For this build, I took inspiration from the Max Power demo car known as Project 2000. I pay tribute to the car currently owned by Jamie Brothwell by stripping the Majorette model of its pale blue paint and turning it luminous pink for the Diecast Heroes' Volume 15 'Back to 80s & 90s' diecast challenge. In the spirit of Max Power, I modify the body to give it an oversized rear wing, twin headlamps, and Momo Arrow alloy wheels.
Max Power was more a lifestyle than a simple automotive magazine. At times, it was the best selling magazine in Europe. It featured mad modifications, bonkers body kits and performance upgrades that were not simply limited to the mechanicals. Usually it extended to the sound system too! It was associated with laddish behaviour and the cruise events it promoted often saw police presence and negative media coverage. However, for a young generation of enthusiasts it proved to be something of a bible.
The casting is based on a Mark V Ford Escort. While Project 2000 was based on a sixth generation RS2000, this provides an older, more sedate foundation. It was produced by Majorette between 1992 and 2003 while the real thing was built from 1990 to 1995.

I used to read Chrome&Flames in the 90's, and a german Ford magazine for a while, until the content became more and more who could fit the most expensive stereo in there rather than customizing and tuning the ride up by yourself as much as you can possibly do. one magazine's last straw with me was a car where the owner decided on NOTHING himself. not the model or year or the wheels, or the paint, or the interior... all he did was paying the bills. so, whose custom WAS it?
so I slowly stopped reading all those magazines...
I had both ps games , i lived though the max power years. What a time. Keep up the good work . Looking forward to more max pawer die cast cars. Maybe a nova or the Carlton give away car from max power.
It's a very pinkish car but it turns out awesome. The new frontend, the Tires and the rearspoiler makes it a nice wonnabe racecar... 😀

Wear gloves when dabbling in paint remover!!! That said, our Escorts in the US didn't share anything with the Europeans ones. What's funny, is that the MKI American and MKIII European were supposed to be the same, but ended up only sharing the engine and the automatic transmission. Only the MKI and MKII had hatchbacks and the MKII hatchbacks looked more like a two door coupe than a hatchback (to the point where I thought we never had had any hatchback Escorts here in North America).
Really nice custom, I dig pink cars I have to say. Sad that the gaps between the body and the headlight are that big tho, but it's not something you can do anything about.
I used a Majorette Sierra hatchback into a Sapphire Cosworth 😂
I started another last year - even bought proper Cosworth wheels for it. I should really finish it but I ran out of steam last year.
