Thank you for saving me from these diet cults. I was deep into this stuff, but you have shown me the light. Dieting has been way simpler and I’ve never felt better
Carnivore works for many because plant defense chemicals do cause problems and so do carbs. Some seem to need (quality) carbs, others do better without them. We know that those who have problems with weight usually manage to loose weight with lowering their carbs. We also know that those with Alzheimer, epilepsy and autism do good with keto diet. There is no evidence that replacing meat with vegetables is good for you. In fact the best scientific studies, observations and other evidence tells it's the opposite. "The association between a plant-based diet (vegetarianism) and extended life span is increasingly criticised since it may be based on the lack of representative data and insufficient removal of confounders such as lifestyles." "Worldwide, bivariate correlation analyses revealed that meat intake is positively correlated with life expectancies. This relationship remained significant when influences of caloric intake, urbanization, obesity, education and carbohydrate crops were statistically controlled. Stepwise linear regression selected meat intake, not carbohydrate crops, as one of the significant predictors of life expectancy. In contrast, carbohydrate crops showed weak and negative correlation with life expectancy." -Total Meat Intake is Associated with Life Expectancy: A Cross-Sectional Data Analysis of 175 Contemporary Populations
@@joshua9719Paul’s a flip flop and clearly the joke went over your head. There isn’t a diet fad he hasn’t done and his advice is contradictory at best.
While I haven't read the book he was pushing for the carnivore diet, it would have been vastly more interesting to me if it covered the downfall from eating that diet. Treat it like a proper experiment, showcase the good, the bad, and the ugly. Give people real information to make informed choices instead of pushing a narrative which may be harmful to many. It's so easy to get information out at scale today, I wish more people cared about how what they say impacts those who listen.
I met someone who did buy his book and showed me some pictures he took for reference and it's framed a lot less extremist compared to how he comes across. There's plants he deems that are lower risk as far as oxalate content and whatever and fish regarding mercury, etc. It did kind of change my mind on him a little bit, and then i watched his interview with Lillie Kane and he seems a lot more reasonable than in most of the shorts he does. It still bothers the hell out of me that his references are in vitro and animal models, though, and there are still a few holes in his logic sometimes.
@@gmw3083 Not overweight per se but she wasn't as lean as she is now. But from what I've seen most carnivores do come from being very overweight or obese and then focus on the weight loss and the subsequent effects from it.
@VegetaPrinceOfSaiyans I wonder when Shawn Baker and Anthony Chaffee will have to make modifications. Or if they're not really doing what they claim...

Paul told Mark and I that fruit was pornography and we were on the JV team of carnivore because we were open to eating fruit and some leafy greens. Mark was actually the one who convinced him to eat some carbs, but I’ve never heard him credit Mark. 🤔 Great video Layne.
People like Paul are so convinced they have all the answers, a lot of doctors I hate to say in my experience are like that, it's a God complex thing imo, they think their logic is infallible. Plus I saw him just recently adding a bunch of rosemary to his burgers, which are leaves, he said he doesn't eat leaves due to defense chemicals. And rosemary is full of defense chemicals, that's why it's useful as a pesticide. Making these hard lines in the sand just doesn't make sense to me, but to each their own.
Great Video Dr. Norton! Love how you covered it and also giving Paul a little bit of credit for changing his mind. I hope it changes to the better :-) Great work as always!
I followed Pauls advice of eating animal products, fruit, honey and experimented with foods and kept those in my diet that didn't upset my stomach. Feel great now. He's totally upfront about everything he does, always says that his supplements are convenient but not necessary, and he always says if you feel great eating veggies and what not then keep doing that. In a world where we have microplastic in human testicles I don't think the guy advocating for meat, milk, eggs, fruit and honey is the crazy one.
from what i can gather, people hate that he had one opinion, evolved and updated it after finding out it wasn't working for him, being upfront about it the whole time. so yea i don't get it, people are supposed to grow and evolve to find what works best
The bronze era guys like George Hackenschmidt advised eating widely and sensibly. Extremes of any kind usually have negative outcomes. But that don't sell no books or get no listeners/viewers that can be monetized into sponsorships and ads.

