Many are fond of saying there are no dramatic tenors in our generation. THIS is a dramatic tenor, this is the largest tenor voice in the world (according to a first hand account of tenors who have had to sing with him in this opera) We have Galouzine, and he is everything a dramatic tenor is. Controversial, inconsistant, volcanic, intense, ect...
this is a true helden tenor. and yes he is amazing. beautiful rich dark tone and he can really dominate the high notes. this is one of the largest recorded voices in history i believe. sherill milnes has quite a horn aswell but he is a baritone.
He's screaming a straight toned high C sharp at 0:07. Lots of acting skills and full chiaro scuro. What a dramatic tenor/heldentenor role. That's a great Otello.
Questa è un'ottima interpretazione! non si sentiva dai tempi di ............ il declamato disperato iniziale è un po piatto, ma non si può chiedere di più. Forze è il miglior otello degli ultimi anni. Saluti
i would love to hear him sing dramatic baritone roles (he even has the baritone sideways-mouth!!). however, nothin beats his nessun dorma also posted on youtube (might not be any more). his voice is enormous. awesome.
very true the things you say about Galouzine. This is indeed a true dramatic tenor voice. There are parts of this aria that are thrilling, such as "l'anima aqueta". However, he's hoarse, not surprising after singing that screamed C at the end of the duet.
¡¡¡POR FIN UN TENOR, DE LOS DE HOY, QUE HAGA EL OTTELO EN EL TO- NO Y LA VERDADERA TESSITURA DRAMATICA, COMO DEVE SER!!! Y NO EN UNA TESSITURA INVENTADA COMO LA DE ALGUNOS. ¡¡¡MAGNIFICO!!!
@omarihardy I absolutely don't agree. He sounds very fatigued here, probably has given too much of himself or is just not feeling well. (Del Monaco also had his off days, many of them!) There's a much better concertante version of this aria by Galouzine here on UA-cam: watch?v=5oFVPMxcAz8 . There you hear the real maestro! [Yeah, i'm such a big fan!]
eh i believe milnes is a baritone with good high notes im pretty sure he thought so too as all he is classified as a baritone and only sang baritone roles that i know of.
In Italy had baritone name of Giuseppe Valdengo... When his youger time he been like tenor and became baritone in history one singer sung both role Otello and Iago... I think This tenor only can do this and plz poeple who didn't be his concert dont tell nothing... beside G Giacomini nobody can't sing like him I been both concert...
Maestro Verdi said opera is MUSIC DRAMA... Why until we remember Del Monaco he was great singer and great ACTOR and why until we crazy about maria callas plz people u must understand who didn't be Vladimirs concert one more tmie PLZ u do not have to talk... our mic can't get nothing from his voice....
The range of the aria is so low for a tenor that for more volume he is doing more stable tone. But please don't confuse straight tone as in choral singing or some wrong barroc "specialists". It is proved that straight tone damage the voice.
Don't like his interpretation at all, too Russian. and why he hoarsy all the time? reminds me of Vickers. The voice is very rich and beautiful but I got no thrills ever his high notes, they don't sound tenorish to me. To my view he's is just very hard working baritone.
***** Now, aren't funny...I'm a Lady Gaga fan and i didnt quite like this either. Well not enough to put a dislike, because it's still plenty impressive
What the Hell, I could have done better than this, And i am not even a pro singer.... This just makes me Angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please take this mess off. And Othello is a Moore, why not Make up?????? I think that this is an insult to Shakespeare, and Verdi... And you must all know that I never write Comments like this But this clip really pist me off. THIS IS NOT OTHELLO!!!!!!!
A big sound and wonderful vocal talent!!! He si still one of the leading dramatic tenors of our times. Bravooo!!!!
John Schofield questo tenore fa schifo
Great dramatic tenor and artist!

bigus True Milnes is a high baritone
bigus Galouzine is a true heldentenor but he did not sing any Wagnerian rep but will be ad he adds Siegmund and Siegfried to his repertoire

DAMN!

Io lo trovo orribile, gli ultimi Otello degni di nota sono stati Atlantov e Giacomini.

The singer you are speaking about is Ramon Vinay, not Giuseppe Valdengo. Giuseppe Valdengo has always sung baritone roles.
It would be more impressive if he was done that during one play😜🤣
Music is 100%20 or 21 or 22nd century..
Milnes is a tenor.. Galouzine knew how to pass over the passaggio... or was thought in the good way... or both. May be Milnes not.

I am not a fan of the straight tone. I suppose to an extend he's doing it for effect... but I don't like the effect.
Io lo trovo anti musicale. Non basta la voce. Dizione, fraseggio, interpretazione?
Don't like his interpretation at all, too Russian.

Vickers was nothing like this screamer
Like liric baritone trying sing dramatic tenor))
