’s what matters in the end. You’ve been patient, kind and firm over the years as I’ve grown .. And I’m eternally grateful to you because you’ve treated me as your own. Although we’re not tied by bloodlines the Love and Trust you’ve given me .. Is a precious gift, day after day and that’s what counts as a Real Dad to me. So let’s just make it official...
Angela Hasty Wilson That's very cool...you should pin this to the top for people to read along with in the video. Goes to show we need to see beyond the surface of our fellow men, regardless of politics, religion, whatever. It's the heart that counts
OMG you're killing me! I have two "step kids" as their daddy left 3 years ago and has other interests. He sees them in the summer only now. I have split custody of my own two kids, and spend 90% of the time with my GF's kids. I wonder if they would do the same...…….I'll just continue to love and imitate your love. Thank you soooooooo much for sharing!
I never had the best relationship with my stepdad because I was already in high school and the way he tried to raise me was foreign to me. After I graduated and moved out, it just sort of hit me that, even if I didn't like it, he tried his best because he cared about me and that's more than what my biological dad ever did for me. I'll never call him dad, but I do look up to him and see him as a mentor.
Yeah same situation with me except my dad was still in the picture, and was extremely nice and a great dad. When my stepdad married my mom he started to become extremely strict, which isn’t bad necessarily but he was an awful parent To me and my biological and half sister as well. They tried to pay some of my college tuition to kind of in debt me to them but I said no and haven’t spoken to him since.
Woah, thanks for sharing. I'm just curious, have you ever expressed or talk about your feelings to him? Seems like the incredible little things that one can do and change everything.
youparejo I tried when I was a younger but most of the time the response was “that’s not how the world works” or “ I’m teaching you how to be a man” or “ I’m not here to be your friend”. So yeah he made it clear that he didn’t really want a good relationship unless It was that of an owner and his dog.
I don't have step children (2 biological), but to all you fellow fathers out their who have step sons and daughters, my hats off to you. To take someone who isn't biologically your own and love and raise them with the same love and compassion takes a real man. Keep it up fellas
His reaction was priceless. That’s how you know when a man is father material. When the step-son or daughter asks them to be their father, you know he’s doing right in their eyes. Beautiful Father’s Day video. I cried from beginning to end. Keep making your family proud, sir!!!
0:06 I really like this part, where they both go for the same joke at the same time. Just a subtle display that these two are truly family. It's a beautiful video.
Your Daddy you dont always have to be tough. Being „tough“ and keeping all feelings, good or bad, to yourself is what’s causing the high suicide rates belong men in comparison to women
The nerves on the young mans face as he waited for his step fathers reaction is both touching and heart wrenching ❤ Bless them both ... The way the young man smiled the second the Step Dad cried happy tears, my heart ... the voice at the end though, saying "you can use your pens," 😂
The look on the son's face as he waited for his Dad to read... That was priceless. He was so shy about it, just patiently waiting for his DAD to accept him. And, of course, the Dad did...in a beautiful way. Just goes to show that even after we grow into adults, we never stop desiring to be loved by our parents... We want to know that we come from someone. Even grown, there is still a child within us who just wants to be loved.
+Michael B-Oh yeah, it's amazing that no matter how old you get, your parents can often reduce you back to a tiny little kid in a puddle :D and no matter what, we always want our parents' approval. And why not? Our parents are our first providers and also our very first best friends, they'll be our best cheerleaders and our biggest defenders for the rest of our lives. Even though this Dad wasn't the one biologically related to this sweet man, the Dad is still his dad in every real way that counts: he's probably been always been there for his son, never gave up on him, was always his best friend and biggest supporter, and to the son, he wouldn't want any other Dad either. He just wanted to make it official while still being incredibly nervous the entire time. And it was probably the best gift he could've given his Dad as well-he clearly loves his Dad very much and he wants everyone to know that this man is truly his Dad. :*).
at first i thought the first card he opened was the adoption papers and i was like “hes not even crying that much” and when i realized it was just a normal card i was like ooooh this is gonna be good
I'd give anything to have a dad that got that emotional because he wanted me that bad. I'd give anything to have a dad to love in the first place. These videos help me cope.
@ chunky but funky I thought the same thing while I was watching it. my dad died when I was three and I've never had even a father figure in my life, even my grandfathers and uncles didn't step up or even try so yeah I get emotional when I watch these things but its nice to see!
I grew up in SC and NC so I was used to seeing a lot of houses like this. They are very warm, folksy and comfortable right down to the creaky hardwood floors. :)
That made me cry! I was told when I was 22 that my dad wasnt my biologic father. I didnt care cause the man that raised me is the best father I could possibly have. My bioligocal I tried to write and get to know he said he cheated on his wife with my mom and would destroy their lives now if she found out and to never contact him. I said oh well cause any man can birth a kid, it takes a real man to admit his actions and take care of one.