The Paul Saladino we all love, admire, and respect.
What's interesting is how many people have copied Saladino. A whole army of bros are on instagram, with unseasoned ground beef and bananas on a cutting board, exclaiming "this is the most optimal diet for humans!" We should call it "The Saladino Effect"

Not exactly. A carnivore lifestyle has some very great healthy effects, its an amazing reset diet. Paul has given great evidence to suggest how people could benefit from it and its true, they absolutely can. Now long term though, we see Paul change his mind. Its fantastic to see. He offers all of his reasoning with scientific resources/references and above all people try the diet. If it works for them they stick with it, if not then they go somewhere else.
the difference between Paul and so many other doctors is he has an open mind and is willing to change things even if he believes in them heavily. These vegans are somehow able to turn that against him. Paul is a great man and if you watch his content he goes way more into why he has certain opinions, and always provides studies to prove it
Wait so his eczema got worse when he was under stress in medical school and residency. Last I checked that is a trigger to, yet he seems unaware of this fun fact.
1000% Bingo. My First thought. As somebody that has adrenal PCOS with high cortisol ...All I can hear IS somebody that suffered with high cortisol due to stress.
Why? Paul literally just admitted he was writing his "Carnivore Code" while he was suffering the negative effects of that idiotic diet, the reason he's "admitting to his errors" years after publishing the book is probably because it's not make money anymore.
@@blarghmcblarghson1903 thats not true.. he said he was carnivore for years, when he wrote the book, then thru his experimentation with other foods (he constantly experiments) he felt that with some fruit he felt better, so he simply changed his mind. thats what science and experimentation is for. you discover something works better, so you change your thoughts on something.
I agree with you. Many people are very narrow-minded and dogmatic with diet whether it's carnivore, keto, high carb, low carb, gluten free, no vegetables, etc etc. I love when they realize they are wrong, openly admit it and talk about the experience.
Paul jumped from extreme diet to extreme diet and had deficiency issues. Wow, what a shock. Oh, and he got sick on a strict carnie diet, but is still selling The Carnivore Code on amazon. Really tells you all you need to know.
I like many people arrived at carnivore to fix many health problems that could have been prevented by avoiding a highly processed standard American diet. This has worked to reverse type 2 diabetes and a few other issues.
Many people did try that and had no succes until ketovore or carnivore.. I listened to many stories in full. And I also experienced it myself.. Doing it for 6 years now with no problems.. If I try to add natural occuring carbs everything kicks back.. I don't say anyone should do anything. But modern medicine is really fucked up so is the standard recommended diet... It's a bit worse than that. Watch the video.
This video is so great. I love the america nails your daughter did so good🇺🇲👏 I continue to learn so much about logic and reason from you. I've never heard the term "asymmetric application of logic" and I'm glad you described it so well
Really love the new t-shirt! And, also very much appreciate your generous handling of the Paul Saladino thing. It's nice to be able to step back a little from our respective tribes and just look at what the evidence shows. Also, as always, good to know that people can change their views, and you certainly have done that in the past. With that said, I'll continue to be very annoying, by asking when you plan to address the Simon hill, proof podcast, review of your review of the new study regarding protein consumption and longevity? As I said before, even if you don't want to speak to what Simon has pointed out, at least address the challenging views of multiple followers of yours right there in the comments below the video. Thanks, as always for all you do.
It's basically what Layne has always said. Any extreme in any directions is bad. Correlation does not equal causation. You're not going to cheat the LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS!
I would say it is extreme to cut out all animal products. Cutting out just meat is still pretty restrictive, but allows stuff like dairy and honey (maybe eggs, depending on how you define meat). Don’t get me wrong, I have a normal omnivore diet, I’m basically just saying vegans are waaay more annoying than vegetarians (some of whom even eat fish)
You're wrong on so many ways, just like Lame Norton. Human diet is NOT balanced, it's supposed to be the food that we can digest without any issues, i.e. muscle meat. Any plant based is not accessible and you're adding toxins. What about fruit? the issue is sugar, which is the next thing humans should not consume, we have a well working glucose production. Lame doesn't know what he's talking about, he's an influencer, not a scientist. And most nutrition based science papers are useless as there are too many factors and they quickly come to associations, which is NOT causality.
One more thing the first law of thermodynamics is valid for a CLOSED system, which the human body is NOT. It's not calorie in and out, it's mass in and out, calories are heat units, and a Snickers bar burnt under electric current is not what your body is doing, it is veeeery different
