Ok I have a theory. It's a bit far-fetched, but I think Vader is Luke's father. It would only make sense. He didn't kill him in the last movie, and in the trailer when that voice said there was anger in him, much like his FATHER. Not to mention, Vader also means Father in Dutch. I'm calling it.

If they retcon Vader to be Luke's father they will absolutely RUIN the previous film. Everything in the original film pointed to Luke's father being a good guy. It would be ridiculous to change that out of the blue. How are they going to explain Ben Kenobi lying?
I love how you cut out Yoda everywhere except for the closing line. That, along with avoiding the Vader/Luke reveal makes this probably the best fanmade ESB trailer cut to date. Theres been a few really solid ones done in the past, but they trade too much on the notion that we've seen it before so its ok to spoil. You cut this like a first release trailer. Bravo, sir

The misdirection is brilliant to the point that it’s core theme isn’t a misdirection at all. When I hear Luke say “I’m looking for a great warrior” and pans to Vader, it really represents the beauty that Luke needs the father he never had and Vader needs the son he thought was lost. Literal chills in that moment. So good!
Fan-made modern trailers are a dime a dozen on UA-cam, but this one stands out. From the snippet of a deleted scene (i.e. Wampa grabbing a Snowtrooper) to concealing Yoda’s appearance and the AT-ATs, this really captures the true spirit of a movie trailer. Plus, it’s a trailer for my all-time favourite movie...what more could I want? Well done! :-)
I agree, this was quite exceptional. And my favorite star wars film as well. Love how they added the deleted scene of the wampas invading Hoth base. Too good!

Empire has to be the best sequel ever. It expanded the universe to a mind-boggling degree and it flipped the entire original Stars Wars film on its head. I can only imagine seeing this movie in the theaters and being like, "OMG, what am I even watching?!?!" I was born a few years after, but I grew up with these films. I wish I could have experienced watching Empire in the theater. In terms of sequels, I don't know how you can possibly beat this movie.
I watched Empire as a 6 year old kid when it was released- Had chills when the the movie started and was shaking- was an AMAZING experience- There was so many people waiting in line at the theater that it made the local news- the crowd cheering and clapping at the end of the movie was amazing to feel and witness.
We saw it in one of those old giant cinemas on a boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey. Seemed cavernous. Made some of the newer cinemas that came out later seem like your basement.
You absolutely nailed this... This is such an accurate way of making a trailer. You picked the perfect lines and moments to make an astonishing foreshadow of the movie. I am deeply impressed
There is so much to love about this! Intensity, intrigue, action, drama. But the true win here is that you managed to contain anything that might be considered a spoiler for an audience that wouldn't have seen ESB yet. Amazing work! Made me feel like I was in 1979. (And I wasn't even alive then!)
If this were a movie made today, millions of people would've picked the trailer apart piece by piece until together they gave us a basic storyline and wild predictions (some of which are accurate) to make it so every major scene was already told to you beforehand.
There'd also be a lot of whining in the comments section about how it doesn't look as good as the first film, and why it's totally going to suck because there won't be any Obi-wan, and it's somehow "woke" because the only female cast member is getting more than twenty minutes screen-time. People are way too critical of things they haven't seen these days.

Truly, this trailer brought back everything I loved about the film when I saw it on opening night in 1980 on a huge screen...before the internet, before spoilers, when the big reveal near the end silenced 1000 audience members into only a huge collective gasp. In retrospect, it truly is the GOAT and was the high point of my experience with this concept and series.
This legit is amazing, and you've already set the bar very high. It might be the best one yet. It shows the movie so well, without any major spoilers, and even a few misdirects, but still building up some payoff when the actual reveals happen in the movie (like the last sentence in this trailer). ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I saw ‘Empire’ in a theatre on its first night. Nothing has ever impressed me as much as this film. This was cinematic perfection. Also best line of all time… “Sir, the temperature is dropping too rapidly” Han-“That’s right, and my friend is out in it!” “Your Tauntaun will freeze before you reach the first marker!” “Then I’ll see you in hell!” Absolutely the best line ever spoken by a ‘scoundrel’👍

I love that the trailer has many misdirections that hide the plot and would make the audience even more surprised if they saw it for the first time. For example, when Luke asks if the dark side is stronger, the trailer makes it seem like he is asking this to Vader. Also, I loved that their confrontation in Bespin is hidden but the one in the cave isn’t, making it seem like that would be the real one
Puke Groundflyer and Han Cholo suddenly get destroyed in the aluminum falcon while trying the kentucky fried chicken run, to get chicken for a creepy green goblin who became that way from too many young padowans.
I actually sat here thinking to myself, “Ooooo… can’t wait till this comes out.” Then I thought, “Oh, wait a minute…” Great work on a modern ad. Absolute chills. Noticeable lack of Bespin fight or carbonate freezing. Not giving too much away.

Oh my God, putting b-roll footage in that was never released to the actual movie itself with that wampa grab for the snow trooper.. that right there makes a trailer, I love how many times I go see a movie for one scene and it's never in the movie. Very, very well made trailer! This one serves perfectly as an actual release trailer, there are no spoilers and some big teasers, leaving questions and no answers. It doesn't succumb to the temptation to put spoilers into and leaving the very best for the actual movie. It's very sensible and well made. Really miss the times being excited about Star Wars. Thanks George for the ride.
really, really great edit! if i was to suggest anything, it's maybe having some version of the imperial march as the title is shown at the end, and using yoda's reply of 'you will be...you will be', to luke's 'i'm not afraid'. Keep up the great work!

Oh my God, putting b-roll footage in that was never released to the actual movie itself with that wampa grab for the snow trooper.. that right there makes a trailer, I love how many times I go see a movie for one scene and it's never in the movie. This is a phenomenal job by the way, keep up the good work.

This one serves perfectly as an actual release trailer, there are no spoilers and some big teasers, leaving questions and no answers. It doesn't succumb to the temptation to put spoilers into and leaving the very best for the actual movie. It's very sensible and well made.

really, really great edit! if i was to suggest anything, it's maybe having some version of the imperial march as the title is shown at the end, and using yoda's reply of 'you will be...you will be', to luke's 'i'm not afraid'. Keep up the great work!
