I loved this "guide", so I am now a subscriber to your channel. I am a native of NYC, and a resident of HK for nearly 10 years now. Did you give any consideration to the impact of the Westies on HK? The gang's zenith of power was the 1960s through 1980s. Just something to consider... I look forward to watching more of your fine work!
From the comments I have read....I don't think they really know the depth and detailed effort you have presented here. I have lived in Hell's Kitchen for almost 30 years and I am saluting you for a Job so extremely well done....Much love
Thanks very useful for. I just arrived in NY last week a I‘m going to work for the next 11 Month. So with your videos I can explore NY much better and can show the places to my youtube subscribers. Greets Frank
I needed to hear that last bit about Daredevil. The gritty, gloomy atmosphere of its setting turned me off from looking up Hell's Kitchen until today lmao.
lol. If you have watched the show, the bar that they frequent was filmed at the Turkey's Nest in Greenpoint/Williamburgs (which is actually a nice neighborhood). A lot of shows these days are filmed in Greenpoint and Long Island City.
Great Thea, Hell's kitchen is my second favorite area to walk, after the lower east side. The hotel i stay at is on 47th between 7th and 8th, so it's very handy, one of my must stops is the Landmark Tavern on 46th, across from the Intrepid, a quick refreshnent then walk the Hi-Line. Keep the videos coming, Thank You
Tbh, there are other stories of where the name comes from and there's no clear evidence to prove any of them. But it was for sure long before Gordon Ramsey 😅
Very informative video!.can you do some more vlogs in Staten island, newark, jersey City, Bronx , and Brooklyn soon? Have a wonderful day beautiful lady😘😘😘 xox
Thank you again for a great video. I‘ll stay at Hell‘s Kitchen for one week next February. I almost watched all of your videos. Very comprehensive and ideal for a first time visitor like me. Keep up the good work!! Ps: Gangsta‘s Paradise 😉😉
Actually in this 'race' to be the winner as the highest priced city, isSan Francisco is the winner for being THE most expensive city in America! NYC my favourite American city is still 'cheaper' than ritzy snobby Attitude By The Bay!
lmao hells kitchen was empty last year 2022 during the free train days... All them dudes were up in Harlem and on the trains having wild nights... You know, all them colorful flags you got? This city was wild honey, a history thats gonna be quickly swept away. If youre really from NYC I am sure you seen what many dudes were doing on the trains... Whos gonna make record of that history??
I remember the early 1980s and riding my bicycle through Hell's Kitchen. Before I entered, I made sure I had my U lock on one hand in case I got jumped. You say "not so dangerous". You have no idea.

I feel the same about my hometown Chicago, there are some very resourceful videos out there.
Great video! Love the details and views of current buildings!
Thank you! ☺️ At some point we'll cover all of New York.
I've always associated Hell's Kitchen with Gordon Ramsey! Thanks for clear that misconception of mine!

I hope you have great trip! Thank you for watching 😊
Hells kitchen used to be a mafia playground. Now it's a Disneyland.
story of manhattan
The Mafia mostly stayed away when I lived there. It was Irish gang territory - the Westies. But the Mafia and Westies worked together occasionally.
Better than being a ghost town like many cities in the Midwest and in the south
This was cute and informative! Thank you 👍🏽
Glad you liked it!! Thanks for watching. 😊
great vid thanks
A few years ago the real estate developers tried to change the name to Clinton Hill. That would have been terrible.
The movie west side story was based in that area
omg finally new vid😆
😂 Thanks for being here!

In 1860 Which slum do you think was worse? Five Points or Hells Kitchen?
Gosh they're all bad. Who could really say?
@@UrbanCaffeine are you from New York Thea?
I feel like Five Points was a lot more dangerous around that time, but they both were pretty rough.
