    i remember as a kid and racing minibikes at the Saddleback Motorcycle Park in Santiago Canyon, Southern California. I was sponsored and raced for " The Hawk " Racing Team. I rode a modified Zebra Mini Bike, with a 6 horse Techumshe motor punched out with a mikuni 26 carburetor running nitro methane using a torque convertor putting 12 horse to the rear wheel. I was clocked at speeds in access of 60 to 70 miles per hour. Those were the day's.

    Had one of these with Honda 8 hp motor, sounded like a Harley. lol ,it was fun and a bit scary. when clutch kicked in sometimes it would pop a wheelie.

    Yes they are good for mud and trails. The best tip I have is not to leave it stock and perhaps invest in a torque converter for it because that makes like a night and day difference.

    you can make them road legal, add brake and tail lights, turn signals, and horn, upgrade the alternator to a 12 volts instead of 6 volts, you could change the front rim with a back rim for an additional front brake, and then it's street legal

    I just bought one today for $100 haven’t been rode over a year ! Her husband bought it in 2012 & it’s just rusted on a couple parts , drained the oil today was old as hell , but other than that it’s dope ! Can’t wait to get it up & running so I can cruise on it 😎

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому +4

    Thanks! I think the mb200's are still the same 196cc engine as all the rest, at least that's what the specs say on baja's site. They just seem to have a bit different look and a couple extra features. So if that is the case you should be able to get it to do about 54km/h if you were to completely bypass or remove the governor.

    Take the extra gear sprocket off and run a straight one piece chain if you want speed. You will lose torque but the bike will do an easy 50 mph

    • @owenbeers2630
      @owenbeers2630 9 років тому +2

      Or, you can get a torque converter. My mini Baja has enough torque to pull a wheelie and go a little over 50mph. I'm only running a 7hp predator 212cc motor on mine.

    @Emmonach Hmm that's totally up to you. If you plan on modding and customizing it then I'd say it is but If you just plan on keeping it stock then probably not. You could always see if you could find a cheap used one instead of buying new?

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому +6

    Thanks! They're pretty cheap, around $600 when on sale. :P

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому +2

    It should. I have one from like 2006 that still works fine.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому

    you could remove the jack-shaft and attach the chain from it to the main chain, so your going straight from clutch to back sprocket. If not that, then the only thing I can think of would be torque converter or start rebuilding the internals of the engine. The torque converter should come with all the bolts and stuff you'll need, but you'll still need a drill and a grinder to make it fit.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому

    you can use regular 30w lawnmower oil, or 10w30 regular or synthetic. You just fill it until the oil reaches the top or the fill mark on the dip stick if it has one.

    I have a mini baja from like 2005 (bought it used in 2009) and the original engine's head took a dump. These engines are a dime a dozen so I found a 206 cc engine for 180 bucks brand new. It has alot more torque now. I just wish I could afford a CVT for it!

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому +1

    Same thing happened on my old one, I just ignored it and was going to wait until the brakes stopped working before replacing them, that never happened. They've been squeaking for years but it still stops fine. :P

  • @gopro2027

    I got one of these and it is insane. My dad bought it for me when I was 12. I almost never rode it. It got all gunked up and ran like shit.
    I recently bought a yamaha ttr 125 and my lil bro wanted to try to get the warrior running and we had done some previous work trying to fix it so we kinda messed up the idling or something but after a bit of messing with it we adjusted the spring so you hold down the brake when you start it and let go of the brake and it just goes until you switch it off. At max speed it goes about as fast as my ttr in like 3rd gear but it is very unsafe so my brother won't be riding it until we can get it fixed properly.
    For now it is a little fun machine for me and my friend to ride up and down the street together.
    I think it is worth the money especially if you take care of it (unlike I did)

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    I've only seen them at Canadian Tire and TSC Stores. But according to Baja's site they also sell them at Pep Boys and Atwoods.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому

    Hmm not sure what you are referring to "to do just that and be out nothing" to do what? They are really slow from the factory and in this video, so maybe you are referring to the video where I put a torque converter on this? If that's the case things like the torque converter not being aligned properly, under inflated tires, driving against the wind, and more weight could be bringing down the speed?

  • @bobchessy
    @bobchessy 13 років тому

    great video. i made a pipe out of scrap metal and a spray paint can then painted it with grill paint. now i need to save up for a torque converter! but my warrior is an '06 and the previous owner didnt take care of it and beat the crap out of it so i need to replace the rear tire and cables first...