@viktorgoa the first law of thermodynamics is true for all systems. Don't lecture people and get basic stuff wrong. I'm an engineering graduate. In fact the first law specifically talks about doing work upon a system from outside You talk about Layne not being a scientist, but literally every large scale study. Either longitudinal, population, controlled etc shows that people who eat a wide variety of vegetables have lower incidence of cancer, better health span and lifespan, lower CVD etc etc etc. Your proof is, someone told me that humans can't digest plants so plants are bad. I suggest you look into the gut microbiome. The study of it is emerging rapidly and it helps us digest plants. Also humans have cooked for milkions of years which helps us break down plants. You are so clueless it's shameful
Yeah, Paul really comes across as assuming he is the representation of human normalcy, except normal people don’t freak out about getting pepper on their steak in the first place.
@@kylemckinney_22 Evolution and biology. There are tons of dietary findings in anthropology. Before the rise of agriculture, which is only 20k years old, and not enough time has passed for us to have really adapted to a mainly processed grain diet, we ate meat, fruit, roots, nuts, berries, and some grains/cereals. When you also look at availability of edible food stuffs, and the natural abundance of them, we clearly ate mostly meat mixed with whatever fruit and plant stuff (roots, seeds, nuts) was seasonally available. I am grossly oversimplifying, but in the main, I stay away from anything that hasn't existed for more than the last hundred or so years, or at least keep theh to a minimum. Surprisingly most of the veggies in the produce aisles are modern inventions. They used to be much less diverse and only used as garnish/flavor/sides. Seed oils were not mass produced. HF corn syrup wasn't added to everything, etc, etc. I admit that my approach may be completely wrong from an optimization standpoint, but I doubt it. It worked for millions of years, and our closest relatives (chimps and bonobos) also eat this way. I feel about our modern diets the way people who understand pandas look at their diet of bamboo.
@@PFirefly06 That's not entirely true. 20k years is actually quite a long time. It only takes a matter of a few thousand years to develop enzymes in a population as an adaptation to consume things other related animals may not. A great example is Lactose tolerance and our ability to metabolize theobromine. Both only took 3 to 5 thousand years to develop the adaptation necessary to allow us to metabolize these chemicals. Humans are incredibly successful creatures for a variety of reasons, one of them being our ability to consume quite an extreme variety of foods even by mammals' standards. 20k years is more than enough time to consider any food a healthy food group and the proof of that is the fact that the only people that were capable of thriving off those diets are the ones that lead to our existence today.
I have done a lot of research and I have concluded that having a cancerous tumor contributes to weight loss and as everyone knows weight loss is a good thing. If this was simply a personal journey I’d applaud him. Truly. But he pushed it out there and benefited off people believing in this carnivore thing and bolstered a whole community. Now years later “meh it’s not that serious and I don’t recommend it”. Bruh.
No one has all the answers. We should all experiment ourselves and be teachable instead of criticize others who are trying to help themselves and others, if possible. I think those that are in this space just want to feel their best and eat what works for us individually. Saladino seems to be open and teachable, while not getting all worked up if others choose to eat contrary to him.
@blaisecruise5037 after the book was released, and not just that but if you look at the timeline of his content and when he was actually getting negative effects and changing what he was doing etc (which has actually been outlined online for people to go read themselves), he was saying Carnivore was the best diet for optimal health at the same time that it eas messing him up and when he started changing what he did. Then significantly later he started changing what he said. In an interview he also basically said he didn't know any better, but the issue is that the state of science on the topic already said he was wrong at the time when he was promoting Carnivore. All the signs of a dishonest conman.
Great video. Im actually fully planted based (11yrs now) but felt welcome to chime in 😊. Paul has certainly been through some changes (as all passionate people tend to do) . That being said if you loom back through Ray Peats work on metabolism and higher protein its very similar to what Paul has coined Animal Based (or Joe Rogan coined it that). Ray Peat spoke of high Metabolism through sufficient carbohydrates and limiting fat to around 30-35% of total calories as a maximum (which would be more balanced macro). I think his message was shooting more for 20-25% so lower fat- but not super lowfat. Including plenty of protein and carbs kept Thyroid and Electrolytes high and the T3 levels from what ive read was all Ray Peats Influence. Ray Peat used to speak of the Randle Cycle well before many others popularised it. Cheers 😊.
Ken Berry seems pretty unwavering. But he seems a bit more "here's what I preach, it has helped a ton of people, take it or leave it". Even after seeing him as the gerd Messiah, trying carnie for a month, not working too well, then going back to a loose keto and realizing it is all kind of biased, I am STILL thinking I should go full carnivore for 90 days to see if that will actually cure my chronic gerd like he says.
@@KenWang2 I'm not familiar with the Randall cycle. Are you specifically referring to GERD? And what are you basing that statement on? There isn't any decent study on the carnivore diet as far as I'm aware. Is that based on a theoretical mechanism or on actual empirical data?
I've been eating mostly meat and fruits for years before it was a thing... I havde tried other diet approach, but this is the one that keeps me strong, lean, and most important healthy with almost no inflammation. Grains are a no fly zone for me 99% of the time