Hats off in front of these people who raise someone's else kids. They are responsible and mature enough to understands that kids don't have any fault it's just that their biological parent is a coward(male or female)or in the worst case is dead.My respect👏
Patricia W So real men are idiots that take women's burdens on as if they helped to create them? Are real men also guy's that pay all a woman's bills, and never ask to pay for going out?
It's not about taking on a woman's burden. This kid probably has a dad that didn't give two shits about him. Sometimes there are men who are willing to step up and be a father to a child who just simply needs a father. And for no personal gain other than doing something good in this shitty world. You must have gotten severely shit on by some women judging by your general outlook. I have been shit on myself. But you have to look for the good in our grim existence otherwise what's the point of it all?
Christopher Briscoe The real man in my case is my husband, who adopted our oldest son, whom was the product of a rape. He fell in love with our son the moment he saw him. I can see your point of view that he took another burden, but the point is that he was never asked to do so. When we started seeing each other I lived in an appartment with my son, was self sufficient, and even made a point to make him aware that I didn't expect anything from him concerning my son. The conversation was something along the lines of... I'll never ask you to help with him, but if you choose to be involved I only ask that you show him equal love to discipline.. he looked at me like I was crazy and said he already was in love with me and my son. We've never had a follow up conversation. 16 years later we have four boys total, we've always contributed equally to our home and children. It was our oldest that brought up the adoption, he wanted the same name and to not have to answer questions about his dad, cause those questions made him and my husband angry.
Christopher Briscoe There are women that will take advantage of a nice guy, my mother is one of those women, and has had no contact with my brother and I in years because we know the type of person she is and hate her. Always be careful getting involved with single moms and remember, there's a reason that they are single. Not all women are men are bad, there are good people in both ends. This man, is probably just as my husband and just took over everything he saw there was a need for the boy, expecting nothing in return, that's a special person!
This reminds me of when I asked my dad to officially adopt me last year on Christmas morning, I have never seen my dad cry in my life until that very moment, I love him so much
I watched this year ago and cried when he cried and his son hugged him, i watched it again and cried even more..this is beautiful..i wish all birth dads would be as loving as him, and he wants to be his dad, that is precious..i love this video❤
caveman Versace don’t worry, that’s the first thing the rest of the pussies in the world would have thought as well. I bet you wish your dad stuck around, then maybe you’d understand life a little better. You’re gonna die one day, and how much money you have will be irrelevant, you’ll just have the experiences that you lived and that’s it.
Because only a strong man can be gentle. To be gentle is to hold back your strength. You're gentle when you hold a baby in your arms, for you are withholding your full power so as not to hurt the child. And so you find, those with true strength - of not just body, but soul and character - are the gentlest people on Earth. And it also takes a real man to cry - you're not weak doing so. Also, it takes a real man to be a dad. Any old idiot can father or mother a child. It takes a real man or woman to be "Dad" and "Mom".
That big guy is a marshmallow inside. What a beautiful gift of love which is obviously reciprocated! Congratulations to you both. (I cried during this, too!)
I am just crying about this wonderful moment.... Only real Men can show their Feelings like this. Sending Love to this wonderful Family. Cherish each other.
@junker jones sorry but to me that is stupid. If you love people and the woman and your a family that dosent matter and money is not that importend. There is more to life than that. And just because of own bitterness or bad experience or bad life decisions you dont need to question others happiness. A comment like that is a waste of time. They are happy and i support that. Negative comments are just jealousy of other peoples happiness. You are responsible for your life. Commenting negativ on something so postiv is really bad and a nogo charakter. If you are alone and unhappy i can really understand why.. So bad....
@dungoist Yes, I was being a jerk, but I myself is both a step-parent and step-grandparent. I know how it is. It hit home to me. I also have a stepson from a former relationship 30 years ago who lost his mom and we are still friends to this day.
@dungoist Wow, Captain Literal. You must be a blast at parties. And no, I'm not implying that you'll explode at social gatherings. To add to nukeman444's (who probably doesn't own nuclear weapons of any kind) sentiment, I think the downvoters should consider having either a heart installed or their heart upgraded to include an empathy chip. But then again, every dog has it's day-even hateful ones.
I don't care what a video is about there are people who will down vote just to to do it. It could be a baby sleeping for 5 seconds and people will hate it. Its just what society has turned into. I think a better solution would be spade or neuter them instead. They shouldn't have the right to procreate. No sarcasm either.

