This dudes out here exercising some crazy skill. Everyone knows that this is entirely possible, but the expertise and time required makes it impractical. Amazing job!
A lot of times if you buy a part cab the paperwork on it is no good and then you can't use it on the road because vin swaps are illegal so the easiest way of having a legal on the rd is just use parts and keep the cab with the good paperwork
I definitely thought about it, California is just a little weird when it comes to multiple Vin numbers and CHP inspections don’t always go well. I could’ve tried to get blue tagged, but decided just to make the cut.
If that 120v extension cord is good enough to carry the i assume near 20 amps then it will carry 20 amps at 240v so make an adapter to be able to plug it into the 240 outlet just make sure you are paying attention and not plug your grinder in to 240v
This is something I've always wanted to do, but to an OBS Suburban. Crew cab OBS trucks with 4WD and the 350 are hard to find, since they were only available as 2500 and 3500. The ones that do appear are so expensive. I can get an OBS 4WD suburban for around $1,500.
Gota luv it....California wer u can modify your cigarette lighter inside ur car can't even put a k&n airfilter in your car but u can cut a suburban in half with ur rear wheels almost at the back of the cab wall....no problem.....wtf
You have to factor in all the materials you got in it id bet its close to another $1000 with the wire and im sure grinding disk the seam sealer im not sure if paint was on there electricity is probably hard to quantity but its something
The Suburban chassis is shorter than the one on the crew cab Silverado 1500HD and the body mounts don't line up, it's not just a direct swap. You can see in the video itself that he had to relocate the body mounts for the back of the cab and had to modify that flatbed to make it fit. The GMT800 trucks are all about the same from the dashboard forward, but the middle and rear frame sections are different on each model and wheelbase configuration.
Love the bronco rims on it, thought about buying some on fb marketplace for my 1st gen sequoia. There are always a few sets for cheap, just not sure on the offset?
In all honesty, the SUVs held up better than the 1500s frame wise. Don't ask me why less cross members? bigger cross members? Soccer mom original owners
@@meta2016 no I’ve not heard from him. As soon as I find a wrecked Corvette or Camaro something with an aluminum LS I will work on it. But it’s got to be cheap. lol
Yes, you can totally do that but the rear body mounts will be different. The main reason I kept the front of mine is for the Vin numbers California is especially weird about cab swaps and what not.
@@flossymissiles i am from nj i don’t believe they care about cab swaps much but they love copying california is laws so don’t know if they will change that i m planning on using a single cab do you know if that would be easier or the same understand body mounts might not be placed the same not that hard to cut them off and hold them though

Why not just cab swap?

He should’ve called it a “Suburbalanche” instead, that would be more fitting for a mod like this
@@agus13valdezdon’t know what state you stay in but in Florida we do it all the time no vehicle inspections no one would know

Definitely not lying about the trucks being more expensive.. Little do guys know the SUV is a diamond in the rough
I think it’s cool I was going to cut down a 2003 Chevy suburban to a Chevy avalanche
It’s definitely possible
Or you could just sell the suburban and buy an avalanche just sayin🤷♂️
@@itsJayden461 Avalanches hold their value; it just depends how good of a price/condition both options are at the time of deciding.
4x4 on that suburban? I have an 06 avalanche I’ve been thinking about getting rid of to get a Tahoe/sub or yukon.

Sweet little truck. I think something that’s underrated is how easy of lives that these SUVs live relative to their truck counterparts.

Awesome to watch the work process and outcome. Inspiring

I don’t think so 🤔

Holy crap that’s insane. It’s possible but I’m way too lazy to do something like this!!!
