  • I had the "case" (folio) on backwards at first, the case magnets are excellent, the magnets for holding the pen are not unfortunately (hence they added that silly loose flap to secure it). Also accidentally referred to my original A6X as a "Nomad", which is the A6X2.
After this I experimented with the pencil settings more and with a small brush size and the less dense texture. I'm really loving it. It's also very low latency as mentioned, better than the Supernote A6X original and Remarkable 1 which is a bit surprising to me. I can't speak for the Remarkable 2 as I've never used it. You don't have to press that hard either, it's very responsive but the lack of tilt and pressure size response of the pencil was confusing me and I still find slightly disappointing but easily worked around by tweaking the brush settings to a good sharp sketch pencil.
At one point I mention the blacks on the screen being a bit less deep, I picked a bad example because I was looking at a washed out pdf in that moment whereas it's obvious in other content that the contrast is quite good. I also was hitting it with overblown warm lighting that wasn't capturing how good it looks in person.
I may have said the wrong amount of ram on the Go 10.3, the correct spec is 4gb.
The only thing holding the screen back is the textured screen layer, which always makes these devices less crisp though they provide a nice writing feel. That's a slight drawback and I would actually do without the screen texture for more crispness, but I get what they're going for with a device like this and why it would be a necessity. The Kindle DX (2nd gen or graphite) which is at a far lower screen resolution honestly looks slightly crisper because of the whiter background and the lack of textured screen.
At 33 minutes I was joking about returning it because of a minuscule bubble between the screen protector but the way I edited it annoyingly skips me noting the bubble. The device is beautiful and there's no actual defect whatsoever.

I really enjoyed your review, I have being looking for Boox Go 10.3 VS Supernote nomad for a while and could not find anything. Also your video felt really personal which was great IMO.

Thank you for your kind words! I’ve always liked videos like that. I tried to put as much on the table as possible so people can make their own judgement. It’s kind of hard because I wanted to make a casual enough video for people that want the same thing out of the device as me, similar to just a forum post, but it’s not super clear how to frame that on UA-cam given the prevalence of youtube reviewers and the expectation to cover all bases. I can tell when I relistened to it that I come off a bit over-opinionated on a few things that I’m not that fixed on, or even knowledgeable on lol, so I’m glad it’s clear it’s a personal perspective.
The reality is it’s going to take me a minute to get comfortable with the boox interface as it’s still more different than I expected though well worth it long term for the marked step up in functionality/flexibility. I feel you on trying to grasp the size of the nomad so I’m glad I was able to share a decent picture. It’s a tough type of product because there’s no store you can go to and just test and compare. A big frustration I have with the nomad reviews is people who owned the previous iteration A6X overhyping the current version, I feel the functionality is still very similar at the moment thanks to Supernote’s software. Surely more impressive things to come for the newer device, but I can’t explain reviewers freaking out about it so much today even with some excellent moves on hardware and things being faster. The crystal back one is stunning.
I will praise the size of the A6X & Nomad for how nicely it fits beside a laptop. However personally, just as an example and not a real recommendation I would ever make, if I wanted to actually take full study notes I'd likely still prefer the “ancient” remarkable 1 for how unconstrained it feels to have akin to a "full page".
And take this with a grain of salt, if you’re a person like Pixel Leaves the Nomad format might be amazing and strongly preferable for you.

So the writing experience is far greater on the SN for note taking? The boox is if you like writing with a pencil

The best person to listen to about writing feel is Brandon Boswell, look up his review of the Supernote Nomad specifically, he also did an unboxing and first impressions of the Boox Go 10.3 which will be leagues better than my own. The supernote uses a hard ceramic nib which never needs replacing, on a relatively soft screen, the best analogy of the feel is like writing with a pen on a notepad where there would be some give from the pages beneath. The Boox Go 10.3 uses standard felt nibs which wear over time, and the screen feels like a single sheet of paper on a hard surface like a table, so no give but there is a paperlike texture. I believe it's a very similar writing experience to the rM2. I may have caused some confusion where I was saying SN's notebook software is better in my view.
Personal preference is the biggest factor. I sketch a lot in pencil and find SN have done a great job with their pencil tool which is unfortunately currently relegated to their "Atelier" art app, rather than usable in all notebooks. SN's pencil tool is a bit more nuanced than Boox's so I was praising SN for that and wanted to demo it for others who like to sketch rather than a full appraisal of the note experience. I hope that's more clear, this was my first unboxing video lol. I think you will get a lot out of Brandon Boswell's videos, you could also look at his review of the original A6X or A5X.

I've noted in the description some mistakes I noticed after filming the video.

Great video 👏 I just wish the screen would've been whiter thats the only thing keeping me from buying this.

That means a lot! I hope I was able to give it somewhat of a fair shake, the 300dpi screen is great but with a whiter backing it would be more stunning in my view. The textured screen protector I feel does not help either because how the light refracts. It would've been great if it could've drastically outshined its competitors in this regard.
Because the multi-functionality and notebook functionality of these tablets the "paper white" background goal that dominated early ereaders has fallen to the wayside. It would be great if this could be brought back more into the conversation. The leftmost white vertical strip/bezel of the Go 10.3 is a perfect representation of what is actually exactly white in person, so they've included a good reference point on their machine itself lol. I screwed up a bit with a lot of warm overly direct lighting in the video, the blacks look deeper in person, though I think the contrast of the kindle 3 is noticeably better as just a reference point.
And just to be clear, the display is crisp as hell because of the resolution and the back being quite decent, however with the Kindle DXG (the 9.7" screen version of the kindle 3 I showed) I would literally find myself saying "wow" at manga pages I've shown here that on the Go didn't stun me. In the case of the go 10.3 I was thinking wow at the form factor more than anything, and that there is zero legibility issues ever given the ample resolution.
14 minutes into Brandon Boswell's unboxing/impressions video he puts it next to the reMarkable 2 and their screen whiteness is identical, just another good reference point.
