WPL D12 Aluminum Wheels from ALIEXPRESS contain this FATAL FLAW..!!!

- When I seen these aluminum rims on AliExpress I fell in love. Solid aluminum, rubber tires and even foam inserts. These wheels are made for a 1:10 scale cars and trucks with 12mm hexs. Included in this set are adapters that allow these to fit the D12. The issue is that the front wheel adapters do not account for a 1/4 inch of play in the front right and left wheel pins. Please watch this video in full before you purchase these wheels for your D12. These wheels can work, but you will need some extra parts as explained in the video. These washers are a great idea to take up the wheel play, and it also gives a little more weight to the front which is good for the truck's steering to be more stable. Very good work 👍

I messed up and bought some beautiful rims and tire...but they were HUGE!! I just put them on a crawler and drifted it!😂
Looks pretty cool pimping out a bongo truck, sucks the fitment and you had to make modifications but good work getting them to work
I love this little truck.! I have another one here, but I've hacked that one to bits and made into an FPV Track killer...😎🏎 I had a body kit for one of these and nothing to put it on. That was useful and now know 1/10th size wheels will fit. I have some drift ones in my shed and will see how hard to get them to work. I have printed some converters to 12mm hex and now need a outer washer for the screw. The screw that might be an issue even for me.
For 1:10 scale cars these cant be beat.! 25US is a killer price for these super substantial aluminum wheels. I am super happy with the end result. Even if it took a few extra steps to get things to fit. Many thanks my friend.!

BangBad descriptions SUCK: "it fit for this only". they have zero clue and they will NOT give specific measurements. with a model aircraft, they were calling a display stand "landing gear" if ya can believe it. I'd rather pay an extra dollar or two on something through eBay because you get a better 2 layered return policy between eBay and PayPal.
for drifting a D12 these are much easier to deal with, direct fit
(not much for selection but same diameter, hard slippery etc)

Got mine. No way they'll fit. Included 12mm hex. But the hex is way bigger than hex on the wheels. The wheels were like 9mm
I would think with larger wheels it would need a lower gear ratio.
Most of the time... yes. In this case probably not... it just isn't that big of a difference. At the very least I gained a few mph. Many thanks for the comment.!
some 3D printed hex adapters would be nicer to deal with, they could slip on and stop just short of the bearing, then the wheel just fits to the 12 mm hex shape at the end.
the side slop, you get a little of that with the plastic rim drift wheels too that are a direct fit to the 5 mm stock hexes. definitely recommend the metal spindles for the front, straighter than the plastic ones and plastic to metal at the bearings is kinda funky. also the plastic rim drift wheels are same diameter as stock, so the body kit sits 1/4" from the ground when installed. the face of the plastic tread is a round profile, won't snag as much on slightly rougher surfaces when running it.
printed adapters.. they'd be a 12 mm hex floor about 1 mm thick with a center hole, then the walls built up 12 mm hex outside and 5 mm hex inside. the outer 12 mm hex made 6-7 mm tall, then 9-10 mm round the rest of the length with the 5 mm hex hole continuing... you could easily adjust length and bevel the edge of the adapter where it meets the bearing using a file, so a little extra length (a mm?) isn't going to hurt much. I don't have a printer but the design idea is really really simple.
I really want a printer.! And for this exact reason. Need a part, design the part, write the program, print the part, install the part and off you go.! I am 1000% in lock step with you on this one. The reason for this video is that this listing actually stated that this would fit the D12, and it does not without extra parts and some serious troubleshooting prowess. I got mine to work as seen in this video, but it took a lot. I needed to make this video into a warning video. Many thanks for the great comment.! I really enjoyed reading and responding.!
@@AMAZINGRC in reply to another, posted link to the plastic rims+tires that are a direct fit. plenty slippery for my gearbox+motor setup, gearbox has 1st counter gear removed with a 0.5 modulus 9t pinion reaching to the next gear in line (about 35% more wheel speed), and a 280 motor (2 bucks in eBay) instead of the stock 260 so it delivers the needed torque for the taller gear ratio. sill using the stock Tx/Rx/ESC setup, it drifts good without a gyro-crutch in there once you get used to steering it crossed up while pumping the throttle.. like 1/2 to 3/4 and/ or 3/4 to full when needed.

M chassis wheels fit dead on, meaning no need to shave nothing 👍. Check my channel of my (3) D12's, as for front axle ends, had same issue but used only one thick washer and solved it. Those axle ends now comes (2) sizes: short and long.
I'm guessing that they're much more Scale appropriate too.

I am grateful for this information. I will take this into account when purchasing my next D12, because there will be a next D12. The reason for the purchasing of this set of rims were the fact that the listing actually states that they fit the D12. As soon as I noticed that they didn't fit I had to make this video. Try to warn the Community. So thank you for the info on the other wheels. I will use it in the future for sure.!

I’ve got M chassis wheels but can’t seem to get hold of hard drift tyres for them. Parts for these in the UK are nonexistent.
