    THANK YOU for this. I have watched three other arm knitting tutorials and they are maddeningly inconsistent about how they hold the yarn and from what direction they slip the stitches onto the other hand. I had arm knit a scarf last year and I had to learn on my own how to not twist the stitches, but I forgot, of course. Practicing this evening I could knit off my left arm without twisting the stitches, but I've been having a devil of a time not twisting them as I knit off my right arm. This video cleared that up. Thank you, thank you.

    just wow! I can see the amazing, chain-like appearance of the fabric near the end and Oh I see there's another video finishing the same item... going there now! So cool.

    I totally agree with what troberts1 and others have said. I watched three other videos until I found yours, I wasn't able to complete the project. And I've been knitting for over 20 years! Thank you for being clear and concise in your directions. Thank you for going slow so that I don't have to put down my knitting, grab my mouse, and rewind! Love this video. Thank you so much!

    I am so thankful today. After many days trying and watching many Videos, i finally made myself a scarf. You have explained this very good. I could learn much from you. Thank you very much.

    I'm just learning to arm knit...tho my first attempt was an arm knot after trying other how to vids. I found your instructions to be the most informative while still simple. Your directives as to "toward and away" or "front and back" helped me understand and "V"isialize. Thanks!

    Thanks for the tutorial. I'm going to try to use this to make a regular scarf for cosplay.

      The cast on is the most complicated part I think - I find it very easy once I get into a rhythm on the actual stitching part!

    How much yarn is left on the skins?

    Is it natural for the knitted material to curl in on itself the more links you knit?

    if I wanted to make a throw blanket using this technique would I just add more casters?

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  9 років тому

      Sarah Southam Absolutely. If you have the book, the neon and neutral fringed shawl was almost large enough to be a throw. I would go with several strands of yarn at a time though - the looser the fabric the more likely it is to get pulled out of shape by a pet or a toe going in the wrong place!

    I get every step except the step to tighten the stitches. My scarf is so loose and looks like a mess :( I don't get what you pull to tighten the scarf. HELP!!

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  9 років тому

      imacutiiebabee Either tighten up the working yarn (a LITTLE - can't cut off circulation!) after every stitch, or use more skeins of yarn at once. The more strands of yarn you use, the thicker/less hole-y the fabric. Tightening seems like a pain but you get into the habit quickly and don't have to think about it much.

    I made my first blue infinity scarf using this video and two different blues. And while I like the loose messy look, how do u make yours seems tight?

    • @Chele32090
      @Chele32090 9 років тому

      She tightens it in between each stitch you have to keep the tension a little bit tighter for a tighter look

      Thebes17 Ok I am an idiot - I just figured out how to reply to comments so I apologize for the delay! Yes you can tighten up a little after every stitch, but the easiest way to make a thicker fabric is to use more skeins of yarn at a time. A fabric made with 5 - 6 skeins of yarn is going to look tighter than a fabric made with 3 skeins of yarn. Thanks for commenting!

    I can't seem to get the edges tight. it there a way to make then edges tight and neat?

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  9 років тому +1

      Natasha Brown Even if you don't tighten every stitch naturally as you knit, make sure to tighten the beginning and end stitches by giving a light tug on the working yarn.

    I have watched this video SOOOO many times and still am getting stuck when its time to move the stiches to the opposite arm. The tail end somehow gets pulled into it and I cant figure out how to move it. I cant seem to get it..PLEASE HELP!!!!

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  9 років тому

      Monique Moss Make sure when you are starting that you have pulled at least two yards off before you make you slip knot - maybe if the tail is longer it won't get caught up as easily?

    How would you wash this

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  6 років тому

      Perseverance Muchandinzwa First off you’d have to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the yarn to not do anything the yarn can’t take! I then put mine in a large mesh bag (you can use a laundry bag sized one and tie a loose overhand knot in it if they don’t have the large zippers ones where you live) an wash from there.

    I can’t figure out how to tighten the chain properly after switching it to the other arm :( It ends up far too loose

    • @hookedforlifewithMBT
      @hookedforlifewithMBT  4 роки тому

      You might need to get in the habit of tightening up the stitches as you go by giving a little tug on the working yarn (the yarn attached to the ball of yarn) after each stitch. I tend to do that out of habit now.

      Hooked for Life with Mary Beth Temple Do you base the tension on how tight it is around your arm? Sorry to ask. I used the working yarn to pull it after every stitch and it felt snug on my arm, but all the yarn in the middle was all loose so I guess I still did something wrong!
