Sir La Table Removeable Door Modification

- Quite a Deal at Costco last year I was surprised to find the door is not removeable. After fiddling with less destructive methods, I used a Dremel saw to fix the problem.

I have the sur la table air fryer with the front door that opens from the top down. The only way to be able to clean the area between the machine and the door (the crack where all the gunk collects) is to unscrew the bottom panel, I used a butter knife to wedge apart the bottom panel and partially remove it, there are wires that are attached to it, but enough length for you to be able to access the underside. Once you remove the bottom side, there is another two screws towards the front of the air fryer that you unscrew and remove a small rectangular piece which helps to hold the door in place. Unscrew that piece and the door will wiggle off. I was able to clean out all the excess grease, food crumbs etc. good luck!
Can you find a way to make it not beep so loud?
Seems to be a common complaint. Looks like there is no easy way. Disassemble to the control board and remove or put tape over the beeper.
Turn it upside down open the bottom, there are two screws that lock the door in place. No need to cut out anything.
😲 Mine needed cleaning so I took the bottom off and decided to leave the piece in with the tabs cutoff. It looks like it might have a small structural advantage, though not really necessary.

That's what I did. A little retention plate with clips built in and 2 screws.just leave them out ,🤷
Took the 2 screws out and the door comes right off with a little jiggling!

@@EdwardSun1 that's a shame because it was a helpful video. All I can offer is that the bottom needs to be removed. Then you will see a plastic bar with the tabs I cut off. You can remove the plastic bar or cut off the tabs and put the plastic bar back on. I like the latter because it's more structurally sound. Using a reciprocating tool like I show means you don't need to take the oven apart.