Caffeine is poisonous to insects so they don't eat the plant yet we enjoy it in coffee tea and cocoa. it's the dose that makes the poison, and it depends on the species consuming it, cocoa has health benefits for humans, it's toxic and can kill dogs and birds, Paul is partially right but he takes it to far

As a type 1 diabetic, I avoid going into a state of ketosis; I eat a healthy low carb diet by using glycemic load charts, but not Keto or Carnivore because that is dangerous for type 1 diabetics (I almost died by trying out Keto, which was really dumb of me, there is a reason they tell diabetics to use ketone strips, it is to keep diabetics OUT of ketosis not have them go into it.) I just found it amusing of the few amount of carbs he added back to his diet, he added fruit juice. Fruit juice will raise my blood sugar faster than anything even straight table sugar. Before they were able to test A1C, they used to test for diabetes by making someone drink orange juice then test their blood sugar over a period of hours to see how high it rose and how long it took to come back down because they knew fruit juice would raise it faster and keep it high longer than almost anything.
He adopted a more Ray Peat approach well over two years ago. You're a little late bro. But hey, anything to get likes. Saladino=Ratings. And hey, why don't you look as good as he does? You look kinda soft Layne.

To be fair, (to be faaaaaaiiiiir IYKYK) Saladino isn't as disingenuous as Layne thinks. He started having issues with carnivore and reintroduced fruits and honey years after the book. I think he misspoke when describing the timeline of when he started having issues with it.
Thanks for sharing Layne. I always find Paul’s videos amusing if not entertaining as there is little if any logic in them. Case in point, he promotes making and eating kefir as a means of improving gut flora. But then he says avoid veggies. Veggies high fibre content feeds gut flora and potentially improves gut diversity. That is accomplished by not only eating a wide divesristy of veggies, and not just fruits. While reasearch in the health benefits of a healthy gut flora is still in its infancy, based on the prevailing research, most influential people across most dietary camps(excluding carnivore) agree that having a healthy gut flora may have health benefits not previously known. A highly controversial figure , Dr William Davis even goes as far as affirming that thecresearch lends support that meat heavy diets are strongly associated with development of colorectal cancer. He also gives a funny analogy. He states that starving your gut flora by avoiding high fibre veggies is the equivalent of tieing your dog up in your backyard and not feeding it for a week. Bad things are going to happen!
Paul strikes me as a guy who’s successfully monetized his dietary idiosyncrasies. Just because Paul gets eczema from broccoli doesn’t mean it’s an unhealthy food.

