Rad! The Europa is just about the only Superfast model that interests me. I loved the car as a kid (esp the JPS) and still love the early Matchbox in blue with narrow wheels . Love the early box art too. Thanks and congrats on a lovely rebuild! Should also mention we watched the Monaco F1 early seventies Historics race last night and there were a couple gold on black JPS’s out there. Amazing how small those cars are compared to the F1 cars
Nice one Jason. Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious with regards to the windscreen. Turned out really cool. Suits black/gold. Had one during the early1980s as part of 5 or 6 sports car set. Also blue one whilst in hospital. Light pink came later with 'nail varnish' pink later still, ahh, happy memories indeed. Keep er lit ya boy ye
I first saw a Europa as a kid, when I lived on a USAF base in the Philippines in the 70s. I thought it was hideous. I still do, but you did a great job with this resto. :-)
As ever, a great restoration. Black Square do brilliant decals. I've used them several times. I prefer the Lesney Europa,, but have a soft spot for the Lone Star....but that's cos I love the brand!😊
Matchbox released in 2008 A Lotus Europa Special (1972) Black(Metallic)with gold striping, but missing the JPS logo on the bonnet. It included the gold stripes on the bonnet, nose, roof, stripes down either sides and on the back upper sides of the car. Like you, I'm more used to the older version. I had the blue one as a kid.
That black and gold is fantastic! the blue version looks very nice, but the color could be richer imo. For my two cents, I vote black and gold on this Black Beauty.🙂
Great looking JPS inspired Lotus Europa , the black and gold really suits it , l think you could've gone the extra mile with chroming tge bumpers adding detail to the headlights and tail lights Jason , but over all looks great 👍
I've done one in black and gold but not with JPS logos. I have another one in my to do pile, but I haven't decided on a colour scheme Great to work on this one.
If you want a pink one to restore and fancy a challenge, I have a pink one somewhere that's somehow bent from the windscreen forwards. Would be great to see if you can fix it without having to replace anything ;)
looking great, the gold on black livery by JPS always adds a lot of style to the substance. :) not sure which one is better, but I think the Lone Star has better proportions compared to the wheel size. but both seem to sit too high?
I left a large enough burr on the drilled narrow posts so that the base connects securely when pushed firmly back on. It usually gives a satisfying click to let me know it was successful 😅

Should’ve cut that stupid tow bar off, beyond me why they had to put them on so many cars that would never tow anything.
