My husband Gus has raised my daughter Alexa since she was 2 1/2. After she lost her own father to gun violence in the streets of Philadelphia just a week shy of her first birthday. After 10 years of being her Dad in every way she finally asks him to make it official in this Fathers Day surprise video. Something he’s always wanted to do but wanted to wait until it was her decision. He had no idea and was totally shocked!
We have a son together, Noah, and we used him in the surprise. I told him the kids picked out their gifts for him on their own this year and each gift was personal. From kid to Dad.
We made him a picture book of just him and Alexa. Starting with the very first picture they ever took. And on the last page there’s a pic of just her holding a sign saying “Hey Dad! 10 years seems long enough don’t ya think?! Wanna adopt me?”

If you would have read the description of the video then your mind set would be different the 10 year old girl lost her biological father to gun violence don't get me wrong this video is so wonderful but she lost and won at the same time she lost because her father was killed she won because she has another one

@@coolin2382 no, the original commenter did not say anything about their father abandoning them.... he just said, this guy is a real dad, because he stepped up and was a good dad to someone elses child.
We adopted my son when he was 6 months old, he is 3 now and still doesn't know that we arent his biological parents, even though he is black and we are white. I worry sometimes about him as a teen pulling the "you arent my real dad" card lol. But every night, when he goes to bed, he says "I love you dad." So I'm not too worried, he is my son whether he likes it or not lol
As someone who was adopted as a baby, I don't think I'd ever say to my mom that she wasn't my real momz because she is. I don't know any adopted kids who were adopted into loving households who would ever pull that card Because to us is simply isn't true, no matter what disagreements we may have
Started being in my step son's (Andrew) life when he was 2 years old and had to be dad right out of High School because he had a deadbeat father, 17 years later, I have no regrets.
Now Andrews in the Marines, and I can't be more proud of MY son!!

As an adopted child myself who has suffered with high functioning autism my whole life, when I get frustrated, I pull that card sometimes and my parents know that’s it’s not true. And if he ever says it, he’s lying. You and your wife are there for him when no one else was, and he will love you for that.

YES!! I thought I was the only one who would notice that. However, I remember as a kid - that is something I would notice when my parents took that time, and that I felt when they (rarely) didn’t.

The daughter put so much work into this book and he really appriacted it and looked at all the pictures and remembered their moments together, it’s beautiful to see them treat each other so lovingly. (And props to the little brother who kept the secret!)

Most of the time, we praise these dads for coming into ready made families, and stepping up to be fathers. But the good work of the mum is on display too, when we see that the kids have welcomed him into the family, and supported the new relationship developing. so for the dad, to see these kids want to carry his surname, must be so overwhelming. This is a real man right here. Unfortunately I grew up without much of a father figure in my life. My dad wasnt around much, I only seen him a couple times a month. And when he was around he wasnt a good father. Instead of keeping me out of bad neighborhoods and keeping me out of trouble he put me on to it.