Hi Layne! I appreciate ALL the science you bring to the masses in terms of health, wellness, fitness, etc. I am learning so much from you. I do believe Paul is genuine and believes what he preaches. He admits and definitely walks back things he has said and practiced in the past. He is learning, just like the rest of us- something we all should humbly admit, in my opinion. Science, opinions and the way in which we live our lives is always changing. Evolving is a part of the human existence. Humans are complex. At the end of the day, what works for some may not work for others- dietary, lifestyle, workout styles, etc. What are your individual goals? I believe many (or few) make such choices based on science AND what intuitively makes sense. Appreciate you!

I was carnivore for 2.5 years after eating a S.A.D. for a lifetime. Before that though I first got rid of processed foods, breads and most snacks and lost 30 pounds in 3 months. Then I discovered carnivore and jumped right in. At first it was pretty cool as it reduced some of my IBS symptoms, dandruff and some skin issues. I also loved the simplicity of eating carnivore. However I didn't lose any more weight, energy was low and constipation was an ongoing battle. After 2.5 years of that I started incorporating vegetables and some fruits and within just a few days felt noticeably better and movements were regular. I appreciate your video but you can't say carnivore is for everyone, and you sound like the biased one.
It's funny how carnivore became an actual long-term diet. It's a kind of elimination diet, and as such, it is just fine. But you really should reintroduce stuff after the main symptoms are gone and organs have healed. People were giving JBP's daughter a hard time while she was always stressing she had autoimmune disorder, and she really did try to reintroduce stuff. A few years later, suddenly full-on carnivore is the way... how? Internet should be illegal...

If you think you're getting enough fat on carnivore, eat some more and you might be getting close. Lots of energy now.
All of these carnivore influencers that wrote books like to act like they were the first ones. But that was really Vilhalmur Steffanson. The Fat of the Land. It’s a pretty good book. Something like 60 years old. Being carnivore can work for some people; some longer than others. I did it for four years and the ONLY reason I stopped is because I just sort lost my appetite for 3-5 pounds of meat a day. I had been in chronic pain for years and it made a huge difference! I had zero body odor. I reverse aged dramatically. I had a huge hairy mole on my back dry up and flake off. I have a very strenuous job climbing poles and pulling cable for production rates, and my numbers and therefore my pay went up significantly. My cognition improved quite a bit the first time I noticed that was because I no longer needed a gps everywhere I drove. If you had seen me before you would not think I had health issues at all. Still had abs and bicep veins, looked young for my age. But I glowed up a lot from being carnivore. I only had one blood test while I was doing it. I can’t remember exactly but my ldl was pretty high. About 180 I think. But my triglycerides were low. I did test my blood sugar several times. Always mid 80s. And I did a saliva testosterone test and it was right in the middle. Low ish T4. I got very lean and muscular, but with the loss of appetite I was losing weight at the end of the four years. My life long stomach issues were gone, and even three years later now are still greatly improved. Before I did it, I could have been considered a pretty healthy eater. Balanced whole food diet. I was always really gassy and had ibs for sure, which is a real hassle when you work outside. I was also always ravenously hungry. Being carnivore was transformative for me. One of the best decisions I’ve made in my entire life. I enjoy eating other things now, but if I start feeling any arthritis or bad brain fog or digestive issues I just eat beef and eggs for a few days and it clears right up. It’s an awesome tool for me. I’m almost 45, I’m in excellent shape. The best I have been in my life. I still work really hard, I waterski in a show, and I really enjoy having very very high energy levels. I don’t think everyone should do it out even try it. Most people can’t do it simply because it’s too hard. Their homes are full of standard American food and snacks for their families, and the temptations are too high, and it’s very socially awkward when everyone around you (who are usually very obviously metabolically unwell) are telling you you’re crazy and going to die, even when they are drinking beer and have had heart attacks etc. but I will say this: if you try it yourself because you have issues that carnivores have had success with, your opinions might change. I didn’t find out about it on social media. I didn’t even have social media. I got on social media because a friend gently suggested I try eating just meat to see if my pain would go away, which sounded ridiculous to me, but she is one of the most intelligent people I know so I tried it. Within three days I felt so so so much better I was in tears. Then I was thinking “do I have to do this forever and how am I not going to die”. Which lead me to the internet, social media, etc. that was the most negative part of the whole thing. Totally serious.
He should never be listened to because he changes something in his life, then runs to the top of the nearest mountain and makes all sorts of claims about how it's the most natural, the most "ancestrally appropriate", the most evolutionary diet. Whatever HE is doing is the best and everyone should be doing it, is essentially his actual framework. I'm not here to represent carnivore, the diet that works is the one that is easiest to stick to and controls your appetite. For me, that is an animal based diet. That doesn't mean I don't ever eat plants, it just means the bulk of my daily nutrition comes from animal products, usually around 90%+. I eat less often, I account for protein primarily in my diet which is vital for appetite control. I go to the gym 5 days a week, I dance for 4-5 hours a week, I'm pretty active and I manage to almost always feel great with that framework. Listening to Paul is like listening to Terrence Howard talk about opposite Eric Weinstein. He constantly makes all these connections that are meaningless in real world terms. It's like when Howard was talking about all the stuff his object lines up with, indicating to him that this is the most important thing and this is a fundamental of reality.
Sorry Paul but I think if you said this in med school they would expel you… they would berate him…. My problem is that he’s a psychiatrist, he isn’t the right person to take information from.
Saying vegetables are bad for human consumption is a huge statement. I don't agree 100% with Paul, but I do like the idea of plants not wanting to be eaten therefeore releasing these chemical toxins as a defense mechanism. I do eat broccoli, lettuce, onion, garlic, tomatoes etc. Don't see how they can be harmful I eat that everyday almost.
"but I do like the idea of plants not wanting to be eaten therefeore releasing these chemical toxins as a defense mechanism" May seem interesting, but does not mean it is true. We humans are smart and found that cooking certain foods allows us to eat and feed our bodies. This is why we don't eat raw potatoes and beans in modern times. A lot of humans experimented over many many years found we can survive and thrive when these raw foods are cooked.
It’s become very culty but the carnivore diet is good to “reset” and to see what foods you’re sensitive too when you start reincorporating foods back in. Especially when you have auto immune diseases. But not everyone has to go on or will feel well on a 80-100%meat based diet.
3 years from now he is going to start adding some veggies and just eating a normal balanced diet of whole foods

