Is the Zhiyun Weebill S the perfect gimbal for mirrorless cameras and DSLRs? I was looking for a small and portable 3-axis gimbal that would work with a variety of setups, offer great functionality, work right out of the box and still be affordable.
Let’s take a closer look at the #zhiyun #weebills 3-axis #gimbal and see if it delivers!
Could this be the perfect gimbal for mirrorless cameras? You tell me.

I know this video is “older” but just know in 2022 it’s still helping ppl!! This was the exact review I needed thank you! You covered all the basis without it feeling rushed and without it feeling long winded. Great review!
It’s a beast of a gimbal for a relatively small price in a small package. After using it only for a few hours I already was completely in love with it.
Ed, I couldn't agree more. I think right now this may still be the most underrated gimbal on the market. Appreciate you sharing you experience!
Hey Sagi. I just wanted to say thank you for the content. When I search for a topic and you have a video on it, I click you first because you've earned my trust with honest reviews and a clear presentation. Thanks!
Excellent, as usual! You're officially my go-to guy for tech. Thanks for all the time you put into these reviews!
Thank you so much John! Appreciate the support 🙏🏻
Why were all your shots in slow motion? We need real time footage to see if there are micro jitters and other imperfects.
Someone else mentioned this. That makes sense. I’ll incorporate more with the next gimbal review. Appreciate the feedback.
That's exactly what I came on here to say. Need real time footage. Slow motion does nothing for me. The rest of the review is great though.
Exactly. Slow motion hides the jittery imperfection. I can use my Sony a7r3 camera without gimbal at 120fps and slow it down to 240fps with optical flow software and it looks just as good without spending several hundred dollars on gimbal.
I agree with the real time motion request. In the meanwhile, you can play the video at twice the speed in UA-cam if you want.
Also, no ibis no slowmo would be better to see the imperfections
👍 before your video even started, since your vids are always honest and on point! 👌
I’m super grateful for the support!
This gimbal is the reason why I am going to start NOW creating more content for my channel. When I had to do B-rolls I would use the gopro because of the really good image stabilization. But now, a new age started, now, thanks to this amazing product I, and you can step up your quality of videos to the very next level!
Amzing review! thanks so much, I wouldn't buy it if I wasn't watching this video!
love your content, you explain things well and make it easy to understand!
Gimbal looks amazing, but going to stick with the Crane M2 for now. Love it's portability and compatibility with the a6400 for quick vlogging. Keep up the great reviews!
That M2 is so good for the size. I'm reviewing it now. I really love it. What lens are you using with the a6400?
@@TechGearTalk I have Sony A6400 with kit Lens 18-135mm. Is The Zhiyun Weebill S compatibility with my Sony Kit Lens ?
Its 2020 and I just started collecting my money to buy gimble ❤ wish me luck 😄
Good luck - this is a fantastic value!
I'm so glad for this review. Keep it coming! :)
Appreciate you watching! Thanks for the support!
Bro.... you have one of the best photo/video related channels out there.... how do your videos not have a million views!! Keep up the great content... Its almost like having my own personal mentor!
Oh wow - thank you so much for the kind words 🙏🏻
Great review. Can you compare the SC with the S? Thanks.
Will do for sure Jessie!
Hey, Great Vid. Do you still recommend the Weebill S in 2021?
Yes
Yes .. and I bought it just yesterday.. the best at this price range
@@SameerBasar what’s the price?
Yesssss
@@minmagar3428 i brought it for ₹24,000
Thank u! Very useful for me! I’ve been waiting for this product for a long time
Super glad you liked it. Welcome to the community!
Hey Sagi, I did things a little backwards this time. Purchased the Weebill S for my Nikon Z6 after reading some Amazon reviews, and then I watched your video; glad I purchased it and anxious to use once it arrives. Thanks for the step by step informative video.
Zhiyun is pronounced Jhee Yoon more or less. Great video review Seguid!
Appreciate it Steven - thanks for the help 🙏 (Sagi)
....ummm...no... it's Jhee-WOON
@@garystackhouse5787 uh no Gary. I have taken a LOT of college level Chinese and Korean so no...Jhee Yoon is THE pronunciation.