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    Stock is indeed slow. but with 2 min and a piece of wire you can bring the speed up to 54km/h or swap out the centrifugal clutch with a torque converter clutch and bring that up to 70km/h.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    nice. hmm its just the baffle you want? not sure.. you could try going to a retailer that sells em like Canadian Tire or TSC stores and see if they could order the part for you?

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  13 років тому

    @CodieLee93 Ya in stock form it is pretty slow. It's because the engine is governed at 3600rpm and it is geared fairly low and only has the one gear. You can get it to about 31mph in about 5 min just by by passing the governor which brings the rpm up to around 5000rpm but that is hard on the engine for any sort of extended period. You could also remove the gear reduction system and go striaght from clutch to back sprocket and gain a lot of speed but you would loose lots of torque.

  • @ball_soup
    @ball_soup 12 років тому

    You can take the governor off as well as remove the plastic in front of the switches on top of the engine.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому

    Probably, they really limit the speed on these off the shelf. Even the 50cc Baja dirt bike goes like 35mph stock. However on this, with the governor removed or bypassed, it goes about 34mph, and with a torque converter it goes about 44mph, or with governor removed or bypassed and jack-shaft removed or bypassed this goes about 53mph.

  • @jmkisner7968

    I modded my last baja heat. It was tricked out but about 7 years old. Pretty rough shape till I bought it. Pretty much upgraded clutch. Made it a ton faster. Especially in asfault

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому

    Not sure, perhaps pull apart the twist part to see if the cable is still in the groove, or maybe it's come disconnected from the motor, or perhaps its come out of the thing that holds it in place on the motor and the whole cable is moving rather then just the inside cable. Hard to tell, just follow the cable and twist the throttle to see what its doing or not doing.. :P

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    @TheRealUyi its probably because its just a cheap centrifugal clutch on the bike? those always tend to make a lot of noise when they are in their friction zone before they fully engage.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому

    If you have a Princess Auto around you that's the only physical store I've ever seen torque converters in, here. Other then that you can order them online. I think there's ones at gokartsusa that are made to fit these so you don't have to drill holes or grind, but I've never seen one or bought from there so I have no idea if there any good.

    Hi! Nice bike! I am planning buying this for myself? Is it decent size I'm a pretty tall guy. How tall are you?

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому

    Not sure. Probably not until the spring or summer. I don't really do any of this stuff in the winter. Too cold and snowy lol.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  13 років тому

    @CodieLee93 Although best way to gain more speed and actually gain more torque is a torque converter. That brings the top speed to around 43mph. But that's another $200-300. And these are indeed 4-stroke, the craigslist person probably didn't know what they were talking about or might have replaced the engine with a 2-stroke engine. :P

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    Ya I don't think the screw does much, its definitely the governor kicking in.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  13 років тому

    @Emmonach It can. Just depends on what you do to it, how hard you are on it and how well you take care of it.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  13 років тому

    @fransolis94 Thanks! =-) I don't know for sure if it can bacause theres no hills that steep around my house, but I would think with the stock clutch as long as you were moving a good speed before hitting the hill it would climb fine, but if you were to start on the hill from a dead stop the clutch might just slip. With a torque converter clutch it would prolly do fine though even from a complete stop.

  • @hotrodsho101
    @hotrodsho101 12 років тому

    Alright awesome! Thanks marcel! But just 2 more easy questions...well I hope their easy. But whenever I speed up my baja like 3/4 of the way on the throttle the baja wants to slow down idk what it is, might it be the governor or their designed like that? But I might have to clean the carb out too, there might be some junk in it.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    As for the torque converter you should be able to but I've seen a video where it shows that it has a threaded crankshaft rather then tapped. So you need to find a special lug nut to hold on the driver unit and grind down some of the key way on it.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  13 років тому

    @dailee3 hmm not sure... gas on and flowing, choke on, kill switch in right position? oil full, gas full and fresh? spark plug connected properly and working? Engine not flooded? Try spraying some quick start into the air intake and seeing if the engine even attempts to start after that?

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    All engines this style will top out around the same speed because they run at the same rpm. With more hp doesn't come more speed but more power and torque and the ability to use smaller gearing. 2.5hp probably cant even climb a steep hill where as this could do it fairly easily. This also has a jackshaft on it to reduce speed but gain more power and torque. Once you remove or bypass governor on this you get 54km/h (34mph). If you were to remove jackshaft and governor you get 85km/h (53mph). :P

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  13 років тому

    @RSAPshow Hmm not that I know of... Perhaps there's just a difference between the Canadian version and American version?

