That was the most fantastic detailed, accurate analysis that I have watched. I too, moved to SE Asia, and I have lifted weights for many years, and it's beginning to take its toll. I have noted your symptons and your remedies, and I will follow your advice. I am disappointed that this isn't an overnight fix, but it's a big help to less pain. Thank you!
@akkuverma2328 Yes, I have no foot pain now. I did buy some pads that strap onto your foot when at home. I also rested more, and when exercising at the gym, I would focus on putting most of my body weight onto the other foot when possible. Over a period of time, the pain decreased, and I am now able to continue any activities without worry. 👍
@ajarndave9660 were u able to walk barefoot at that time? Actually m not able to walk barefoot as m having heel pain too ..could u plz tell how long it took u to get completely pain free? 😞 I think m going through chronic phase or was it happened to u as well?
@@akkuverma2328 I think you have much more of a problem if you have heel pain too! I could walk by putting more weight on my heel rather than the sole of my foot where the pain was coming from. It was a while ago now, but I would say after 2-3 months I noticed a big improvement.
I've had metatarsal pain for a couple of months now and I couldn't use any of my shoes. I bought the Crocs LiteRide Clog and use them in the house as slippers. They are not as good as the Skechers Women's Skechers GOwalk Hyper Burst Extreme Outlook Vegan Sneaker. The Skechers are amazing! It's like walking on air and well worth every penny. I've been wearing them for a couple of day now and my foot feels so much better. I hope this helps someone else who is in pain.
I think my heel is tilted forward from my heel cups which I needed for my heel burning fat papules from EDS and hypermobility in my joints ordered the stable version and insoles for the mid foot pain and toes. I have insoles cost me £250!!! From a podiatrist but my heel was burning and hurting afterwards. I m going to try her advice and see what happens.
I ordered crocs as per the video but they were pretty big for my narrow feet. I wear size 6 but that is the smallest size in women, They are well cushioned though. I had to return them unfortunately due to size.
Thank you SO much for posting this. Went to foot dr. Got diagnosed with this. But no explanation, No advice beyond "give it time" and had me get a USELESS orthodic. Your video, explanation, suggestions, etc. were spot on.
I folded thick tissue to 3x2cm rectangle and used Scotch tape to stick it on my soft rubber slipper(below the metarsal head bone like what U said) and I felt immediate relief. So happy ☺️ I have been suffering from the issue for 5 months!
This was a great watch! My metatarsalgia was a result of long periods in climbing shoes. I wear the softest running shoes everywhere now and it's manageable now
Wow! This was perfect. Thank you for being so down to earth and personable. I felt like you not only understand this stuff but you do a great job of explaining it. Thank you!
Another brilliant, helpful video. Timely for me, as I am dealing with another flare-up of this at the moment. I agree that soft cushioning and orthotics are the best treatments. One factor which causes me pain is shoes with insufficient forefoot width. I find any pressure on the side of the ball of foot can aggravate this condition. Thanks again for your helpful videos.
@@stevenswann2835 hi, how's it going now? I hope ur pain has subsided now? Would u like to add some solutions? M also suffering with this horrible pain.
I searched everywhere and every video to accurately describe my foot condition and what I was experiencing. I knew it wasn't as simple as neuropathy. Because my pain was more direct between the toes you described. That for this video it was extremely helpful.
I have psoriasis arthropathy and now I have Metatarsalgia. I wondered if it coud be because of psoriasis athropathy. Now I know :) My doctor said I got a Mortons neuroma, and got it because of tight shoes, but I don't wear tight shoes. It was because I already had pain in the ball of my foot and I walked on really hard slippers in 2 days. After this I couldn't walk on my right foot anymore!! It is metatarsalgia and I have bought metatarsalgia insoles, they helped a lot! This is the best video I have seen about metatarsalgia.
Excellent explanation of my foot problem and fix for "feels like a pebble under my foot". I thought the problem would go away on it's own, if I applied moisturizer to the callus and tried not to put weight on it; but after 4 months it did not go away. I then used metatarsalgia pads on my foot just below the white callus and after 3 months, I was pain free. I put the pad directly on my foot and removed every night before sleeping and washed my foot. Then re-apply the same pad the next morning before putting on my sox. I was able to use one pad for about 5 to 7 days before it was no long sticking to my foot. I also had to cut the pad in half as it was causing arch pain. I highly recommend purchasing MySlippers all season slippers for walking inside your house. These slippers have gell and foam cushsion in the soles; and are the softest slippers I have ever used and they are less than half the price of others.
I literally experienced this for the first time yesterday. I found my 20 year old crocs as I was watching the video and I will make a appointment with the podiatrist tomorrow. Thank you so much.