Most was was shot in slow motion? Would prefer more realtime :)
That’s a good point - I’ll make sure to add more next time. I use more of my gimbal footage at 50% but I should account for those who don’t. Appreciate the feedback!
Tech Gear Talk Thank you that would be very helpful for me and the 24fps people! And no problem Love the content!
Thank you for the kind words and the support 🙏
What frame rate was this shot at? And it was slowed down by 50%?
Can we put nicon d7000. For this gimbal
Brilliant review just what I needed 👌🏻👍🏻
Always so informative! Thanks so much! Love your channel!!
So glad it was useful. Appreciate the support John!

What's up everyone?! I hope this review of the new Zhiyun Weebill-S helpful. Did you like it? I wasn’t sure what to expect from this gimbal because it’s smaller than others I’ve had, but the performance was outstanding!
NOTE: got some feedback from viewers. I should have show more real-time footage to show that I didn’t experience microjitters. I almost exclusively use gimbal footage at 50% speed, but other people do not. I will incorporate into future reviews.
Would this work for your setup? If you have questions about a particular camera+lens combo, ask me below. Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏
Sigh.....more gear to add to my wish list, you get to play with the BEST toys
This is a really good option. It is so small and light...I do get to use them.
At the same time, these videos are a lot of work :)
What was your experience, using the 90D with this gimbal. I have an 80D and I always thought that a camera of that kínd would be too heavy for a gimbal like this.
Thanks in advance.
I really love your videos.
@carlos Carrillo - well, it's a heavy setup, but the gimbal handled it with no problems. So as long as you're strong :) you'll have no issues.
They won't ship it to Alaska, not sure why, I'm guessing the battery WHICH is funny cause i can order the Zhiyun (Official) Weebill Lab 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer for Mirrorless Cameras lol!!! go figure.
Thanks for another great review! I hope the Aircross 2 / Weebill S battle is on the way 🙂
And it's so cool to see how your constant hard work and really high quality content make the the channel grow. Wish you all the best in that case! You really deserve to have a huge audience in tech world.
Appreciate the support! Yes, that video is coming!
Thanks for the review! can't wait to get mine!

very detailed review, been comparing all professionals reviewing this weebil-s and you are always my number one go to!
Super glad it was helpful 👊
Dear Tech, I really valued your appraisal of the Weebill S and I do think it's for me. I have been dying to buy a gimbal for my DSLR Setup which weighs in at 1.148kg and I am glad I waited. Your Cinematic Video take was sublime to say the least; I almost forgot why I was watching you. Super well done! Oh sorry, back to the review - Just sublime and sincere thanks to YOU, my new adopted friend..
I really appreciate you taking the time to leave some a thoughtful comment. Thank you for joining the community and for the support 🙏
Another awesome review! 👌🏽
Sagi, another excellent video! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much Glen - glad you liked it 👊
Amazing review bro! I just got it and loving the features.
CONGRATS!!! Glad you love it!
Another Great Vlog going to pair with a Sony A 6400 that you reviewed and I bought because of you. So Thank You Happy New Year.
I really enjoyed this, and I really like your channel! (and, the fact that you're in CLE and I'm in Akron is cool!) I'd love to watch a vid of your suggested set-up for this gimbal, as well as any tips/tricks. This is my first gimbal, so I'm getting used to it. Thanks! (Go Browns!)
That looks really fantastic as well. Something small would be more suitable for me. Fantastic review!
Glad it was helpful!
Will this work for the cannon 90d
SUBSCRIBED !!!! love this!!
Appreciate the support!
Hi Sagi, another super video with frank and honest feedback on the gimbal. Looks great and the price point feels right. Zhiyun are really coming out with great products with nice innovations focused on what creators actually need. This looks like a great pairing for the Canon M50. Cheers from the UK.
Thanks you two!
I really like the ability to change the position of the handle. It’s a much more compact orientation.
Yes, it’s definitely nice to see Zhiyun respond to actual needs.
This crushes it with the M50. I’m also testing the M2 with the m50. Less functionality, but SO small!!!
Look forward to your M2 review with baited breath Sagi.
