I love that you also call the Mixolydian Pentatonic scale the "Jan Hammer scale" Chris Muenzner called it the same thing when I was a student with him a few years ago.
These Walls and The Bigger Picture are both really easy and sound great.
What a great ad for your lessons 😂
Yo Justin would you be interested in covering Cacophony solos? I feel there is so few lessons/videos in general about Cacophony solos
Another Day and Peruvian Skies are good candidates, those along with Wither are the only ones I can play
Wither actually were written by John Petrucci(one of few DT musics that only one member worked on), he talked about the difficulty of starting a new piece of music from scratch.
Awesome list i would also add barstool warrior it really helps you kickstart your alternate picking and is also very melodic . Love your content bro
Perfekt, kommt genau richtig!
I already played Pull me under and Wither!!! So proud. Gonna try the other ones. Vielen Dank für die guten Ideen in diesem Video!
Der Matrix-Einspieler 😂 ich kann nicht mehr, geil Justin!

Best ad I've ever seen
hey man how many guitars do you own im curious can you show us your collection love your channel its helped me a lot with my speed keep up the good work
Wasn't wither written Petrucci in him trying to convey writers block. Portnoy announced his departure much later, he did say the video shows a lot of the band as being exhausted due to touring.
By the way, love your videos.
I cant even play the diary of a madman solo, im so screwed
Lines In The Sand is pretty easy and REALLY good
And so is Repentance
Guitarchampion!!
Which Petrucci Solo did you learned so far?? Let me know in the comments
Full list is: Pull me Under, Wither, Another Day, The Spirit Carries On, Under a Glass Moon, This Is The Life, and On The Backs Of Angels. It's not much but honest work :)
Another day and the overture 1928 solo. 1928 piece is so funky and very satisfying to play. A nice change of pace from the more neoclassical and death metal stuff I’m usually into!
Can you make more vids about Micheal Romeo
Nice vid. You totally missed the last solo in Ministry of Lost Sould though, I would have loved to see that at #1. That solo is very melodic and has a lot of accurate bends which is difficult in its own way. Check it out and let me know what you think!
I'm pretty surprised about the lack of Repentance and, first and foremost, Lines in the Sand (which also easily my favorite JP solo of all time). Good list nonetheless!
Lines in the sand is pretty long to be an easy solo with a lot of more intermediate phrasing in it. Repentance tho is really quite easy, :)
I think the easiest ones are like the solo in scarred or glass prison
i think the solo in repentance is easy and incredible.
Repentance, Anna Lee, Peruvian Skies
There are a ton of easier Petrucci solos like a change of seasons, learning to live, count of tuscany, octavarium outro, barstool warrior
I wouldn‘t call any of these „easy“ more intermediate. The length of some solos, the parsing, Octavarium has some pretty complex runs in the end etc. 😅 But they are the perfect intermediate solos
Agreed. Both the Count of Tuscany and Octavarium solos have complex runs mixed with easier phrases. In addition, especially the Octavarium solo, you have to get the bends and timing just right to get the original feeling - it's not just about replicating the notes.
Was expecting Another Day. Another easy one is Goodnight Kiss.
The last run of another day is a super tricky 2wps run that even Petrucci never got really clean.
And getting the phrasing right is also quite difficult 😬
But Goodnight Kiss is a good example ;)
@@justin.hombach Another Day's intro solo though....that is probably the easiest period
Kirk Hammet inspired Legato run? Are you shitting me? Noooooooo
Najaaaa, Metallica war mit Sicherheit ein Einfluss und dieser klassische Pentatonik 15 12 17 12 run habe ich jetzt mal als klassisch „Kirk Hammet“ zu geordnet 😜
What's about repentance solo???
Isn't that easy??
Oh yeah, that‘s a good one too :)
If this is easy , I don't know what hard means ?
Difficult to hear all these solos are for "beginners" :)
Yep
You might feel better watching Rob Chappers interpretation of what beginner is
Bro doesn't know what a beginner is anymore 🤣 love you Justin but wtf, beginners can't even think of runs like those or these dynamics..take "these walls", that's beginner level, sorry newbies, it's for intermediate++ 😅
😂😂😂😂
@@justin.hombachhey years of grinding will do that to you I get it, this stuff seems pretty basic now eh 😅
The silent man is easy ...
Repentace is pretty easy yet one of his greatest solos ever.
