  • As you know I have been looking for a better air fryer then the Gourmia we have. Last week saw this as a black Friday special for $79 and decided to order one online. Well it's turning out to be the perfect air fryer for us. We love how easy it is to use and the excellent results we have seen so far. Cooking 8 meals in this video so it's long.

    We just got this exact model from Costco 3 days ago.
    I’m very frustrated, but encouraged with your video. I will keep trying.
    I made premade stuffed peppers from Costco. In the oven it would have taken 60 minutes, I followed the recipe book and put them in for 20 minutes and the tops were almost black due to the cheese already on. Tasted fine with tomato sauce all over.
    Next day, I did homemade fries. Everyone who has an air fryer raves about the fries. Well, I followed the recipe book and cooked them for 20 minutes at 400° and they were still soggy. Put them in another 5 minutes, still not thrilled. I could have made them on my cast iron griddle much faster.
    I can’t stress enough what a great job you did with your video. It’s very helpful!

      It can take some time to work out the times and temperature to use with these. I find sweet potatoes will never get fully crispy no matter mater what we do but we enjoy the fresh flavor. For plain fries I cut them smaller to get crispy fries. Another thing we have found is Aldi sometimes has unflavored quick fries in the frozen area that crisp up perfectly in. less then 10 minutes for the grandkids that want real crispy potatoes. Things with cheese on them may need some foil on top for half the time to prevent drying and burning but we always use the gas oven at a lower temp for items that the cheese topping cant be addeed to at the end. These are really not a replacement for an oven so we still use both. Thanks for watching.

      I’m with you. I’m not impressed. I cooked chicken for 20 minutes. It was still frozen in the middle

    Thanks so much. I just purchased this unit Feb 15, 2022 and your video is so helpful and well done and I mean so very well done. My husband was listening to it as he was doing something else and commented what a great job you were doing. He's done training programs on the corporate level before retiring and isn't generous with his praise. Showing us how to use the rotisserie and the basket is very helpful. Many blessings.

      Glad it was helpful. I just try to show enough to give people the confidence needed to get started using an item like this. We love ours and it's the perfect size for our needs. In my last life I used to write manuals for, do operator and maintenance training programs for machines I engineered as they were put into production. Guess that may influence my videos. Thanks for watching.

    Great review! I appreciate that you tried so many aspects of it. I got one at the same great buy. I tried the dehydrator on grapes. It took 4 days of full time drying with that noisy fan running at their preset temperature of 120°. I don't have a dehydrator but would definitely use my oven next time. Your review has convinced me to keep it and try different foods and accessories. I've never owned an air fryer before but liked the large capacity of this one. AND the price and Costco guarantee! Thank you ☺️

      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks. They are good for cooking many items but really not the best to do things like dehydrate and toast items as advertised. Don't be afraid to try small batches of anything you would cook in your oven. Just shorten the cook time to start and then add time at the end if needed. We write down the time for each item for future reference and the next time you cook the item it's basically set and forget. Thanks for watching.

    Thank you, Sir, for your time and troublr to create and produce this wonderfully detailed demo. Videography is a complex and time consuming art. Good cooking is another! Good on you for both! We bought this and love cooking in it for 2-4 people. Most beautifully browned whole chicken I ever made... but not with rotisserie, bc it wouldn't fit, as much fussing as I had to do with those forks! But everything else about it I love. Our other toaster oven got too hot on the outside, this one is well insulated and safer, just a bit smaller. Great not to have to heat up the big gas oven for a small meal, especially in summer. Much more energy efficient, and way better browning and crisping! Thanks for the review, so helpful and instructive!

      PS I didn't get the Black Friday price, but the Costco price I still considered a bargain for what it can do, and how much I use it now. It was worth it for us.

      We love ours and it works great. Those rotisserie forks are basically useless for a surface that is not flat. Some cotton butcher string can help keep a small chicken in place. Glad you are enjoying yours. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks so much for doing this review. I have the Gourmet air fryer oven( #GAF=678) that appears to be an exact same machine. It has all the same attachments. I've had my machine for almost two years now. Watching you run the machine through its paces has given me the interest to do the same. This video is a wonderful review!

    We have the same kind, and I leave it right on the counter about an inch or so from the wall. Never had a problem, the wall doesn't get that hot even at 400°. The rotisserie feature is the reason we got ours. Love the rotisserie chicken and kabobs. Suggestion: Place some aluminum foil on the grease tray when frying anything that drips, it just makes cleanup much easier.