I need more time! As soon as I win the lottery (which I don’t play) I’ll do this full time 😂🤣
I think this is a great product. I just bought the Zhiyun Crane 2 in used condition. It's easy to handle as well, but during shooting I thought "it could be a little more compact". I am really considering to sell the Crane 2 again and get this one. Thanks for the great review as always. Learn a lot here!
Appreciate the insight Mike. It’s amazing how we transitioned from payload to form factor.
Love my weebill S. I also have the transmission module and have a Sony ZV-E10 mounted. Have you had any luck with the Weebill S (either through direct connection to the gimbal or through transmission module) to control any sony camera functions? So far I have been unsuccessful in getting control over any camera functions. Just to be able to use the red shutter button would be nice.
Thanks for this amazing review, as always.
Does the Weebill S handle the canon m6 mark II with sigma 16 1.4 lens ?
thank alot i love your reviews!
do you know if i can use this gimbal for small camers? like the panasonic lx15? some gimbals cant when the camera is too small
Getting it...great review as always.👍👍👍👍👍
Appreciate it brother! Let me know how it works out for you!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been looking for a good stabilizer that can balance my canon 80D but it’s been hard. I’m glad to know that this equipment can hold my beast of a camera. Also would a microphone on the camera be in the way?
Great vid bro, as always ^5s
I always appreciate your support!
Good review, and thanks for sharing.
Super glad it was helpful Ron - thanks for being part of the community!
For an M50 MKII, would this be the wiser choice for vlogging/walking, or is it a little too bulky and/or heavy? Thanks!
Hi,
I was wondering if you think this would work with the m50mk2 and 15-45mm kit lens
thanks so much
Hey there, can you customize the trigger button to lock specific motors when you hold it, like how the trigger works on Moza Air 2?
Right now it goes into follow mode. The other modes use the toggle on the left PF and L, and the button on the back POV and VORTEX. I haven’t tried what you’re describing yet.
Great video as usual. Added to list of Gimbals to look at once I am ready to purchase
Thanks Billy. I'm telling you, the ability to switch the handle... game changer!
@@TechGearTalk Yea that is def cool. Specially for low footage as you mentioned
Nailed it. Or to fit in tighter spaces.
Nice video, great b roll. One question, do you know if the follow focus for the weebill s is the same as the webill lab?
Thanks Steve, appreciate it. I don't know if it's the same, but it's super smooth from what I've seen.
Really good review. Thanks
Thanks so much. Appreciate the support!
can you help me. I need to know if the gimbal support if attach battery grip to camera. I'm using canon m50 mii. Thank you.
Good work, 👍 Can you use and iPhone instead of the camera ? And witch is the latest model ?
Awesome video awesome review! 🙂
Super grateful for the feedback Christos. Hope it was helpful!
Are you able to see your LCD screen on the 90d while using the transmitter? I can't, only on the phone.
I have a problem balancing my X-T3 with 18-55mm and battery grip using Weebill Lab. I am considering to buy AK4500 as replacement, then this was launched. Does the weebill S can solve my problem?
I think I mentioned that. I had that exact setup balanced. Worked great.
Another great and helpful vid. Wondering though if it would be helpful to see video clip examples that were at normal speed as well as slow motion. Thx brother!
Appreciate the feedback Glen. I almost exclusively use my gimbal footage at 50% and I now realized I should have shown more in real speed to show that there were no micro jitters. Again, I always value constructive criticism 🙏🏻
Will you recomend this one for the Canon M50 with a EF-M 22mm lens ?
In comparison to the ronin sc, how about stabilization? I see upgradeability being a nobrainer for this one as it supports bigger cameras, thanks for another high quality content
I would say they are similar, but I like the handling is this one better.
Great video! Really want to buy this gimbal now haha, thanks ;-). One question: Do you think it's possible to keep the battery grip on your camera (we've got a 77D) when you put it on the gimbal?
Hi Wendy - thanks for the kind words. Depending on the gimbal and lens combination, yes.
Thanks for the reply and also for your suggestion on the gimbals. So this will work for the M50 with both kit lenses and other lenses as well?
Absolutely. You'll want a cage for the M50 if you plan on using larger lenses ua-cam.com/video/KESjvc4z4nA/v-deo.html
Thanks for the review! Does it work well with the BMPCC4k with a light lens?
