You must have been sent from the Land Rover gods! My defender was blowing a fuse in the front headlight & side light this week, took your advice from a years old video of yours & looked behind the windscreen washer tank & lo and behold…a chafed wire. A timely video for me as a recent defender owner trawling through your tutorials, you never disappoint & honestly probably wouldn’t have had the confidence to actually buy one without your channel….and the workshop manual 😉 massive respect.
Great video mate. your hands are just like mine. Can never get them fully clean. Been using the connectors the heat shrink ones some are mental prices. Keep them coming boss. Spot on.
Tessa tape is what i think they tend to use on the looms, as for the burner/shrinker; am sure i've seen attachment for them that helps keep the flame away from the connector being shrunk.
I've had no luck making up those super seal connectors in the past. Way too fiddly and time consuming for me. I just use standard crimp connectors and adhesive lined heat shrink over them. I have a small car trailer to wire up a loom for so I will be trying out those ip68 rated junction glands next(up to 5 core which is all I'd need). I'd definitely like to try out these heat shrink connectors in future though . The hunt for proper solid waterproof connectors is never ending haha👍🏻
Battery heatgun milwaukee M18 BHG-0, been using it for this type of repairs for over 2 years And its totalt worth the money if doing heat shrinking on a daily basis. And always leaving it 100% waterproof, without daminging the isolation of the wire, Only downside is that its drain the battery fast
@@antondanielsson137 it does if you put it on high....which is the only setting that works. On low it's just a hair dryer. TBH I was going to buy the Milwaukee, but i got the dewalt free with an SDS breaker that I bought. I use a reducer nozzle to concentrate the heat and that's a big improvement for heat shrinking.

Excellent advice mate as always!
Good video mate thanks for your information 👍 👌
wow, that was quick upload today. You're the first.
@@trailerfitter2 top supporter mate hope u are well.
Brush on electrical tape is handy to have for waterproofing things, I use it on refrigeration equipment which is often cold and damp.

I've been using these since gods dog was a boy great things
Dewalt 18v heat gun, uses the same batteries as the other 18v tools and it melts the heat shrinks at just the right temperature

I've got the DeWalt....not quite as good as the Milwaukee, but does the job...great for defrosting frozen locks in the winter too👍
@@davidhull2060 does the dewalt also drain the battery quite fast?