"The association between a plant-based diet (vegetarianism) and extended life span is increasingly criticised since it may be based on the lack of representative data and insufficient removal of confounders such as lifestyles."
"Worldwide, bivariate correlation analyses revealed that meat intake is positively correlated with life expectancies. This relationship remained significant when influences of caloric intake, urbanization, obesity, education and carbohydrate crops were statistically controlled. Stepwise linear regression selected meat intake, not carbohydrate crops, as one of the significant predictors of life expectancy. In contrast, carbohydrate crops showed weak and negative correlation with life expectancy."

It's basically what Layne has always said. Any extreme in any directions is bad. Correlation does not equal causation. You're not going to cheat the LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS!
Is it extreme to cut out all meat?
In fact the first law specifically talks about doing work upon a system from outside
You talk about Layne not being a scientist, but literally every large scale study.

He also said that he doesn’t think Paul is malicious, but biased and too invested in the carnivore diet to be 100% straight and speak about the important side effects he had but never mentioned in the book. He’s also making a video and videos without a little attempt at being funny or silly or dramatic as you claim it to be would not be a watchable video- especially if he just comes on the give Saladino credit without adding anything. People don’t watch his videos to listen to him applauding others. You would suck at being a UA-camr guy. So, I’m not sure who’s overreacting here, him or you.

