    New Zealand is much more isolated, not very busy in a majority of the country. Japan appears to be busy everywhere, I can't wait to visit and see for myself rather than just the media, exchange students and foreigners giving their knowledge (which is still cool, but ya know)

    Die deutsche Bahn würde bei den Verhältnissen in Tokyo vermutlich komplett zusammenbrechen. Was bei uns noch eine normale Verspätung ist, bedeutet in Tokyo den Ausfall mehrerer Züge hintereinander. In Japan bekommt man damit das hin, was wir bestenfalls nur versuchen. xD

    Portugal and Japan - The being on time xD (of course not everyone's late here but that 15 minute thing is fine), the being less open with eachother (we are way more expansive and loud), the food is very different except for some imported stuff they have from us like the tempura and a sweet made from eggs, and I guess people are more strict then us but everything depends on each individual. That's what I can think of. :)

    Biggest difference between Japan and your country? That's a hard question actually. I live in Hawaii, so we have a very large Japanese population here, as well as strong Japanese ties to Japan. Therefore, we have a lot of Japanese practices here. But I guess the largest difference would be transportation. Like the rest of the U.S., it's nearly impossible to get anywhere without a vehicle. Whereas, in Japan, you can get to many places by foot, train, or bus.

    lol Cathy Cat's slowly fleeting facial expression when the dude says he doesn't understand anime, manga, and maid cafe's XD. Also, the biggest difference between Japan and the U.S would probably be the public transportation. I mean there's lots of differences but that one came to mind first so.

    • @meta-michael-metal
      @meta-michael-metal 7 років тому

      Actually, that would depend on which Americans and which Japanese you're talking about, the individuals' personalities, upbringing, geographical region, social skill level, social environmental surroundings, education level regarding other cultures etc etc. would all make a difference on how the individuals behave. While the Japanese culture is typically more reserved/collectivist and the American one typically less reserved/individualistic, that does not mean that all Americans are braggadocios and also does not mean that braggadocios Japanese do not exist. A sample size that you would/could see on the internet of behavior isn't exactly the best because that's a sample of people that are posting on the internet and or being braggadocios or what have you and excludes individuals that do not participate, same goes for visiting an area of a country:the geographical location could be a confounding factor in the behaviors you observe as well as the aforementioned factors and possibly more. I totally understand how it would seem to be that Americans are more braggadocios and Japanese are not due to the cultural differences especially those regarding openness, but in sum, sample sizes don't always speak for an entirety of people and differing populations that produce different numbers of sample sizes made up of differing numbers of citizens can distort the way things seem when making comparisons and can thus lead to over-generalization and stereotyping. I for one as an American am more reserved and I can speak to say that yes there are a lot of obnoxious and braggadocios Americans (that sometimes make me ashamed lol), but there are also a lot like me that just try to chill and get along with other cultures unlike some of our xenophobes but hey what can you do? lol. Also, idk why they're being braggadocios, we have a lottttt of things that we need to fix. Anyway, I digress but I more or less was looking at the the countries' differences from a more physical country itself and services it provides point of view and not so much from a citizen behavior point of view. So it is nice to see how some other ppl view the differences in behavior between the two so thanks for that. Well, sorry for the rant, long comment, and whatnot, not trying to be defensive or argue with you, just trying to give you more of a perspective of where my point of view was coming from when I commented. I think too much lol. Anyway, have a nice day!

      そんなこと今頃ぼやいても意味ありません。戦争始めたのが東京なんだからやられても文句言えません。アメリカにとっては正当なリベンジです。満州においては卑怯きわまりないISのような汚い芝居をしたと聞いていますが違うのですか?問題はどのようにして外国と戦わず友達になり愛し合えるかと言うことです。Peace、Communication is KEY

    • @takuyayamamoto2078
      @takuyayamamoto2078 7 років тому

      戦争は殺し合いです。格闘技のようなルールに従いやれるものではありません。戦争は集団間の殺し合いのけんかです。一部反対した人はいましたが、ほとんどの人は戦争賛成したはずですし、もし反対したら非国民だと言われる社会を作ったのは日本人各自の責任でした。相手も話し合いなしで殺しにくる相手はどんなことしてでもやっつけないと自分の家族がやられるのでどんな手でも使うでしょうし、原爆についても、日本がつくったとしたら使おうとしたでしょうね。戦争自体を憎むべきです。戦争は汚いし残酷です。相手が悪いとは自分のやったことを棚に上げてよく言えますね。反省すべきは自分です。

