This game is so good, and it's one of those games that made me just sit there after finishing it and think about how much I liked every moment of it. I was getting a bit bored on the second playthrough, but I wanted to see more and learn about A2, and im glad I kept going cause it was worth it. Also, the soundtrack is going to be stuck in my head for a while. Definitely going for platinum 😌

Just started this game on ps5 / I’m a much older gamer and don’t get into games as easily as I did when younger..with limited time and additional responsibilities a game has got to be good to get my hour of time at night…I am loving this game, so unique, so fluid, and the ASSet in my face keeps my eyes glued to the screen sometimes missing the unique surrounding and receiving the occasional camera swat to say hey dummy pay attention 😂 really enjoying this game
same for me. i enjoyed this game probably more than any game since Paper Mario when i was like 8 years old. the ASSet asspect sorta put me off from trying this game because it made it look a bit cheesy to me. but so glad i did.
@@gamingodyssey4328 I've put 100+ hours into this and I can tell you that it's a you problem. Haven't had a single crash at all. Maybe check your hardware for any faults?
@@gamingodyssey4328hey my man, I had serious crash issues as well playing on PS5. I tracked it back to HUD stuff causing the issue. Disabled mini map and some of the other HUD items and haven’t had an issue since.

I just purchased this game and started playing. I looked up and two hours had passed. This was a great buy wish I knew about it earlier. This game is awesome.
I normally don't comment on videos, but this is a very detailed and well-made video. I haven't done all the endings yet, I have like ending D and ending E left to do, but after that I should be done I am missing achievements that do require a lot of grinding, but I am mostly done with this game after this I might give replicant a shot who knows. Keep up the great work, making videos like this is a lot of work
I feel like Nier is even more relevant now with the rise of AI. I think a lot of philosophical discussions you can have in Nier can also be applied IRL, especially now. Also with the recent AAA flops, this game is such a nice reminder that we don't need gigantic open worlds and cutting edge graphics to have a life-changing experience in a game.
Finally got around to playing this and i absolutely love it. Im a huge fan of shmups/bullet hell and this game incorporates it so well. The camera work is stunning with how smooth it is and how it alters gameplay. Amazing game so far.
I've played it in 2017, again in 2019, and again in 2021. A roller coaster emotional ride everytime. Hopefully I get free time again by this year to replay it one more time
I bought this game cause of this review. So far, I really like it, and I LOVE THE SOUNDTRACK SO MUCH. I kinda wish the amusement park had more quests just cause of the song, but i dont think im halfway in the game, so maybe they'll be more side quests. Also, WOW, last time i saw ur Channel, u were at like 300 subs. Congratulations.

nier automata was one of my favourite games on the ps4 and was the first game that i tried going for multiple endings since the story was that intriguing it's a shame it barely goes on sale on pc since i've made the switch but you've given me the itch to replay it