2:55 "you have some muscle glycogen now..." Has Volek not shown, that muscle glycogen is the same and repleats on a keto diet in comparison to high carb?
Yes. And in case you havent notice, Layne publicly showed that he doesnt know how the Lipid energy model works. He literally couldnt comprehend how a lean mass hyper responder can reduce LDL when eating oreos. People who think that Layne is on the forefront of nutrition, truly have no idea.
@@snakeace0 Most certainly this is not the case. Since i can clearly remember Layne talking about the Professor reducing his LDL and improving his health by reducing calories on a twinkie diet. This does not fit into the picture you paint at all. But yes. He is very biased towards carbs. Liked to neglect the effects of long term adaptation to ketosis. Was basically throwing around Burkes study as if it was the word of god. Cuz... you know... DATA. Otherwise its feefis. Who the heck would care about countless athletes and people in general clearly describing, that their wellbeing needed months to normalize while training when in ketosis, right? And now this stuff with muscle glycogen, which does not make sense. And so on. But, yeah. He still knows his stuff.
Love your content and shirts. Your daughter did a fabulous job!
I read Layne’s book fat loss forever and something about the writing didn’t sit right with me. The way he writes just seems antagonistic and emotional, which sounds ironic considering the fact that he strongly pushes for evidence-based science in the book. But coming on the YT channel I definitely like the content a lot more 👍
Paul hasn’t been Carnivore for at least 3 years already. Why they keep making videos about it
Great stuff as always!
500 years ago the earth was flat, 200 years ago the sun revolved around the earth, two years ago people should only eat meat, imagine what we will learn in another two years.
Buddy, ask some people, and all those things are still correct.

To be fair, (to be faaaaaaiiiiir IYKYK) Saladino isn't as disingenuous as Layne thinks. He started having issues with carnivore and reintroduced fruits and honey years after the book.
I think he misspoke when describing the timeline of when he started having issues with it.
exactly, its disingenuous. Also Layne isn't some saint and gets things wrong too.

'it all breaks down to the same thing' is the biggest red flag in nutrition
Paul's passion is learning, growing, and telling others about it. Layne's passion is his ego and protecting it.
Paul’s passion is grifting

How dare someone evolve and change their view points over time.
My dietician says that ketosis has its place to correct certain things but then you have to get off of it for longterm health.
Paul in 10 years will be like: "So anyway i realised i had some nutrient and fiber deficiencies so I added some whole grain, pulses and veggies into my diet, and I reduced my fatty meat intake to reduce my LDL..." and when he reaches Mediterranean diet he'll call it the plant based carnivore diet or something lol
At least he is trying to solve the riddle of nutrition.

@@doctormarazanvose4373this is the dumbest comment I've ever seen on UA-cam
It's just a silly fad diet if you want to do it permantently, but it's good for finding out what's causing health issues by eliminating everything for a short while until issues get better, then slowly add 1 food back in each week and see your reactions until you find problem foods.
Human randomized control trials!!
Listening to what our bodies (symptoms) are trying to communicate with us is just as valid (in my opinion) as what the science of the times is telling us.
Thank you again for all of your content. Appreciate you!
@@rachaelalbanese1851 If Paul is genuinely admitting his past mistakes, then he should halt the sales of his Carnivores book and offer refunds.
@@MT-sq3jo good point
@@MT-sq3jo Exactly. I don't care if someone changes their mind about their diet or lifestyle. I do care when that person has put out a bunch of paid content (whether that's videos or books) claiming to have found "THE answer" but then changes their mind later after they've suckered a bunch of people and made a lot of money. Paul was only fully carnivore for a couple of years, which means he wrote "The Carnivore Code" very early in that dietary journey yet had the audacity to not only claim it was the perfect diet, but hasn't updated the book or pulled it from publication now that he's no longer eating that way.

Layne, then please explain why so many young people are getting cancer who appear otherwise healthy?
It’s interesting how Lane does not criticize Huberman!!!
@@RyNiuu Update: After a couple weeks of reintroducing other foods, I didn't care for it and naturally went back to carnivore. I learned I wasn't getting near enough fat before, and after literally eating butter throughout the day in between meat made all the difference in the world.

Keep rockin that finger paint. The men who are comfortable with themselves won't mind.
He stopped eating strict carnivore YEARS ago. Where have you been? Old information.
"but I do like the idea of plants not wanting to be eaten therefeore releasing these chemical toxins as a defense mechanism"
May seem interesting, but does not mean it is true.
I can't wait to get my human randomized control trial shirt