You're very welcome Gabe. Yes, I have seen it used with the BMPCC4K.
Hi...Have you ever used any light weight set up with Weebil S like Sony 6300 with kit lens....I am trying to use 6300 with sigma 30 mm 1.4 but gimbal is vibrating...but with heavy setup is working fine...please suggest any solution....Thanks in advance.
Great info!. Being this is December 2021, how do you feel about it today?
I would want this gimbal, and with two young kids I could see a lot of use out of it. Following them around, at their level as they run around and play together, or as they learn to ride bikes etc.
I'm not really using my M50 for anything professional yet, mostly just a hobby. Current setup is the m50 of course, the kit lens, recently I got the viltrox adaptor so I can use the 18-55mm kit lens from my EOS 20D, and the 75-300mm lens I got for the 20D. I also inherited a 500mm Seimar lens from my mother in laws dad, and I have a cheap tasco telescope that i can mount my m50 on.
Eventually I want to get a better telescope that's capable of tracking objects in the sky. Not only would it be fun to explore the night sky in detail, but its really cool when I can share it with people. I have made a new channel with that idea in mind but it doesn't have much there yet.
ok now that it's two years later would you still recommend this? Also can you tell me about possible ways to mount my phone to any gimbal to use as a monitor?
Hi Love your Video. Which Camera/Lense did you use for the Studio part of your Video?
Thank you for the kind words. Using a Canon C100 MK II
Great vid
Hi great vid man..
Do you know if I can use it with a battery grip for the Sony a7iii? 🤔
Great review. The follow focus, is it a new module or is the Weebill S compatible with the older follow focus? And if so, which one?
Hi, I'm not sure if it's compatible with older FF modules because I don't have one.
Thanks for the great videos. Just subscribed. Quick question: What gimbal would you recommend with the Canon SL2 (200D) for shooting real estate videos indoors? Thanks in advance :)
Thank you for the support. This would be a fantastic option. Because the SL2 is so light, you can only use it with lighter lenses (which is fine) or with a counterweight. I really enjoyed using this gimbal. Hope that helps.
Hiya, I have the 90D with Sigma 1i8-35mm. Will this gimble be okay? I have s Ronin S snd loads of stuff doesn't work properly with jittery footage at 25fps. Its also a pain to balance and it kinda put me off gimbles and pissed me off aa it was expdnsive. Hope this gimble is better
subbed, super enjoyable video
Super glad you liked it and appreciate the support!
Hi Reference to the Weebill S Do you know if will suite any palm sized CamCorders?
Hey I use the SL2 with the sigma 18-35 - would this lense be too heavy / long for this gimbal?
Hi, again thanks for the recommendation I'm getting this unit for my SL3 camera :D Question: when using this gimbal, should we turn the Image Stabilizer off from the canon lens? How about the Digital IS in the camera itself?
Glad I could help. The best answer here is to test it. I've read conflicting reports with different gimbals and camera/lens combos.
Just ordered one! Thanks! :-)
CONGRATS!!! Let me know how it works out for you.
@@TechGearTalk Will do..will compliment my Crane 2 well.
Definitely!
Does the weight effect battery life ?
And is there any extra batteries for Weebill s and should we use them ?
Nice review. Can you elaborate a bit about the motion timelapse features of this gimbal?
Thank you for the informative video. My understanding of the wireless transmission module can only transmit 1080p @30fps. My question is does this mean my camera record settings has to correspond to 1080p or can I still record at 4k?
Hi Anthony - you can still record in 4K because you're only using the transmission for monitoring. Does that make sense?
Great Review. Thanks! I noticed the sensor spots-my Sony A73 & A7r3 are magnets for that too lol.
Might have been on the lens. Going to check today.
It was my lens - just wiped it off - all good again. 👊
Great video thanks for sharing 👍🙏
Thanks Adrian - appreciate the kind words and support!
Hello dear.
Is this a good option in March 2021.
Or there's anything better in the same budget?
