    So, low glycemic index is usually correlated with whole foods rich in fibers, that's why you can make mistake about causality of glycemic index for weight loss and diabetes. There are refined sugars, like pure fructose, which have low glycemic index, and still will make your overweight and diabetic if you use them as replacement for whole food rich in fiber. So, don't be obsessed with glycemic index. It's based on correlations not causation.

It would be interesting to see if fructose has a disproportionate effect on liver fat levels relative to glucose or fat on a surplus diet as opposed to just a maintenance one.

    Lane you inform as if we don't have obesity epidemic and the food industry we do. People like Thomas gives a consumer what they need, a narrative to follow, that's how we humans work, we need a story. Granted its not the only story, but I. F., low carb and keto can all have extremely beneficial effects when prescribed correctly, which in my experience Thomas does an excellent job of. Now your story of calorie consumption overrides all, plainly doesn't work in this time in, this society, because we are where we are and your story has been THE story for at least the last 50 years. To add I'm an ex International gymnast (as well as a nutritionist a PT) and I'd like to draw out something about knowledge vs experience. My best friend wanted his shoulder rehabbing and went to a physio (sedentary elderly gent), after several months of no improvement, he came to me, now I am not a physio, but have had to rehab my shoulder and have been training my body for 35 years and I was able to rehab my friends shoulder in a couple of months. Apologies for the chip shop anecdote, but have you ever been extremely lean? Obviously one should not make arguments on the value of one (your own experience), but I do believe greater understanding is drawn from going through the process. In short, keep up the excellent information, but stop pretending the world isn't like it is.

      Lane has always said do what works for you and that nutrition is a war of attrition. You can say this diet works and this is how to stick to it without all they lies and nonsense. On a side note a lot of PTs are kind of in the same boat, they don't adopt the new research and stick to what they were taught. Which in some cases is decades old.

    Interesting that Thomas DeLauer did not talk about what is in the second sentence of the abstract he used in his video on the worst sugar. You know...the part that mentions over consumption of a high fat diet is also a major risk factor for NAFLD...I wonder why that is? lol!

      People are still looking for a magic solution.

    • @ThomasAT86
      @ThomasAT86 4 роки тому

      It's like wondering why people don't achieve their goals. As Arya already said...looking for the magic solution, avoiding the often times unexciting but simple and hard work, trying to be special, looking for shortcuts, avoiding realization of what they missed in life,... Specifically in terms of kcal in/kcal out I think it may be too simple or simply put for some people, or it's too sciency and they think that they are unicorns that are special and need special individualized attention, or it gets shared by people they just don't like because it reminds them of their father, or doctors or so.

      Have an argument with a buddy today about intermittent fasting and how he is losing weight from it. I argue it’s because he is on a caloric deficits without knowing. He said calories in and calories out is not the only way to lose weight. Smh

    • @guibox3
      @guibox3 3 роки тому +2

      Because hormones determine what your body does with those calories. That you need to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight is not disputed. . However if you think on a day to day basis you can control what your body uses, burns or stores simply by the calories you ingest, you don't understand physiology. If all our bodies were were just balance scales, we wouldn't have people yo-yo dieting, plateauing and completely stalling. People don't seem to understand or want to accept that hormones like insulin, cortisol, ghrelin, leptin and dozens of others will regulate the burning, storing and overall consumption of those calories.

    doesn't that contradict the study detailed before that? where they gave 150g of fructose or sugar and they didn't get fat?

      I second that, plus I don't know what you mean by the fructose group consuming less food because they were less hungry but still being calorie equivalent to the control group....you're implying that they ate more calorie dense food such as fats along with 150g of added fructose??