We don't know the situation. The biological dad could have died, or was driven away by his ex and her new man. I'm only 28 and seen friends driven away from seeing their kids by a psycho ex.

I like the young guy’s natural fake yawns to mask his emotions. I do that as well
I do that to stop my eyes from sweating.
My son does this too, he’s 27, he starts to fake yawn when we are leaving him to come back home. ( He lives out of state) =(
Same!
I hear dogs also do that when nervous
It’s common to yawn when you’re anxious or nervous about something
“A dad isn’t defined as the man who makes the child, but rather the man who raises and loves the child with all his heart through anything. Blood doesn’t always make a man a dad, being a dad comes from the heart.” God bless this man and his SON ❤️

We’ve had our ups and downs

But you’ve always been there when I needed you

OMG you're killing me! I have two "step kids" as their daddy left 3 years ago and has other interests. He sees them in the summer only now. I have split custody of my own two kids, and spend 90% of the time with my GF's kids. I wonder if they would do the same...…….I'll just continue to love and imitate your love. Thank you soooooooo much for sharing!
Who cares about blood, love is the strongest connection between people... I'm happy for you and your family. God bless you.
" But fuck that I am not calling him dad"
Same!!! Takes a lot of love to be a step parent!
I don't have step children (2 biological), but to all you fellow fathers out their who have step sons and daughters, my hats off to you. To take someone who isn't biologically your own and love and raise them with the same love and compassion takes a real man. Keep it up fellas

You told the pure truth. That child remains throughout our life. Thank you for saying that it really hit home with me. Your wisdom is cherished.

^I would start by learning how to spell.
After all these years... This one is definitely in my top five... His reaction was priceless😍
The greatest honor a step dad could possibly get. Says a lot about the way you raised him. Good job Dad

caveman Versace Wow, you’re an idiot
No...you're a dude. That, that is a man. :)
caveman Versace don’t worry, that’s the first thing the rest of the pussies in the world would have thought as well. I bet you wish your dad stuck around, then maybe you’d understand life a little better. You’re gonna die one day, and how much money you have will be irrelevant, you’ll just have the experiences that you lived and that’s it.
That is the sign of what a "Hell of a friend/dad/step father/good person" looks like!
Why always big guys have soft hearts like babies?
Because only a strong man can be gentle. To be gentle is to hold back your strength. You're gentle when you hold a baby in your arms, for you are withholding your full power so as not to hurt the child. And so you find, those with true strength - of not just body, but soul and character - are the gentlest people on Earth.
And it also takes a real man to cry - you're not weak doing so. Also, it takes a real man to be a dad. Any old idiot can father or mother a child. It takes a real man or woman to be "Dad" and "Mom".
Because they have been holding it back since they became big.
Bless God your brother!