  • @katelynmacmaster3335
    @katelynmacmaster3335 10 років тому

    Gerald, you might have to turn on your choke and once it starts, make sure your fuel and choke is off.

    The Colour, lol. Other then that, they are identical. I think the Baja Heat, Warrior, and Mini Baja are all identical except for the colour scheme, and the MB200 just has some extra plastic pieces and apparently a weird clutch hookup, but other then that seems to be the same.

    Nice baja!! but ive never saw a 2011 baja 200cc on youtube yet... like i have a 200 warrior, ive got a light switch and it actually says 200cc on it not 196cc. but would i be able to get a torque converter kit too? like mine goes 40 kph and i can beat all my friends, but im wondering if i can get a kit too?

    @AlexanderBeans No Idea, it's not something I've ever calculated or has ever concerned me lol. I think the Baja site used to say approx 30-50mpg for these on their specs page but it doesn't say any more so don't quote me on that. :P

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    @Mrtechsauce there's a wire coming out of the front of the engine that the light plugs into, that I guess is hooked up to a little generator inside the engine.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  12 років тому

    6.5's don't get 40 until after the governor is removed or bypassed and maybe some other mods are done to them. This video was to show what you get with this bike when it's still fully governed with nothing done to it, right off the retail floor. :P

    Definitely the governor kicking in. I got a a video on how to easily bypass it on this baja warrior, it may or may not be the same on the mb200, I'm not sure. If you do start messing with the governor just make sure the bike is on a center stand or in some position that it can't take off on you if the throttle gets stuck open. :P

    The stock clutches on these are pretty crappy and noisy. Probably just the clutch hanging in the friction zone not fully engaged or disengaged. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.

  • @MarcelsWorkshop
    @MarcelsWorkshop  11 років тому

    There's lots of mods you can do to make it faster but they all require ripping down the engine and re-building it with performance parts, but that would be a lot harder to do then add the torque converter. The easiest would be bypassing the governor for more speed and no power loss, then after that if you just want lots speed and don't mind loosing most of your climbing power,

      @@MarcelsWorkshop thanks, and just making sure what all would it change? The acceleration and torque? Or the top speed too or would I have to remove governor to increase it

    • @MarcelsWorkshop
      @MarcelsWorkshop  Рік тому +1

      @@ACG7001 It gives better acceleration and torque and increases top speed to around 70km/h. Removing the governor after adding on a torque converter probably wouldn't increase the top speed by much, because the engine doesn't have enough power to even reach its highest rpm when the torque converter is in its "high gear". However removing the governor would get you up to speed a lot quicker, so it's beneficial if you want the fastest acceleration.

    How is this bike? A neighbor is selling it practically brand new and I'm trying to get it for a good price. Not seeing any brakes in the front or suspension in the back kind of puts me off though. Does it brake okay with just the rear and how smooth is the ride?

    • @MarcelsWorkshop
      @MarcelsWorkshop  10 років тому +1

      The big balloon tires absorb some of the bumps but still rougher then a dirt bike with full suspension. Stops ok, but definitley not as good as a bike with a front brake. Why don't you just take your neighbours bike for a test ride and see for yourself? :P

      MarcelsWorkshop I don't think it runs, and I don't really have the budget for it. He was selling it for 550, 500 probably for a neighbor. He said it was rode once for a few minutes and that's it. It's been sitting though so I could haggle and I'm pretty sure no one else would take it off his hands for a while. He is a cheapskate though. I really want it though since there's a nice trail beside the train tracks in back of my house and it would be fun to cruise down to the lake. Need something between 300-400$ (used most likely) and decent for that.

      I'm sure it runs unless he did some serious damage to it? These can sit for like a year then still start in one or 2 pulls lol. There pretty reliable. Might be tough finding one that cheap unless its in pretty rough shape. Guess you'll have to just keep watching kijiji and craigslist or save up an extra $100. :P

    @LHRShadow Cool. :D I think A gx200 should mount up fine because the engine the bike comes with is a clone version of that engine.

    no, not on this video. this was to show exactly what you would get right off the show floor. I start modding it in other videos.

    @Jeffrey1135 Thanks! :D Ya they are pathetically slow in stock form, I could never keep it that way, that's Why I instantly started modding this one after the first ride. :P Although I don't find the foot pegs too far forward at all, I find forward pegs make it more comfy to ride. You just have to get used to it I guess. :P

    Where can you get one of these nowadays? I've checked the Baja's website and the stores listed where you can apparently buy them no longer have them in stock.

    I live around the Hamilton area in Ontario. Hmm they might just not keep them in stock but you might be able to get them to special order you one if you ask someone? Not sure though.