Yes yes yes. I got it few months ago. Never gave it a chance because I didn't like the enemies but platinum games can make an awesome fight with a bar of soap as an enemy. We who played it recently can testify (fresh in memory) that Stella Blade is not comparable to the combat you will enjoy here.
Man, I'm at a point where I would watch anything DrakenNieR related lol, like the 7hrs and 6hrs video lore (iykyk). This is also a good NieR: Automata breakdown! Just a few points, I actually don't think that Operator 21O and 9S have feelings for eachother, if they do it's more familial. Because when they were talking about what a family is 21O kind of implied that she considers 9S as her family. Throughout route B, 21O also berates 9S like a big sister does. Like how he should mind his manners and that he's not a combat type so he should avoid it as much as possible. 9S also keeps saying that she treats him like a kid. She's more of mother or sister to 9S. Also the machine network didn't help create YoRHa. YoRHa is designed by this android dude named Zinnia who planned to perpetuate the lie of humanity being on the moon to give the fighting androids some morale. He also created the prototypes for the YoRHa units and the most notable are number 2 and number 9 (they aren't 2B and 9S, they're not related but they're probably the base design). Number 9 finds out the truth about YoRHA faking the truth about there being humans on the moon and that their black boxes are made out of machine cores. He was so angry and disgusted (about the machine core thing, he's chill with motivating the androids by placing a false humanity on the moon) that he killed everyone. Number 2 killed number 9 to stop his killing spree but number 9 already finished project YoRHa and he was even the one who placed the backdoor on the bunker to let in the machine network. YoRHa was always meant to fail so another batch of newer and better androids could be made from the intel collected by the YoRHa units.
18:20 Yeah, difficulty of the game is tied to how well you manage your chip system and unfortunately for normal held by the hand players out there, the chip system ain't gonna hold anyone's hands. The chip system can easily either make or break the game, specially in the harder difficulties because enemies are already beefier but you don't have access to most of the chips.
This game is defiantly one of my favorite games of all time. Everything about it makes it so fun to come back to and replay. And although I loved playing Nier on PS3, Automata will always feel like a great improvement to it. It's funny to think that Gestalt was an XBox 360 exclusive in japan and Replicant was a PS3 exclusive, but they decided to only localize Gestalt for the West on both 360 and PS3 because they thought the US audience would better connect with a father saving his daughter, than a brother saving his sister.
YESSS. Im just a sweaty COD guy who used to play single player games and would mainly play COD/WZ the last 4 years and i can say taking a step back and playing this game was a much needed break. So much fun 🤩

Nah not true; theres many .. many pieces that have similar melodies as FF; plus if you look in the credits; square enix has a huge role in shaping what should be in game as well as simply funding the game itself of course
Absolutely still worth it. The way the plots unfold in nier automata and replicant/gestalt is just so unique to me and I respect those that don’t see the replaying as their cup of tea or just may not be interested but for those seeing this in 2024 and think they may like this game please just try it. If not both at least play automata (as much as I love the first nier I can admit that automata is more accessible to newcomers. Also maybe I’m wrong here but I can’t can’t think of any other games that mix various gameplay styles from various genres like the nier games do or at least not “as” varies as they do. What I would really like to see though and you mentioned this in you video is definitely Drakengard to come back I didn’t play them much years ago (I knew of the ip and played a bit of 1 (think I beat it but it was years ago can’t be sure lol) and 3 but it was so buggy I couldn’t stick with it. So id love to have another chance at those game.
I have a tick when it comes to Loadouts. I remove or reset everything and then choose from scratch what build i'm going for. I didn't read the tooltip for "OS-Chip". Because smart me thaught to himself "I am techsavy, i know what a OS-Chip is" and removed it...Well... that's how i found one of the many endings.
Thanks for covering this one, your reviews are always thorough and entertaining no matter what the series is! This game has the honor of being one of the only 2 games that have ever made me cry. Everything was just so well done and the presentation of it all was nearly perfect I definitely don't have much to say about this one, everything speaks for itself. The game is popular for a good reason. This game is always worth the play Yoko Taro reminds me a little bit of Kojima with how in-depth and layered he can get with his stories/themes. I hope the popularity of this game leads to more Drakengard remakes in the future! (The copious amounts of 2B Cameos in every game better be paying for something.)

First off, absolutely amazing video and review, very well done! I apprecaited all of your points. Like many have already said, I am an "older gamer" now so am much more stingy of my gaming time So after Stellar Blade I went looking for a similar game and Nier is definitely filling that niche. I am in playthrough B which does seem to be a slog, but the game is overall superior and worth the time. In my opinion, Nier is just one of those games that every "real gamer", whatever that is, needs to have experienced. These types of games form the backbone and history of the gaming culture. Keep up the good work.
I played it in June/July 2024, the game still seems new to me, the story is engaging, on average I'm not really crazy about video game stories but I have to say that this title really involved me emotionally for the first time, I felt intrigued by a game that I had to play it for hours and hours just to understand how the story went, even today I'm still intrigued by the story and the characters with whom the game makes you develop a bond.. this game really makes me think and ask myself, what is humanity for? why do we exist? what purpose do we have? does all this have a meaning?.. this game changed me
I bought this game, and only played the first hour or so and left it, I can't remember why. I came back to it 4 years later, in 2021, after hearing a review that it was the most amazing game you will never play. I got back into it, and played all day every day until I finished it in its entirety. I am SO glad I came back to it. It is one of if not THE greatest games I have ever played.
Might run back to this, I think I recall this came out around when Persona 5 came out and I think that stole my attention at the time but I’ve always wanted to dive deep into this game, started stellar blade and it made me think of this game, great video :)