    • @artichokeflower
      @artichokeflower 7 років тому +8

      欧米の植民地主義でやってきたことの方が残酷でしょうに?
      欧米人は戦争以外で世界中を植民地化するのに天文学的な人数の人を殺してきました。
      民族の伝統文化も破壊しましたし、宗教もキリスト教に改宗させてきました。
      あなたのような戦争は単なる殺し合いというなら、テロリズムやっている人達は非難できませんね。
      テロリズムがなぜダメなのかというのは戦争を越えた民間人だけを狙った卑劣なものだからです。
      西欧人が植民地主義や原爆投下で民間人にしてきたことが、これが民間人を狙っても良いのだと理解しテロリズムが生まれるきかっけになったのは間違いありません。そういうことを中東の政治家達も過去に指摘してきました。あなたのような味噌も糞も同じような考えを持つ人がいるからテロが無くならないのですよ。戦争にルールがないなら日本も核兵器を持つべきですね。

    • @takuyayamamoto2078
      @takuyayamamoto2078 7 років тому +1

      中国はどうですか?たくさん殺されてませんか戦争以外で?日本はどうですか?残酷で卑劣な行為してませんか?いろいろなことを、私も聞きました。でも全部私は実際に見てないし全部ひとの話から導き出した推測でしかありませんので、欧米人とアジア人のどちらがたくさん殺したか?などという意見に対する裏の取りようがありませんし、あなたも私と同じく裏付けの取れてない想像だとおもいますがどうでしょう?だから殺し方のどちらが残酷か?などという設問には答えられませんし意味がありません。問題は、どのようにして人殺しのテロや戦争を防ぐかということです。どうやって世界中のみんなと仲良くするかです。あなたの意見は他人に対する悪口であり国際社会にとって何のプラスにもなりません。

    日本人は他人に気を使い集団意識が高い、たしかにそうなんだけど、そのぶん同調圧力が強くて個性とか個人行動は尊重されない傾向にあると思います。カティーさん大好きです。

    I am from Spokane America. And to me, there are a lot of differences between us. But the one I would describe is the Japanese Tea Ceremony. Cha No Yu. In America, we drink coffee casually from a cup. Not very much with a cup of tea. With tea, we use tea bags and still drink it casually. In Japan, there are a number of procedures that we follow when drinking tea. One is, there is no tea cup. Just a tea bowl. Another one is that dessert is place in front of the leading guest but he does "not" eat just yet. When the bowl is washed then he takes a piece of dessert. Big differences. I learned Cha No Yu so much, I can serve it too now.

      hmm I mean because of the face structure. :) Korean or Chinese, etc. have different eyes, different face shape and so on. And if you live in a country for a while, you can see who is a tourist and who not :)

    こんにちわ。日本とドイツは似ている部分が多いと思います。それは、明治時代に日本が西洋に追いつくために、様々のところでドイツに学んだところにあります。工業技術、法律、そして医学などがあります。当時、アジアには学ぶ国は皆無でした。古代は中国から学ぶこと多かったが、明治時代になると、アジアには学ぶ国はなかった。そのためヨーロッパにその活路を見出し、イギリス、ドイツに多くの日本人が渡り学んだ。その意味では、イギリスやドイツには感謝しています。

    最後の方でリポーターが言ってる事についてですが、
    日本人が他人や所属集団に気を遣うのは、結局は自分の為ですよ。
    他人や所属集団を不快にさせては、結局は自分に返ってきます。
    一次的にごり押ししても、結局は何かしら自分に返ってきます。
    そんな考えで、自分が快適に過ごすために、周囲に気を遣うのです。
    周囲が泣いていては、自分が笑顔で居続けることは出来ませんから。

    いろんな外国人と仕事してるけど、人との距離感や空気感を読まないよね。日本人の建前と本音を使い分ける習性が理解できないと思うんだけど、人のフィールドに土足で入ってくる距離感とかがわからないと、図々しさを感じる。外国人の価値観を日本人に押し付けられても困るし、日本人は結構その点では閉鎖的かも。

      The population of "black and brown" people in Japan is microscopically small. Based on the most recent census data that I found, less than 1% of the population of the country could be classified as "black or brown," and that includes people from Southeast Asia.

    • @munzilla
      @munzilla 8 років тому

      bros these people are all tourists, they are not locals, you could find other nationalities if you try of you know what I mean

    • @saldiven2009
      @saldiven2009 8 років тому +3

      +usama salmanj Spoken like a person who has never been to Japan. The tourist population who are "black or brown" is even smaller than the local population of such people. Tokyo has a population of 27 million. At any given time, there might be a few thousand tourists who are "black or brown." Cathy approaches the people she finds and folms those that are willing. Actively taking out the time to find specific demographics would be largely futile.
