Great video, exactly what I wanted to see as a 36m owner. Only thing I would have like was to hear it and see comparison to long version as well.
36M ejecting at ~2:30, Velos ejecting at a comfy 4 o'clock. Very nice!
Thank you for the video. I was sold on the Surefire 556 and the guys at the Sig shop convinced me that the Velos was the way to go.
This is perfect! My sbr is currently running a short 36m and I just bought a velos myself
finally a real review of the velos. idk why nobody else got this. been thinkiing about this one after shooting the huxwrx flow since i don't want to have to unpin my ASR mount lol. this should be much nicer than my omega 300.
Good review. Was actually the exact comparison I wanted as I also own a 36m. I'm pretty sure SilencerCo made the velos beefier to allow more channels for the gas to flow through and compensate for some of the sound reduction loss because of the flow through tech.
Can never judge sound based on videos
The ejection pattern tells the story. Very impressive.
Have you tried a rearden mount for it? Highly recommend
Flow through cans are the future in my opinion. It is hard to shoot high back pressure cans after you shoot these flow through cans.
I agree. I don’t want to put the 36 back on the 416. Id try it on something else or go the pistol route. Might be good on a 9mm sub gun. I’ll have to try it on the ne of my MP5s
@@Steve_MP5what’s the point of shooting with a can when you still have to wear ear protection? Completely pointless!
@@isaakjunkeer785 its still not a good idea to shoot without ears suppressed.
Even quieter cans will blast yours ears after some time. Also gas blowback isn't that healthy in the long run.
The flow through/lbp cans will still be quieter than non suppressed, its still doing its job as a can
@@isaakjunkeer785cans aren’t mostly used for sound suppression in combat. It’s for flash and sound detection. Harder to tell where shots are coming from.
@@sigma3survival162this. I'm real sick of the fuddery, if you are gonna drop a grand, file a 200 dollar tax stamp, then wait a year to get a silencer, how have you never encountered the actual use for one.
Will not make a gun silent, except under very specific exigent circumstances.
Thanks for the comparison, also a 36m owner and shopping the Velos.
I am curious if the Velos front cap would offer anything to the 36m or other suppressors for that matter, or if it requires the flow through design of the Velos to be of any use.
Great video!
I have the SilencerCo 36M & LOVE IT! I was curious what size end cap you were running through the 36M during your testing?
You said that the Velos might have been about the same and sound suppression. I would’ve liked to have seen you run the 36M and for configuration. My next silencershop is going to be the Velos or one of the other low back pressure companies like OSS. I’m a SilencerCo fan but want to see the Velos vs the OSS.
I was using the 5.56 (.224) end cap.
Awesome video!
Any idea on when SiCO may have a flow through 7.62?
No idea but I’d imagine it’ll be following up sooner than later.
This test can be improved with an adjusted buffer weight, appropriate 556 flash hider 223 bore end cap for the 36m. in a 1 v 1 with appropriate test you would see that the 36m will outperform in flash signature and sound suppression, although the velos will win with less gas back at the shooter. the problem with flow through suppression is flash signature at night and slightly lacking sound suppression + price point.
Yep, definitely want to get Jay's numbers on the Velos - the elephant in the room is how does it compare to the Flow 556? The Flow 762 is the "meta" right now. If you don't care about low back pressure, get a Nomad L or Hyperion or whatever, but for those of us looking for a dedicated 5.56 can, the Velos has the better mounting options (Charlie ASR or standard HUB), lower price tag, and SiCo customer service/warranty.
Full disclosure: I have a HX-QD 762 and just submitted my Form 4 for the Velos LBP because the BOGO deal was too good to pass up. Now, I am just waiting for the Velos to clear (hopefully before this time next year) and my free* Omega 300!
The Huxwrx muzzle devices decided it for me; they're just not as good. I'm sure they work great, but they look awful and you're stuck with them.
Where did u find the bogo deal at?
@@shawnwinters4327 SiCo had it back in June, I believe. Keep an eye out for Black Friday deals!
The change in ejection pattern was pretty dramatic; it looked like it went from about 2 o'clock to past 4.
You can see a lot of flash coming out of at 36mYou can’t see any coming out of the Velos . I can’t wait till I get mine and I ordered a flash cap hider for my 36m You should get one. It will help out a lot.
I have a 36m and I think it's an excellent can all around. The velos is obviously going to have less back pressure or "blow back" than the 36m as it flow through. If that is the only measure we are judging then it clearly wins. That said, there is a pretty sizeable size difference between the 2 with the velos being fatter and longer than the 36m in the short config, and with them being roughly the same length in the long config. That is a big turn off to me for the velos, especially if suppression capability is about the same or better with the 36m, even in the long config. While there is definitely a need for flow through cans, especially for guns that are hard to tune or can't be tuned, their are still benefits to traditional baffle vs. 3d printed flow throughs such as rebuildability and cost. There are a good amount of guns that come with suppressed settings as well which pretty much negate the need for a flow through. My sig 516 10.5" sbr and Hellion have virtually 0 gas to the face when on the suppressed setting. Even my standard colt 11.5 inch do gun isn't to bad with gas with the 36m with just the addition of the LMT EBCG. There is some gas, but nothing I'd complain about and it's only when I'm shooting quickly. All that said, at this point, if I was going to buy a flow through, it would be the huxwrx flow 556k based purely on size.
