King Diamond is great! When I first started listening to him, I wasn't sure how I felt about the vocals. Then I listened to all of 'Abigail' and got so sucked into the story - I was like, OMG, what happens next! Now I really enjoy his vocals - he has a very unique vibe.
I saw him on the Abigail tour and trouble was the opening act at the Manatee county Civic Center. I was against the front railing. There was a mad dash once the doors opened. I was 3 feet away from his beloved bone cross microphone lol
he's looiking even better than Rob Halford nowadays, check out his latest gigs....just incredible! I wish I could become such a metal grandpa)) I'm just 45, got the point)
King’s favorite singer is the late great David Byron. I believe he even named his son after him. David Byron’s voice is one of my favorites too. Just a magical singer to me.
There's actually a "sequel" song to this 1983 debut album-closer. It's also under the Mercyful Fate catalog - the "resurrected after a decade" reunion album - 1993's In The Shadows, and the song is called "Is That You Melissa?". It's more upbeat and heavy, faster pace, lots of harpsichord, really good. I love it. Technically, for fans, Come To The Sabbath may be considered a "conduit" track between the two Melissa songs, as Melissa is referenced briefly in CTTS's lyrics.
This is true metal royalty. Been a huge fan since the 80s. This song actually gets me a little teared up from the memories. Nobody plays the femur guitar better than the King.
King Diamond is Awesome! Great to hear a Mercyful Fate song! The music is top notch! I am so glad to see You that pleasantly surprised! Keep up the great work My Fine Scottish Lady! ❤❤❤
OG Steeeveee here. I knew you would like it! This album, is the most important of my life. It came out in 1983 and having 12 at the time, I was just so impressed by the band, but King was the man. It’s a love story that last for more than 40 years now! Ghost has been largely influenced by King Diamond. Their first album has a Mercyful Fate vibe all over it. I’d love to go see King (or Mercyful Fate) with you and Mr. Melisa… he he he. Long live the King of Hell!
This album was my introduction to King Diamond. Been a diehard fan ever since. The fact that the live stage show is an actual show just makes it all the better.
Hi Melissa. Just watched your reaction to Melissa once again. Now I focus on you and see how excited you were. This song with the lyrics and the music. I always felt how much emotion bleeds from this masterpiece. I’ve been a fan of king diamond since the early 80s and to this day. I still feel the same emotion when I hear Melissa. It’s amazing how music can ground us. I never needed any other music other than rock and metal. They gave me everything that I needed. Stay heavy 🤘
This is actually a Mercyful Fate song from their 1983 debut album titled Melissa. The entire album and pretty much everything MF put out are of stellar quality.
Hail to the King, Baby! :D King Diamond is rad. I remember being blown away the first time I heard those distinctive vocals-I had never heard anything like it. I love it, him, and your channel!
@@SoulSingerDiscovers The only thing about this video that is missing is the two original guitarists from MF, Michael Denner and Hank Shermann. They were a guitar duo only comparable to Downing/Tipton of Judas Priest.
KD is the best.. For me it took several years to get over, and into his vocal style. I've always loved MF riffage and melodies. So when Metallica did the Mercyful Fate medley cover, that was my go-to track for a long time.

Hi sweat Melisa, The song "Melissa" is originally written by King Diamonds first band Mercyful Fate in 1983. King has been in and out of that band several times during the bands history, but they are touring together still. Here's a clip from the Wacken Open Air concert from them in 2022 performing "Melissa": ua-cam.com/video/KjRDDCeSH-8/v-deo.htmlsi=hVNzRC5Yup6YQ_M5&t=2492
I have a daughter inspired by KD and MF. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her mother said : What about Ea ? Ok but what about Ea Melissa ? ..... It was her name. Cheers in maid from Denmark :)
King Dian’s. Is all you need to know 🤘🤘 he starts his North America tour this August in San Antonio. I bought 5 tickets and I’m treating my family to a great show. kd rules🤘
King diamond.. house of god album is absolutely fantastic, fantastic and probably one of his best preformenses, next to the puppet master. A long time king fan.. and incant het enough of house of god!! Give it a good, long listen!!
Melisssaaaaaaaaaa. Sorry just quoting the song. 👁️👄👁️ He's got such a unique voice. So unique, in fact, he was the inspiration for a lot of black metal harsh vocals. His songs are hit or miss for me but i respect him to the unheavens.
If you, really, want a song that'll blow your head right off your shoulder's, Mercyful Fate's 'At The Sound of The Demon Bell' (which is on the album Melissa, their first) will do just that. Seriously, it's so fucking high that squirrels drop their nuts and fall from their trees. On an odd bit of trivia, Gene Simmons (yes, of KISS) sued King Diamond, sometime in the late 80s, claiming that King's makeup looked too much like his own. Unfortunately, the judge sided with Gene, which is why his makeup took such a drastic shift after Conspiracy. (I, still, think Alice Cooper - who got the whole makeup craze going - should've sued Gene, just to make the point about who started what.)
@@SoulSingerDiscovers I enjoy me some King Diamond, I just enjoy trolling more. Listen to his track with Dave Grohl! ua-cam.com/video/2wyxuQ3E4so/v-deo.html&pp=ygUTcHJvYm90IGtpbmcgZGlhbW9uZA%3D%3D

I think I loved them from the start but the stories have definitely helped cement my feelings 😊 thanks for watching 💜

Lets not forget hes singing this at like 70 yrs old and has had a triple bypass and a myriad of other health issues.....dude is a GOD among men
he's looiking even better than Rob Halford nowadays, check out his latest gigs....just incredible! I wish I could become such a metal grandpa)) I'm just 45, got the point)
King is an absolute legend! His bands and band members have done great work over the years.
“Is that You, Melissa?” would be a fun song to check out.
I love "Is that You, Melissa"! My friends and I used to break out singing it all the time. It's the first thing I think of when I meet a Melissa!
And this sounds so close to the original recording done 41 years ago, simply amazing.
King’s favorite singer is the late great David Byron. I believe he even named his son after him. David Byron’s voice is one of my favorites too. Just a magical singer to me.

I named my daughter Melissa 24 years ago after this song.
King Diamond / Merciful Fate always feels like a sung Hammer-Horror-Movie-Edgar-Allen-Poe-Story.
I love a girl who appreciates the king
everyone just says he sounds annoying without appreciating his many octave range and basically voice acting several actors per song
To consider that this track is 40 or so years old, just blows my mind... and makes me feel so old, but the song never lost it.
It’s amazing 🤩

insane talent
