  • This is my Handheld Focus Pulling Setup (Vaxis Storm 800 | SmallHD 503 | Tilta Nucleus M)
My favorite part is powering the Vaxis from the SmallHD using a Sony L battery with DC Out + DC to Lemo cable.
Goal was to make something with spare parts I already had, quick release, and keep minimal weight.
    Rig Parts (Smallrig):
    Cheeseplate
    Leather Nato Handle
    Short Nato Rail
    Slim Nato Rail (70mm)
    90° Nato Monitor Mount
    Nato QR Clamp
    Nato SmallHD AntiTwist
    Camvate Baseplate (for quick release)
    Kupo D-Ring Screw for Strap
PowerExtra Sony L Battery + DC Out
DC to 2pin Lemo Cable (Alvin Cables makes a 90° one)
    Short SDI Cable

I mainly use a Cine7 for focus but it looks cleaner for the video with a 503

@@philmmedia1 Gotcha. I have a 702 touch but looking for something smaller to run around with, with a Bebob micro 43wh. I realize the 702 touch is only 3.5 oz heavier than the 503 though so kinda rethinking it. 503 is much stronger build quality. I’ve always loved using them. Originally wanted to pick up a 503 and 1303 this Black Friday but it’s probably gonna be one or the other since the sales are so much worse than last year cause of the global supply chain headache. Looking to source a teradek Sidekick II somehow too as most sets I’m on are still using 3rd gen teradeks and not 4th gen

@@FreshSqueezedLightning 1303 is tempting as a focus monitor. I got the 1703 for client so I will save the 13 for next year write-off.
702 is good too just no lemo, however the DC to DC cable is even easier for the Sony DC out with a 702 Touch.

Hey Philm! Thanks for the video--really digging your setup and hoping to build a similar one myself. I was wondering if you had links for all these individual parts? I'm having trouble tracking down the right parts needed, and also wrapping my head around how you put it all together.

Hi Philm I really like your setup for Nucleus M. I've subscribe to your channel waiting for new videos and ideas. I would like to do something similar. Could you tell me what exact cheeseplate did you used specifically to attach to the focus knob and how many screws did you use. I'm having such a hard time finding something compatible and I don't like the rosette grip Tilta is selling. Thanks a lot for sharing!