Love from India
hi.And thank you for the detailed and comprehensive explanation
I wanted to know if he works well with panasonic lumix s1 & lens 24-105 (I'm sorry if you asked that already) thanks
You're very welcome. That might be too big of a setup. I have not tried it yet :(
Great review, as always!!! 👏👏👏. I'm considering upgrade my crane plus to weebill S. Let's see next months lol. Did you test the follow focus of this gimbal? That's an idea for a future review video 😊. Kind regards
They are always getting better right?
No, I don't ever see a situation where I would use follow focus for how I shoot. I'm not stable enough to use one hand on the gimbal 😂
@@TechGearTalk 😂. I agree! But recently I was in a show, the stage was amazing and my gf was filming with her iPhone x. I was trying to do hand held rack focus between her phone and the stage. The result: 10 shots, lots of warp stabilizer and a massive crop. I was thinking if, maybe, a gimbal with follow focus would minimize this caos situation. Just wondering 😂. Keep on with the amazing work bro!
The app wouldn't let me respond, so I'm trying through a computer. DM me a link on TW or IG so I can see the use case
how to choose the correct brushless gimbal motor size for my design? it depends the torque?? or the weight the company specifies?
Yeah-but…. I’m learning how to use my new Weebill S gimbal but having a frustrating time with PANNING! 1- is it normal, during panning, that as I horizontally turn the handle of the Weebill, the camera LAGS behind slightly? 2- I’m getting a rhythmic motion where the resultant video LAGS, then CATCHES UP in the direction of the pan, then LAGS, then CATCHES UP. I am turning the handle on a steady and slow rate (to the right for example). Quite frustrating.
seasoned photographer getting into video, and this was going to be my starter gimbal for 5d mark iv. I have every canon prime EF lense except a 24-70 2.8, but I do have the ef 24-105 f4, can it handle that with mark iv?
I really like your reviews, in fact I decided to buy the canon SL3 thanks to your review, I would like to know if this gimbal works for this camera, or would you recommend another gimbal?
It works very well with that camera (depending on lens of course). What lens do you see yourself using?
Hello, nice footage!
Does it work with a Panasonic HC 1500E? Thank you!
Hi thank you for the review ! Do we need to mount the servo-motor for the follow focus with a Canon 5D Mk III or Crane products are Canon-compatible and the focus can be done electronically through the camera ? I cannot find this information anywhere ??? thx a lot !
If I understand your question then yes, you can mount a follow focus and control a canon lens.
Is it possible to mount the camera in vertical?
I preordered from amazon on your link! Very good review. I think this thing will get used significantly more than my Ronin M.
Appreciate the support Rob! I'll tell something - in the past 3 weeks, I already used it more than my Ronin M!

Great video! Did you have a chance to try it out with the XT3 by any chance? I’m curious how stable it’ll be with a camera with no IBIS.
Thanks for the review!
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I mentioned it in the video. I was using it with the X-T3 and the 16-55 f/2.8. Worked great!
Tech Gear Talk ah I’ll have to rewatch it then, I missed that somehow! Thanks again! 🙏😀
No worried, glad to help.
Great review . Can you compare Zhiyun Weebill S vs DJI Ronin-SC in a future video
Thank you 🙏🏻. Yes, that’s a good idea - will do.
With the ronin sc the biggest lenses I have on my m50 is a sigma 16mm will it balance well and does have any restrictions like hitting the back with any titling and adjusting with the long heavy 16mm sigma lenses. Also would you agree the build of the weebill isn’t as durable as the ronin sc ??
It will work and balance. You'll need a cage ( ua-cam.com/video/KESjvc4z4nA/v-deo.html ) or a riser plate so that the lens doesn't hit the quick release plate. No restrictions.
I have no issues with the build quality of the WBS. I haven't seen the SC in a while, it is very well built for sure (but overkill for the M50 in my opinion)
Good work 📷
Thank you 🙏
Hi thanks for this video it is really helpful. I was happy when you said you managed to balance it with 90D canon with Ef 24 70. I tried to do it myself but the lens is so front heavy. It is not working with me. Can you please tell me how you do it…
Thanks again
Can I use it for vlogging
I purchased this particular gimbal using a Canon t7i camera. I'm having a problem connecting the cable from the camera to the gimbal. The t7i uses a Micro USB port and the Weebill-S appears to use a USB-C port?
The cables provided don't seem to provide a proper one. Have you noticed this problem?
