Definitely had me in tears if only for his brother's reaction. My youngest son is high functioning autistic, but it took 16 years for us to finally have him evaluated and diagnosed because he doesn't fit with the "typical" autistic child. He is EXTREMELY social and we discovered when he was 15 that theater is his jam. He's wanted to be a film maker since he was very young, but we found out he's an amazing actor who can memorize with ease and never gets stage fright. Does he have other issues due to his autism? Yes. He can still get overwhelmed. He decided on his own to go get counseling (super proud of him for that). He's getting A's at the community college and is involved in their theater program. And he's one of the sweetest and most compassionate people I've ever known.
It's a spectrum disorder, so they always show in different ways. One of my best mates is on the spectrum, he's a neuroscientist, married, with kids. He's just a real character, which is why we all love him.

I haven't cried, yet my throat is sore
Love his brutal honesty and comedic timing with his brother. His family must be so incredibly proud of him
Why? Just because he is autistic? I am autistic. The vast majority of us are more than capable of doing stuff like this. There's no reason to be anymore proud just because they are autistic. This is so ableist and it infantlizes us.
@@lunaloveless7234 I wasn't saying that they should be anymore proud of him because of his autism I am married to someone on the spectrum. I was saying that they should be proud of him for facing his own fears as he himself identified in his speech. I didn't mean to offend you or anyone else that is on the spectrum.
This kid has been loved dearly throughout his life. THIS is what REAL FAMILY LOVE looks like. THIS IS WHAT REAL FAMILY LOVE DOES FOR A HUMAN.🙏
He's adorable to say the least, in every possibile way: using irony as an instrument of coping is telling how many battles he's fought and how strong he's become. Lovely
@@johnfisher8401 some individuals with asd may struggle with figurative language and irony, but high functioning ones are capable of comprehending irony and it seems he does, or at least to me 😉
Why make a comment like that?
@@johnfisher8401
What a shameful thing to say😪🤫 . It's pretty clear that you are ignorant. Personally I would be embarrassed if I were you.
I kinda wonder if you have low self-esteem or perhaps a bully cause you were bullied, that or there is something spastic that you hate about yourself. Either way human being kind to yourself is being kind to others. Love you love others instead✌
@@johnfisher8401 if your attitude is "who cares anyways" then why watch enough of the video that you even recognized there was irony? just to show the world how and what ugliness looks like? Well if that is the case and you are a decent person then thanks for the literary visual education
@@johnfisher8401 perhaps yes, perhaps nope, I inferred it was his own work and he could use and understand irony because I noticed he was smiling right before saying a funny thing (knowing what it was about to come) and that he was laughing together with others and not after others (which may have meant he was imitating them).. but I agree with you, in the end who cares (although I wonder then why you wrote your first message... I swear, no incitement): this video simply moved me

My oldest son is autistic and this made me cry. The definition of bravery is to do something that scares you. You are a brave young man (and clearly the most handsome in the family!)
I am sorry that your son is Autistic and I offer my condolences and sympathy for that. I just curious what you think of the theory that some people have that Autism is caused by Vaccines? Your response would be greatly appreciated. Thank You,.
@@HoldenNY22 you don't have to offer condolences for other people having a son with autism. My son has autism and he is truly a blessing. He teaches me everyday more than I teach him. I'm autistic and this is extraordinary. It's so hard talking in public and for him to speak in front of that many people is awesome
You can do it to man! I believe in you.
@VVoOꟻF It's hard to say. Clapping and cheering I can manage but if I'm outside and a motorcycle starts up near me or loud music coming from a car I get a little perturbed. When you're autistic the older you get, the less of an effect loud noises have on you. Bring ina crowded environment is still hard though
@VVoOꟻF no problem. I enjoy people asking. It brings more awareness to us

@@koltonhavas6724 hi, my son is 9 and has autism. He used to have to leave the weekly family assembly at school, where merits were handed out, because of all the clapping and cheering. I’ve often wondered if things like this would get easier for him as he gets older. Thanks for sharing.
My son is also quite terrified of babies and toddlers because he associates them with crying. If he sees someone crying, he says himself that it starts a “chain reaction” and he just can’t help but cry himself. He gets so distressed when it happens. I hope this is also something that he can learn to cope with as he gets older. 😊
His comment about his future sister-in-law is exactly why he is marrying her. This definitely made me shed a tear, beautiful.

My son is 23 and has autism. He’s on the higher functioning side of the spectrum, like this young man. This fact that he can do this is amazing. My son was 20 before he told me he loved me without me saying it first. So the fact that he is able to stand up in front of people and say this, shows how amazing he is

@@ldlink3935 no it doesn't, he was offering a compliment that shows his approval, that he gets along well with her. That she seems to understand him and accept him, which is surely important to the brother. Sometimes, some autistic people feel like they need to try and "mask" when they're around strangers to fit in, but this was a way of saying that she is a person he can exist comfortably around and be himself. With my experience, people with autism are some of the most genuine in their words, and I think he was saying everything in the kindest, more heartfelt way possible to honor his brother's day. I'm an 28 year old autistic guy and I could easily sense his stress and sense the place he was coming from with every single word he spoke, which was from the heart. Even the choice of words and stuff is exactly like how I would have done it too. My attentiveness went straight to his shaking and pacing and I instantly knew what he was going through but he had a loving and supportive upbringing that it counters (positively) the things he goes through on a daily basis to this day!

This is the absolute best wedding speech I've ever heard (and I'm a preacher's daughter who has been to many many weddings in my day).
This kid nailed this speech! I don't know too many people, (myself included), who would be this composed and be able to put themselves out there like Sam did, let alone speaking from the heart like he did. If he was nervous, I certainly couldn't tell. And can we just talk about this kid's comedic timing for a second? Absolute perfection! Brilliant dead-pan delivery with a little sly, impish smile every so often! He had me in stitches!!🤣🤣 (Must be the Irish in him) 😉
