Thank you for this amazing tutorial! I just finished part 1 and realize this is not a 3 part, or 4 part tutorial, but a 15 part all-on-one tutorial all uploaded, completely for free. The production value of this tutorial is just awesome. You could've easily charge $50 dollar from each viewer and get hundreds of purchases. I just want to say thank you for making this free.
I'm getting back to rigging after a good 11 years. And this is by far the best content I've come across yet! Love it! Massive respect for keeping it free! ❤️
Thank you so much for your tutorial, this is exactly the kind of explanations I wanted to hear. I have a trick for you though, if you want to change the "rotate order" without using a script, just go in the ''attribute spread sheet'' while selecting the bones and write "order" (for example) in the search bar. If you go in the "all" tab, you should see the bones and the rotate order. you can select all at once and write "1" in the boxes! And of course it also works with "Segment scale component" and so on. I hope this will help you !
This tutorial is the best rigging tutorial I can find online. I am working on my Final group project and I was needed to make a complicated robot rig in Maya. I have basic rigging knowledge but it is scattered across multiple small tutorials and I'm always scared I might be forgetting something important in-between, but this tutorial helps me go down the correct pipeline and reminds me of the little yet important things I might forget along the way. 10/10
I was seeking for professional tutorial about maya rigging and I really really appreciate I can see these tutorials for free. thank you so much! you are life saver
This is by far the most well explained, detailed and structured course that you will find on the "Rigging/Skinning in Maya" topic. This is even better than a tutorial, this is a full course (with the bonus of problems fixing, which I tend to believe are really instructive). The author takes time to go through each steps of the process, the narrative is very well prononce (which make it easy for non native English speaker), and the audio is very well recorded. What do you want more, my dear 4 haters (at the moment)? What a good job you have done there! Respect and thanks a lot for this! Amazing!
With these tutorials you may have just saved me from failing my class! 😂 Your instructions are so clear and concise, the fact that you are educating us with these for *free* is an absolute blessing! Thank you! 🙌

One of the best quality content on rigging I've come across. Thanks a lot for putting your time and effort and make these videos available for free, awesome work! :)
I have been looking for rigging courses/tutorials for a long time, and I was so scared to take them or watching them as I am a beginner in rigging, the way you teach and explain is so professional and fun to watch. thank you so much! Looking forward to watch your videos and learn more from you!
Just for general Information: At least in Maya 2020 you can use the "Attribute Spread Sheet" under "Windows/General Editors" to change all attributes of current selection at once. Pretty powerful tool.
Not only the best maya rigging tutorials on youtube, but it is a complete and comprehensive course. Absolutely amazing work you've done, mate. Thank you very much.
Thank you for this tutor! But I can't understand how you rotate Local Axes (33:20 min). I choose the same options and can't grab Axes! They aren't clickable. Joints are blue the same as your joints at the video, but I can't click on axes to rotate them((
Very informative and well-structured video! Thank you, very much! Probably most production-based info-packed video i've seen out there not only about handling things in maya, but on rigging overall. I feel like Im so gonna enojoy this series :)
At 35:38 you said you didn't know how to fix the error in the rotation attribute without using a code, I did a random test, I tried freezing transforms but that failed, but if you un-parent the rotated joint/joints and then plug in 0 into the rotation attribute and then re-parent that joint it looks to me that the problem is fixed without needing code. Please test this out before actually using it, but this could be a possible fix for anyone that needs it!
Damn it, I love watching videos like this even though it's long! I'd rather learn the fundamentals along its practical uses than just follow along short tutorials which, in most cases, skip questions like why's, how's, and what's. Cheers bro! I subscribed. :D
thank you so much, it really helped me, because before i watch this video i didnt know how to scale joint grouply, i dont know the function of rotate order, and orient joint tool. And finally i know that. Your video really helped to learn rigging in maya. thank you
Just finished the video - it was captivating to follow through... It's clear you're taking your time to go through everything, it's hard to find videos like these, most of the time I feel like i'm not told everything i need to know to completely understand what i'm trying to learn, and it demotivates me, unlike here
Thank you so much for great tutorials, trying to get back into rigging after prolonged break, any tip why running joint -e -zso wouldn't work? No errors
I have a question now. When mirroring using behavior, and the Y axis is not facing the bone, but the opposite side, will it not mess up in for example Unreal Engine? or as long as Y axis represents bone direction it doesn’t matter if it’s facing front or back of the bone?
Fixed it - I had to press ctrl+enter, not just enter. Now the local rotate axis do align... Coming back to this part, I have a problem running the joint -e -zso script after editing the local rotation axes on my thumb joints. Nothing happens after I hit enter. I made sure i'm in select by object type, type in the script, select one joint or more, highlight the script and hit enter. Rotate axis remains the same visually and in the attribute editor. I think the only difference from what's in your video is that ''joint'' is highlighted in blue in mel. I'm using maya 2018;
