Such a truly wonderful teacher - I googled to see whether Don had more classes online and read the very sad news that Don passed away suddenly in 2015 - RIP and condolences to his loved ones.
I like how legit this guys is. Most other art retailers talk about how paint is changed at a molecular level (which is technically true) and that it’s too complicated for them to understand it. But they avoid saying that it’s just an emulsifier that’s added because that sounds too simple and not cool enough to sell. Same as Gamblin saying that their student grade paint has ‘marble dust’ mixed in to sound classy, which is still technically correct but at the end of they day, it’s calcium carbonate, which is also chalk but that doesn’t sound great in marketing does it?
These COBRA paints are truly truly a gamechanger in the market. I paint everywhere. But getting rid of the solvents and cleaning the brushes is quite a pain in the ass. Plus when I do a direct alla prima portret painting from a pet or a person, that pet or person can *sniff sniff cough cough sneeze* or get naussia from my solvents. Even when I use gamsol I see that especially dogs get drooly or even asthmatic attacks once! Man I don't want that. Brings down the mood. THIS STUFF IS AMAZING THANK YOU GUYS FOR THIS INVENTION. also, the fact that the pigment is extra fine helps. Winsor and newtons watermixable oils are full with clumbs and even grainy. Horrible! Thanks guys and a happy new year❤

I've never liked the smell of solvents and cleaning oils from brushes and palettes is such a pain. This addresses the problem that acrylics oftentimes dry too fast for subtle blending, and sometimes look too plastic when dry.
digitalsketchguy ACRILIC COLORS .........! Definitly, they dry TOO fast ! A good working time acrilics should not dry faster then 30 minutes....and it well might be dry in 3- 6 or maximul 12 hours..( let's say 24 hours for a very thick film of color ).....Or.....
Excellent! I wanted to learn to paint with oils but I will not work with solvents as I feel they are very unhealthy. I bought some water mixable oils but haven't used them yet. Thank you for such clear teaching in this area. I look forward to learning more from the next lessons.

I only started using cobra water mixable oil recently. I have the mixable medium as well as fast drying medium in my paintings. My concern now is when can you varnish the completed painting? How long have to wait and how do you apply the varnish? Thank you
Hi thanks for watching the video. In answer to your question; you cannot mix wax with water based paints, but you can mix it with watersoluble oil colour if you wish to. Remember that water-mixable oils and water-based paints are different! Hope this helps
Hi there, we would recommend a brush with synthetic bristles as you will find that if you use a brush that has natural bristles, the bristles will swell and absorb the water. So in terms of whether the brushes are for oil or acrylic, it's not as important as whether they are synthetic or natural bristles. Hope this helps!

Yes absolutely, you can paint with watermixable oils over acrylic underpainting, but it is not advisable to mix wet watermixable oils with acrylic - they will have different drying rates which means that if they are not completely evenly mixed some strange effects may occur during the drying process, such as cracking.... not good!
It is not advisable to mix acrylic with watermixable oil generally, although Holbein Duo Aqua do state that their paints can be mixed with acrylic. Each brand is different, Cobra paints do not state whether you can mix so I think it's unlikely, but you could give it a go and see what happens on a test panel.
Jackson's Art Supplies I've been working the oils over thin acrylic and they seem to be going well. It's just for my ideas book. I assumed because you use acrylic gesso to prime a canvas you could use the paints.

I was taught never mix the paint with waer..theyre made just for easy washing the brushes out in water !!@
