I decided to commit to learning Japanese. Right now I am using Pimsleur and other apps. I’m also finding zoom classes being taught by Japanese tutors. I wonder if they are better than app learning. I spent two weeks on Okinawa in May, as it was my first time out of the U.S., I was very nervous. My Japanese speaking ability is very limited. But the little bit I do know people were very excepting of me because I was trying to speak the language. I can't wait to go back. Thank you for your videos they are awesome.
My Japanese wife and I got married in the United States, but we did dress up in the traditional clothes in Japan with her parents and did a photo shoot with them.
If you don't commute by train or bus on the regular of course you'd expect it to be faster. Its like that everywhere. Having your own car is a one stop shop if that's your goal, other wise you are on the transits time, not yours. That was kinda of weird expectation to have lol
I testify on Google Maps reliability for getting around in Japan. Not perfect, but pretty damn helpful. I always use it in Japan. I remember I was in Japan during the time of iPhone4 when Apple Maps first came out and they decided to wipe out Google Maps out of their platform. It was a really dumb move on Apple's part as they don't have much data to have a proper map. I was so frustrated that I could not find anything, so I switched to old school way of finding out directions. That was a fatal mistake for me from Apple, and I switched to Samsung phones ever since.
@@Mecks089 first time I went there was in 2004. There were no luxury of apps. I had a paper map of Tokyo, JR, and Metro to get around. Also, need to talk to the locals to get to know where things are 😅... It was more difficult then if you don't know any Japanese, no Google Translate. Beginner level Japanese really helped. With technology, traveling to Japan had become much and much easier over the years. Maps, guides, "Instagram"-able locations, UA-camr reviewing cities, foods, tourist spots, increased Japan's visibility and contributed to the increase in tourists (pre pandemic).