      We have a wood wall behind it and there definitely would be a fire if it was that close. Aluminum foil would help with cleanup. Thanks for the tip. Thanks for watching.

    I LOVE YOU. I live in Chicago, and I have created an attractive backbyard with an elevated brick garden. I believe in "outside living space ", and my garden is a pleasant surprise to many. Sidebar: mom grew corn - yes- super high corn stalks and people freaked out. 😅. I am NOT that skilled. I read books/watch videos -- and follow suggestions (like yours) & make things happen. I have a "square foot garden". Each year i grow everything I like.
    I know this video is about the machine - but- listening to you brought me joy in a most unexpected manner. You grow your food , AND, cook it in this massive machine. The machine intimidated, and irritated me until I watched you. You know how to preserve your food. I want to use this machine the way YOU use it. Eating veggies you grow.
    Last year I had a ton of herbs, tomatoes, and egg plant. This year I did herbs, tomatoes and MASSIVE squash. I was stressed because I love growing, but I don't know how to preserve anything. My husband bought me this for Christmas. We laughed because the selling point was "dehydration". Possibly because I have herbs all over the tables. They smell great & I want to preserve them. I bought ice containers to freeze them. Tried everything. Then I found you.
    I'm not a "cooker". I feel like a punk. This machine intimidates me. The fruits of my gardening labor stresses me out. What excites me is laying sod. Laying pavers, and landscaping. However- I'm a newlywed and I want to impress my husband. I want to use His gift to me, and present wonderful (YET EASY, STRESS FREE) meals.
    I want to believe this machine (and your guidance) can make me look competent.
    I want to subscribe to you... NOT ONLY to hear about the machine. I want to learn how to live off the land. What to grow, preserve, and cook in this machine for a nice family meal. Your menus were tasty, and simple because of this machine. I grow great veggies that are becoming decorations.😢.
    I want to use this machine because you make it look easy. Your presentation is the biggest selling point. I have seen other reviews, but your review has me SOLD!!!
    I am open to suggestions ...

    First I watched your video and then decided to go for it. Costco 🇨🇦 has it on sale and it is replacing a well-used Cuisinart toaster oven which has convection but I’d like to try air frying. Just unboxed it and it looks great on the counter under the cupboard. Sitting down to read manual and recipe booklet and decided to watch your video again. 👍🏽 👍🏽. Looking forward to running it through its paces!!!
    I’d love it if you did another video now a year later sharing more things you’ve made and learned. Thanks for a great video. Subscribed ✅ 😊

      We first tried that Cuisinart Air Fryer from Costco and it just didn't cook right and got the wall and cabinets so hot it could burn the house down. We really like this one and still no problems. Biggest problem is the door doesn't come off so I have to use compressed air to blow the crumbs out every once in a while. Don't be afraid to try cooking other items in it. It's like a big experiment and if you watch it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for watching.

    We just bought one of these Sur La Table air fryers from Costco and we're still getting used to how it works. Chicken cutlets on two different shelves at the same time is a challenge because the top shelf gets more heat. Like you said, it's a learning process. Thanks for showing us how to use all the attachments.

    Thank you for the great video. I have been watching all kinds of videos on Air fryer's. Your the first one to cook home made french fries. I always make fresh. Also I make home made chicken fingers. I wonder how they would cook up,

      Thanks. Most of the commercial fries are just to salty and taste nothing like potatoes. We do chicken tenderloins and you have to be careful they don't get to dry. Check them with a thermometer for best results. Thanks for watching.

      Your words touched my heart. Please don't be offended or- irritated... but I'm praying that you get all that your heart desires. Divorce is hard. We don't get married thinking that we would be divorced. Over a decade later, trying to manage a broken hearted teen. We are all learning. I chose PEACE over Chaos. Whatever you chose- know that you will be fine (no matter the challenge).
      This is my 2nd marriage, and I never thought I would marry my best friend. Divorce doesn't define us... it just give us a chance to be blessed with our Forever Person.
      Be kind, patient, and loving to yourself. The energy you seek will find you. 🙏

    Thank you so much for your very helpful videos. The instructions you get with this are pathetic, so your review was so very helpful. I bought ours 2 weeks ago but didn't think to use the round basket for the fries, will try that next time. Thank you!

