Ive been doing belt Squats for so long, and every single point you have raised i have ran into, especially the land mine style of squatting.. so your way of doing it is by far the best way ever love it and thank you so much...
You just saved me $200 and this is a much better exercise! I almost bought the revolt squat attachment and was looking for reviews on it but came across your video. Thx!!! This is a genius idea.
I've never had to do belt squats in my life, a regular barbell squat was always more than enough for me. But I'm training my buddies now and they both have lower back problems so regular squats are off the table and I've been looking for alternatives and this might be very helpful. Thanks a lot!
I made a little improvement to your version. I made jhook on the same level with opposite safety bracket. Seems to work better. Added safety bracket above jhook so I can hold on to it. On the barbell I put sleeve with the chain (available on Amazon for $ 16 as a T-bar attachment). That way I can keep torso almost vertically erected. As collars i used Ivanko old style. Everything else would slide after 4 plates. Put 2 3inches steps. Since my torso is bend over maybe 10 DEG filing is exactly like on the belt squat machine. I also bought real belt. The dip belt just does not work. Big difference.
Wow man, just watched this video and immediately went to the garage to try it. Works perfectly! Just injured my shoulder and can’t load any weight on my upper body at all for a while. I’m so happy I can still do squats like this! Thanks so much for sharing!

I like it, but I made one with a 4x4 and just drilled a hole in the back part of the 4x4 to run the safety bar on a squat rack thru it. I attached a 1 inch black iron pipe on top with a flange and 2 eye bolts on the front for the belt and it works perfectly. I support it with a 4x4 with an attached handle. Painted it black. Less than 30$. Love it! I can only get about 225 on it so I did order the bells of steel belt squat. I could get more weight on it if I ran the iron pipe thru the 4x4 horizontally but I wanted to able to go low on certain days.

I invented an adjustable height land mine that can be set up with the fulcrum higher. This way, you can set up like your power rack version, and take a step over using a block, or start from the bottom
Great video. I have both a question and a comment. First my question. Why is it important to have the far end of the bar angled upward on the rack? Also, how do you determine how far upward? One peg? Two pegs? Thanks Comment: In regards to counter balancing the weight with one or two plates on the non-squat end, I simply used cloth daisy chains (from IronMind - rated at 3,000 lb strength) looped around the bar and the catch arm or safety peg end and secured with a carabiner. That holds it securely from flipping up. Also, for good measure, I placed a rack peg just above it for added security against the bar flipping up. This works for me especially since I don't have many extra 45s lying around to use for counter balancing so this is a good option for that reason as well. Also, it negates your concern about the counter balance plates bumping into the rack itself while squatting. I was hoping to take a photo of it and send to you however it doesn't seem to allow sharing photos here in the comments. Thanks again for your inspiration. 👍🏼
If belt squats at home were a life or death thing, you're a lifesaver. I badly need these to improve my relatively weak quads, and now hopefully have a solution.
I was planning on using the landmine way and thought about buying plywood to make two plyo boxes to elevate myself, but this is a much better and effective way!
Thank you! I bought a great Spud belt, and haven’t figured out how to use it for last 6 month....been doing landmine version but you’re right it’s awkward and limited motion range. Will defo try this tomorrow
I just bought this type of belt for my home gym. Watching lots of videos on how to do a squat set up. But I have been doing donkey calf raises with it. Those are super good, I’ve never worked out my calves that well, so if I could just come up with a squat set up, it’ll be perfect.
I recently bought the revolt attachment- waiting on it Just saw this -pretty cool I think I could set up the other safety bar higher and if needed use it for balance or as a “dig deep” to squeeze out a few more reps - and ugh I do have lots of fat fat bumper plates.
This is a long time after...but I have been using the landmine variation on raised platforms. It is true as stated here that the 45 pound plates are huge, so the platform is necessary. The main issue is I have to start in the squatted position to hook on. So my first movement is from squat to standing. I actually found it is not as hard if I use my hands on my knees as leverage to stand up the first time (or use handles or something else to hold on to to pull yourself up). Again, it is true as stated here that you solve one problem only to create another. But for someone who works out alone, it might be worth the effort.
The Strength Classroom I’m a lower back problem guy and just did some front squats on Wednesday to test my strength with them for the first time in 6 months. I gotta say, my lower back felt toasty the last few days but these felt great today! And my lower back feels like I just hung off my inversion table for a bit. Thanks for the new movement!
Mate thanks very much! I’ve been battling to find a good belt squat variation that isn’t uncomfortable and frustrating or even dangerous to set up. Got myself a spud inc belt squat belt and two big boxes. But it was tough to load heavy enough safely. Your variety seems so logical and easy to setup. Thanks again!
@@TheStrengthClassroom I live in Los Angeles and there is no word of when the gyms will open again, but for now I will be using a squat belt with my two 50 lb kettles attached for squatting.
I so badly have wanted to do these, but set up has been miserable as you say here, and also at 64 years-old, risk involved from the various start positions, boxes, etc. I have a great lower back, but two things to consider about squatting as we age, shoulder impingement of any type makes a back squat simply not doable, and spinal column compression. I have lost over an inch of height over the last ten years, and I see heavy back squats as the main culprit. Looking forward to trying your unique solution, and will provide feedback. Thanks!
I like your version. Problem I ran into today was that the chain pulled my second clip off the squatting end of the barbell mud-squat and I almost fell as I flew backwards. Looking for better collars. Otherwise it should be perfect.