This is my favorite game of all time. Go out and buy it right now. The 2nd half of this game which is ending c/d is the best experience ive ever had in a video game. This game is gutwrenching
I feel I love the characters and the various robot societies. Along with the music and narrative tone. The story has some nice science fiction and philosophical elements - although I will say that getting through the main 3 endings, philosophically for me it wasn’t as “mind blowing” as many said. I think this may come in that I came to it as an older gamer, and had been exposed to basic philosophy during my educational years and it’s fairly 101 course philosophy. However, I am glad it intros these thinking concepts in an intelligent story to people who may have not had that opportunity. My main issue was the gameplay itself. I enjoyed the third person action sequences - but actively disliked them constantly shifting to bullet hell topdown levels, sidescroll platformers etc. I buy a third person action game specifically because I like that gameplay, so the designer is rolling the dice on if these totally different forced participation ’game modes’ are fun or a slog. Also, the environment design was a bit monotone and had a lot of invisible walls, windows etc. not well camouflaged giving it a “set-like” feel. Paired with the non-voiced npcs. It was unfortunately a game if I were to do again I would more enjoy “watching” than playing.
Really wish Route B had an option to fast track or skip through unnecessary and repetitive parts. Tried twice to play through the game and gave up on Route B every time. Maybe this will video will inspire me to play through to the end because the story looks compelling and Route C, D and E look really worth it
Honestly story 3 with A2 and 9S sucked for me. Really felt like someone else wrote that story and didn't give two shits. The plot was dumb as hell, it was short, It forced me to play as 9S for a lot of the time, the bosses were easy as hell and the endings were awful. Glad I only had to get 3 endings and 2 of them were together. Only benefit is the cool flight suit for 2B. Don't all vending machines have replacable bodies inside them like a respawn point? Why wasnt 2B respawned there? Why do androids sometimes bleed and sometimes not? Why am I supposed to care about robots who view death as below them? There's so many things wrong with this story. I love this game, the setting, combat, soundtrack and sometimes characters are great. My only advice is to skip through the story as fast as possible. Its awful.
Great game. Great video. Almost didn't reach ending E due to the really long title sequence which seems to repeat in an unending cycle which fits with the game's ideas closely enough that you think it will never end by design. I did accidentally end up putting 9S in a dress and couldn't work out how to change back. Awkward... I had to think of him as a page boy.
As a person that found NieR series through the anime, YES, I love this game, yes it worth playing in 2024, I played today before I went to work 😂 (Aug 19, 2024)

just started it, and im having sm trouble w the saving system. does it get better once you’re done with prologue? like, does it save your progress before each boss so it wouldn’t start all over from a faraway spot if you die by the boss?

I’m at the beginning of replicant because I heard the gameplay and side content wasn’t as good as automata so I figured start there and save the best for last. I got a few hours into automata years ago but I forgot about most of it. I’ll start with automata then if it makes more sense to.
Yes. This game will be worth playing in 100 years, just as wilde or austen are worth reading, or beethoven and tchaikovsky are worth listening to. It is timeless art

Short answer is yeah. This is one of those games that are so good, you want to forget it just so you could play it again for the first time. For me a good story (Nier's is godlike) can carry an otherwise mediocre gameplay, but Nier is just way too good on that front as well. The combat system, music, world, art style and so many more I can't even remember or put into words. I can't bring myself to replay it because the real ending just made such an amazing close to a great story. I was baited by 2b's ass - stayed for the amazing game (and 2b's ass).
It's on steam weekend deal so I bought it. Been wanting to play it since forever but forgot it for years because I hated the protag Nier's emotion-driven massacre of humanity
@@thechance-lore4711 I initially only bought PS5 for Kingdom Hearts IV when it came out. The other KH games, FF Crisis Core/Intergrade/ReBirth and Stellar Blade got my attention. Maybe Nier Automats will be added to that list. I am hearing so much good things about it.