      Glad it helped. Don't be afraid to try different ways. The round basket is easiest for fries but the big basket works well if you turn them a couple times. We love this air fryer. Thanks for watching.

    Great review thanks for sharing. I bought this the day before the sale🤦‍♂️ but Costco refunded the difference no questions asked. So far I Love this. My first try was frozen fries in the rottesier basket, came out perfect! Next I did breaded chicken fingers then honey glazed salmon and a vegetable medley. Then another salmon dish with air fryer broccoli. Everything turned out great. I’ve only had two issues with it. The first is that I can’t find anywhere that says how long it takes to preheat so I ended up doing what you did and added 2 minutes. Still frustrating though. The second issue is everything has turned out so good my wife has given me cooking duties now 🤪. In fact I’m getting ready to do balsamic glazed brussel sprouts to go with our grilled steak. Thanks again.

      UPDATE to my earlier post from yesterday. Used the fryer to make bacon basalmic glazed brussel sprouts. Worked pretty good(tasted awesome) but I need to work on the time a little bit. A couple of notes on the item: the non stick coating on all the trays works really really well. Clean up is a snap BUT it is very thin and scratches super easy. I’d be very careful storing the accy’s inside the basket without first lining it. The inside of the unit seems to have a nonstick coating as well that cleans up super easy, literally just wipe it down. Second, be very careful when cleaning the rotisserie basket as the wire mesh is really sharp and can slice you if you’re not careful. Overall I still love the unit and with Pinterest them recipe ideas are endless(& easy).

      We have been putting the basket in the dishwasher because there is no easy way to get it clean hand washing. Also a small piece of foil on the drip pan helps some. We tried Brussel sprouts but this dry's them out a little much for our liking. We still use the oven for most veggies.

    THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! For your review of this exact model/air fryer from Costco! I scored on this item as well and am loving it! But, alas, there are hardly any real reviews on this particular AF as it seems to be "new" and a take-off of the Vortex Plus one. I didn't find much help at the company website. I haven't had the bravery to use the rotisserie or cylinder basket features yet. I agree on cleaning the door/hinge area (you mentioned this in another comment). There are a couple of videos I've seen where the door is removable. It feels like this door is able to do that, but I'm not ready to try that yet! But, overall, cleanup has been a breeze. The worse was the breaded pork tenderloins...they were delicious, but there were crumbs everywhere when I pulled out the baking screen. Removing the door would've helped. Made bacon this morning... YUM!!! Game changer! Yes, there was cleanup involved, but minimal and again, a breeze. So far I'm very happy with this purchase and thankful that Costco had it as a Black Friday item. My only complaint is the minimal instructions for cleaning tips, etc., but that's where YOU and others come in to save the day! I'm a subscriber now, so I hope you have many more demos and recipes/tips to share that are specific to this air fryer. Well Done!!!

      Question: Does your digital cooking guide come on when you plug it in and then almost immediately shut off except for the "on" symbol? Wondering why it does that because one has to use it almost immediately to preheat, set the temp, time, preset feature, etc. It just doesn't make sense to me that it doesn't stay on. But then again, I'm new at AF'ing and maybe this is normal on other AF'ers? 🤷‍♀️

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  2 роки тому +2

      I still haven't figured out how to get the door off but that would really help the cleanup. I use my hand held vacuum now that works ok. The panel only stays on when there is time on the timer. I think they made it turn off fast so kids don't get interested and start it up. It's sad they don't write a decent instruction book for getting started. Thanks for watching and subbing.

    • @rmrfamily
      @rmrfamily 2 роки тому +3

      @@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Glad I'm not the only one who agrees the instruction book isn't very detailed. Makes sense about the panel shutting off right away to keep kids from trying to start it up. Never thought of that scenario. I came up with a trick for catching crumbs. I did discover a trick that I'm going to use. I have a black-colored oven liner sheet that can be cut to any size. I made a 10"x11.5" shape and will put that over the hinges and window of the open door to catch any drippings/crumbs. It's heat resistant and lays flat. It's thin enough that if need be can be slipped under the drip tray. But don't use it during the cooking process...only to catch crumbs/drippings when removing the cooking tray to flip or when done cooking. I tested this out today when I made a grilled cheese sandwich. Worked like a charm! (Check out Lana Under Pressure videos re the Vortex Plus AF which is very similar to the Sur La Table one. I learned a lot of tricks watching her videos.)