No problem Jayce
I just bought this type of belt for my home gym. Watching lots of videos on how to do a squat set up. But I have been doing donkey calf raises with it. Those are super good, I’ve never worked out my calves that well, so if I could just come up with a squat set up, it’ll be perfect.
That's a great idea!
I recently bought the revolt attachment- waiting on it
Just saw this -pretty cool
I think I could set up the other safety bar higher and if needed use it for balance or as a “dig deep” to squeeze out a few more reps - and ugh I do have lots of fat fat bumper plates.
I have the revolt fitness arm. It is awesome!
Where exactly should the belt be resting? Loving the decompression and pump at the same time 😃
You want it fairly low without it slipping off.
@@TheStrengthClassroom thanks for the reply 💪🏼
this is amazing idea.
Thanks alot. I hope you find it useful!
Great explanation thanks for watching
Ah this is a great idea! Thanks for posting.
Thank you hope you enjoy it
Great idea man! Sorry if I missed it but would you say your version would be good for targeting & growing quads?
Ya I feel it mostly in my quads
@ nice. What brand belt do you recommend?
Thanks alot! Tested this out and it was perfect.
Awesome! Thats what I like to hear brother.
Thank you for all the gains I made and for all the future gains I am going to made using your method. It's amazing!
No problem brother. I am glad you enjoyed!
Just got a dip belt. This is a brilliant variation. Going to try it now!
(this vid earned my sub!)
Thanks brother!
No problem my man!
Glad you liked it. If you can get a video of it showing me that would be awesome!
This channel is fantastic. Liked. Subscribed. Notifications on. Thank you for the lesson
Thanks brother!
I totally agree thanks for this vid I will try it when the gyms open up again.
Let me know how it goes? How long are gyms closed where you are?
@@TheStrengthClassroom I live in Los Angeles and there is no word of when the gyms will open again, but for now I will be using a squat belt with my two 50 lb kettles attached for squatting.
Tried this today at the gym, amazing. This is gonna sky rocket my squat.
Thanks for letting me know
I so badly have wanted to do these, but set up has been miserable as you say here, and also at 64 years-old, risk involved from the various start positions, boxes, etc. Thanks!
Awesome! Let me know how it works out
I like your version. Problem I ran into today was that the chain pulled my second clip off the squatting end of the barbell mud-squat and I almost fell as I flew backwards. Looking for better collars. Otherwise it should be perfect.
Oh crap LOL Be careful. No one has ever reported that to me.
Pretty cool variation. Thanks for the idea
No problem bro. Thanks for watching!
You just saved me so much money. Thank you!!!
No problem my man. Glad I could help!
Going to try it later today !
Let me know how it goes