Nice review and comparison. I plan to get the Velos. I'm also planning to get the Hybrid 46. Do you have any experience with the Hybrid 46? What's your opinion?
I have the 46 I use on my lever gun 45-70. It’s cool. I just haven’t used it for anything else.
@Steve_MP5 Thanks for the response. I'm planning to use it on my CMMG Banshee in 45acp and backup to my Omega 300.
It's crazy how much better the election pattern is with the Velos. Can you feel any difference in recoil impulse between the two cans?
It’s been a while but if memory serves it’s sharper with the 36.
Man if you don’t mind me asking what’s your set up in your rifle that thing is gorgeous
I did a video on it. Look for CAG 416 on my channel
I would love to get a Velos because it's hub mount but damm ONE Pound lol
Big girl, but she gets the job done! Just hit the weight room! Lol
Which was quieter? The 36M or the Velos LBP?
Let’s see the Velos vs 556 Flow
I ordered a 36M 4 months ago. So tired of hearing how fast form 4's are being approved. I'll be running it mostly on a Bergara LRP 6CM so gas is not a problem..I know I'm tired of waiting!
I'm really torn between the Velos, Griffin Dual LOK 5, Huxwrx Flow 556k and Huxwrx Flow 762 after seeing PewScience numbers
If you don't have anything, I would pick up a Flow 762 Ti - expensive but exceptional performance, can support your 5.56 and 30 cal hosts.
@@illestdomer2005 I was starting to lean that way more, especially with how well the Flow 762 performs on 5.56 guns. Only .30cal I have is a Vepr, and I'm not sure how concentric the threads are. I might grab a muzzle device and check alignment if/when I go the Flow 762 route. Worst case scenario I just bought myself a new muzzle brake/flash hider for my AK and can't mount the suppressor
@@illestdomer2005bad part is the flash due to the Titanium. I'm stuck between RBS 556k, SciSix, and a flow 556k
Griffin explorr taper mount or the one where you can add any mount. There specs are great, weight, length, decibels, no back pressure, no flash. Great can
@@DZ4295DBW apparently that basically goes away after around 200rds
I'll take the modulate 36m than a dedicated 556
Why have qd if it’s dedicated can you say will cut down on length and weight and be about same size and the 36
I already have the ASR mount on there so I’m not taking that off. And besides, I don’t need to worry about a direct thread backing off. Just simpler.
I have the 46m worst part about one one is all the extra add on are really expensive
I noticed plenty of dirty air around your face with both cans during the rapid-fire strings when the camera was fwd of you. The LBP had a little bit less but I wouldn't consider it substantial. I definitely wouldn't think it was enough of an improvement to warrant having an extra 5.4oz hanging off the end of the firing platform. YMMV.
I think a comparison with the Saker would be more beneficial as they are both designed for 5.56. 36M is a multi caliber can so of course it’s not going to measure up with bigger bore
But a lot of people run multi cans now.
Im actually between these exact 2 cans bcus i would like one to use with 308 and 5.56, but im also considering the velos (or hux flow 556) in order to do a better job with such a loud caliber. This video is exactly what i was looking for
The 36M gave off some gas but not terrible. The Velos looked like zero gas in the face. I have a 46M that is a good can but not for 5.56. The Velos is on my list of must haves. Finding it right now is proving to be a bit difficult.
Just got mine from capitol armory in naked/raw finish. Its an amazing can and was approved in 3 days
I want to see it tested by PEW Science before I pass any judgement on its sound performance.
Yea man this is low budget here! Lol. They both sound good! 36M long May have a slight edge of memory serves. Either way both are great just the Velos will be replacing this one based off blowback alone.
@@Steve_MP5 IMO, it doesn't matter how good it sounds if I have ammonia burned eyes... ALL supersonic 5.56 is going to be loud by comparison - give me that low blowback!
Long configuration adds 3 baffles not 2
I have the 36M and when I run it on a piston rifle Sig 516, CZ Bren 2 and Scar 17S I never have a problem with gas blow back in my face and a baffled can is quieter away from the shooter. I just do not understand how you are getting so much blowback with a piston gun when the gases don't go back in the bolt carrier like a DI gun and a piston bleeds off excess gas up at the gas port.
Because the vent can’t bleed off everything and there is a lot more to deal with than no can - it has to go somewhere and that is back into the gun. Look at the ejection pattern.
Main reason is probably that he isn't running the older, heavier HK spring meant for the SBR rifles. Or, alternatively, you could run a orange spring from SpringCo and get the same effect.
U should have done it outside lol.
I have both in jail right now 🥲
Bro you need to do these videos outside. Indoors does 0 justice
You don’t get a good idea of blowback outside with all the air moving around. Besides. The Velos was in jail at the time of this lol. 🤷🏻♂️
Why by a suppressor if it doesnt suppress? Im sure its "quieter than without". Like putting unleaded in a dragster it works but its not the intended!!
If i have to wear ear protection then its not worth it! Yea yea i know the action in ar platforms is enough noise to cause damage, depending on the caliber. Great video and great suppressors i almost bought the 36M. I chose a Sandman L
Compare it to griffin dual lok 5
I have both. I also have the Chimera, its better than both of them.