To clarify...the PS5 added a few awkward camera turns. I'm not talking about the purposeful ones that clearly take over whole rooms. I'm talking about janky corners with lock on problems
Still playing...how do I say this without spoilers...the walk with our robot friend...very dark, couldn't see that last enemy thing and the last room was blind, incredibly tense part. When it finally ended I say what was happening next and went to bed, lol
I think personally the game was a bit ahead of its time, the graphics are beautiful and so is the gameplay. I always replay it because i just CANNOT find anything worth playing these days, its either heavily paywalled or just lazy. NieR automata is everything I wish games were these days.
Hello, I did try the game in 2024 and sorry but I would like to differ. Of all things that are there, there are games which do at least 3 things better than Nier does. The only good part of Nier is its story and that too only if someone hasn't already pondered and came to a conclusion about existence. thanks
Nier actually came out of Pong which came from original monopoly which came from ring around the Rosie which came from the nier before this niers (17th) reincarnation cycle.

Nah not true; theres many .. many pieces that have similar melodies as FF; plus if you look in the credits; square enix has a huge role in shaping what should be in game as well as simply funding the game itself of course
Absolutely still worth it. The way the plots unfold in nier automata and replicant/gestalt is just so unique to me and I respect those that don’t see the replaying as their cup of tea or just may not be interested but for those seeing this in 2024 and think they may like this game please just try it. If not both at least play automata (as much as I love the first nier I can admit that automata is more accessible to newcomers.
Also maybe I’m wrong here but I can’t can’t think of any other games that mix various gameplay styles from various genres like the nier games do or at least not “as” varies as they do. What I would really like to see though and you mentioned this in you video is definitely Drakengard to come back I didn’t play them much years ago (I knew of the ip and played a bit of 1 (think I beat it but it was years ago can’t be sure lol) and 3 but it was so buggy I couldn’t stick with it. So id love to have another chance at those game.

I have a tick when it comes to Loadouts. I remove or reset everything and then choose from scratch what build i'm going for. I didn't read the tooltip for "OS-Chip". Because smart me thaught to himself "I am techsavy, i know what a OS-Chip is" and removed it...Well... that's how i found one of the many endings.
I recommend *every* single person who has access to playing this game.. do it. Play it. All the way through.

Yoko Taro reminds me a little bit of Kojima with how in-depth and layered he can get with his stories/themes. I hope the popularity of this game leads to more Drakengard remakes in the future! (The copious amounts of 2B Cameos in every game better be paying for something.)

First off, absolutely amazing video and review, very well done! I apprecaited all of your points. Like many have already said, I am an "older gamer" now so am much more stingy of my gaming time So after Stellar Blade I went looking for a similar game and Nier is definitely filling that niche. I am in playthrough B which does seem to be a slog, but the game is overall superior and worth the time.
In my opinion, Nier is just one of those games that every "real gamer", whatever that is, needs to have experienced. These types of games form the backbone and history of the gaming culture.

I played it in June/July 2024, the game still seems new to me, the story is engaging, on average I'm not really crazy about video game stories but I have to say that this title really involved me emotionally for the first time, I felt intrigued by a game that I had to play it for hours and hours just to understand how the story went, even today I'm still intrigued by the story and the characters with whom the game makes you develop a bond.. this game really makes me think and ask myself, what is humanity for? why do we exist? what purpose do we have? does all this have a meaning?.. this game changed me

I bought this game, and only played the first hour or so and left it, I can't remember why. I came back to it 4 years later, in 2021, after hearing a review that it was the most amazing game you will never play. I got back into it, and played all day every day until I finished it in its entirety. I am SO glad I came back to it. It is one of if not THE greatest games I have ever played.

This is my favorite game of all time. Go out and buy it right now. The 2nd half of this game which is ending c/d is the best experience ive ever had in a video game. This game is gutwrenching

I feel I love the characters and the various robot societies. Along with the music and narrative tone. The story has some nice science fiction and philosophical elements - although I will say that getting through the main 3 endings, philosophically for me it wasn’t as “mind blowing” as many said.
I think this may come in that I came to it as an older gamer, and had been exposed to basic philosophy during my educational years and it’s fairly 101 course philosophy. However, I am glad it intros these thinking concepts in an intelligent story to people who may have not had that opportunity.
My main issue was the gameplay itself. I enjoyed the third person action sequences - but actively disliked them constantly shifting to bullet hell topdown levels, sidescroll platformers etc. I buy a third person action game specifically because I like that gameplay, so the designer is rolling the dice on if these totally different forced participation ’game modes’ are fun or a slog.
Also, the environment design was a bit monotone and had a lot of invisible walls, windows etc. not well camouflaged giving it a “set-like” feel. Paired with the non-voiced npcs.
It was unfortunately a game if I were to do again I would more enjoy “watching” than playing.

Really wish Route B had an option to fast track or skip through unnecessary and repetitive parts. Tried twice to play through the game and gave up on Route B every time. Maybe this will video will inspire me to play through to the end because the story looks compelling and Route C, D and E look really worth it
Route C,D, and E are totally worth it!! Route B is is probably the worst but if you make it through that you’re in for a ride!!
Honestly story 3 with A2 and 9S sucked for me. Really felt like someone else wrote that story and didn't give two shits. The plot was dumb as hell, it was short, It forced me to play as 9S for a lot of the time, the bosses were easy as hell and the endings were awful. Glad I only had to get 3 endings and 2 of them were together. Only benefit is the cool flight suit for 2B.
Don't all vending machines have replacable bodies inside them like a respawn point? Why wasnt 2B respawned there? Why do androids sometimes bleed and sometimes not? Why am I supposed to care about robots who view death as below them? There's so many things wrong with this story.
I love this game, the setting, combat, soundtrack and sometimes characters are great. My only advice is to skip through the story as fast as possible. Its awful.

Great game. Great video. Almost didn't reach ending E due to the really long title sequence which seems to repeat in an unending cycle which fits with the game's ideas closely enough that you think it will never end by design. I did accidentally end up putting 9S in a dress and couldn't work out how to change back. Awkward... I had to think of him as a page boy.

I’m at the beginning of replicant because I heard the gameplay and side content wasn’t as good as automata so I figured start there and save the best for last. I got a few hours into automata years ago but I forgot about most of it. I’ll start with automata then if it makes more sense to.

Short answer is yeah. This is one of those games that are so good, you want to forget it just so you could play it again for the first time. For me a good story (Nier's is godlike) can carry an otherwise mediocre gameplay, but Nier is just way too good on that front as well. The combat system, music, world, art style and so many more I can't even remember or put into words.
I can't bring myself to replay it because the real ending just made such an amazing close to a great story.

@@thechance-lore4711 I initially only bought PS5 for Kingdom Hearts IV when it came out. The other KH games, FF Crisis Core/Intergrade/ReBirth and Stellar Blade got my attention. Maybe Nier Automats will be added to that list. I am hearing so much good things about it.

@@thechance-lore4711 ending of 2B playthrough, I think I got up to a bit after the adam and eve alien fight as 9S and the story feels more interesting the 2nd time around, but I hate the bullethell/asteroid hacking sections so don't know if I'll ever get to see A2s story.

Still playing...how do I say this without spoilers...the walk with our robot friend...very dark, couldn't see that last enemy thing and the last room was blind, incredibly tense part. When it finally ended I say what was happening next and went to bed, lol
I think personally the game was a bit ahead of its time, the graphics are beautiful and so is the gameplay. I always replay it because i just CANNOT find anything worth playing these days, its either heavily paywalled or just lazy.
NieR automata is everything I wish games were these days.

I did try the game in 2024 and sorry but I would like to differ. Of all things that are there, there are games which do at least 3 things better than Nier does. The only good part of Nier is its story and that too only if someone hasn't already pondered and came to a conclusion about existence.