I've got this between my 2nd and 3rd toes. It doesn't hurt, but feels uncomfortable, like my socks are bunched up, even without socks on. I think I have the early stages from what I've been seeing and reading. Thanks for the thorough explanation of what it is and how to treat it. Good luck with your injury recovery.
This is closer to my own symptoms! For me it's between the 3rd & 4th toes, and I describe it as feeling "smushed." Have you found a treatment that helps?
@@YogiBethC My podiatrist diagnosed me with Morton's Neuroma. It seems very similar to metarsalgia. Maybe same thing with a different name. He said primary cause was wearing tight shoes, which are tight in the ball of foot section and doing activities using the ball of the foot a lot. Also common in women wearing high heels. His recommendation was simply to get extra wide shoes so your toes can splay out fully when on the balls of foot. Cut back on activities, and ice after activity. I also found that zero drop shoes also help since these shoes have the wider toe box area and there is no heel elevation, so more of the weight is distributed evenly. Also zero drop shoes, although not as cushiony as regular shoes, promote your feet to get stronger over time. If you get zero drop shoes, break your feet into them slowly. It changes your gait completely and your body needs time to adjust. Wearing wide sandals also works. I also started doing feet exercises. In bare feet and sitting, splay your toes out as much as you can and hold it for about 5 seconds. Then curl your toes as much as you can and hold for 5 seconds. Do this for 8 to 10 reps. After I do these exercises, my feet feel energized. Hope this helps. Good luck.
@@fisherchi Thanks so much for this response! I have not yet been to the podiatrist and probably need to go. I do find that tighter shoes are an issue for me, but sometimes even loose-fitting slippers can bother my toes. I will try to work in the toe exercises and take some of your other suggestions as well; thank you again.
After being diagnosed with artritis in the ball of one foot. I had this treatment. A small half an egg shaped foam attachment was stuck to my insoles. Yes it lifts the painful area away from painful contact with the ground (even through trainers). I found a podcast years ago, of a health radio channel i can't recall the name sadly. Then i heard my condition described! The half egg insert, was said to aggravate the condition over time. Wonder result. He identified the issue as an over mobile big toe, causing inflammation. Cut rectangles out of store bought shoe insoles, about 1"x2-3" in size, and place them in your shoes at the bend where your big toe joins the foot. Add an extra layer(s) if ball of the foot is still uncomfortable. I did that and taped them inplace with medical fabric tape. What joy!!!! Pain vanished!! I tried walking with them taped directly on my foot in my hard wood floor. A miracle!!!! No pain. I proceed to put that rectangle of insole into all my footwear! :) A little while later i went on a 3 day water and lemon only fast plus MSM powder. I nolonger need the insoles now over a decade later. That's my journey. I hope this helps someone.
Thanks for sharing details. I've been searching for relief on both feet for these symptoms during walking and hiking, now over three years. My foot pain coincided with improved overall strength, mobility and balance (I retired and found time to exercise more). I don't believe the metatarsal pads have helped much (custom orthotics) and, ironically, the orthopedic advisory stretches were already in my exercise regime. She also advised larger metatarsal pads. Now I wonder if they are deterring rather than aiding improvement. I'd like to learn more about alternative insole adjustment like yours.
@AngelaYah Do you have a video or a picture on how the cut insoles are made and where exactly you placed them? I too have done the fasting. If you can get past the first 2 days it gets alot easier. Since January I have completed a 5 day fast twice. Now if I can get rid of this foot pain all would be great.
@@franklidgad The custom fit orthotics and metatarsal pads did not help for the long term. I found that Dr. Scholls CF330 inserts (heel pad + arch support) work well in all my shoes and hiking boots. I was also advised to stretch my calve and Achilles tendon. That focus during my daily exercise has helped to remove most discomfort. I'm back to good duration without pain while hiking, biking and chasing my 4 year old grandson.
Same. I have visited a couple of physical therapists that just told me to watch videos online so I could do self treatment. They didn't give specific advise on what to watch or search. They literally just charged me 💰 just to tell me to browse UA-cam and guess. 🙄
Thank you. Things that contributed to my right foot metatarsal pain: New home with all tile, walking in work shoes, ignoring the symptoms and pushing through. Not realizing the extent of the injury or the time it will take to recover. Now I can make a long term plan and see a podiatrists. Be well!
Thank you this was so helpful. cushioned shoes with a zero drop heel and front rocker design, like oofos sandals were the only shoes that gave immediate relief & eliminated pressure & pain in the metatarsal area. I think was improperly diagnosed with Morton’s neuroma instead of metarsalgia. Went to both a podiatrist & orthopedic surgeon, the latter gave me a very painful cortizone shot after 3 months suffering with pain. (I would not recommend that as I later read it doesn’t help solve the problem & I was in more pain than before the shot.) Neither doctor tested for metarsalgia. Oofos sandals are the only shoe I could wear and even beach walk for several miles and slowly started improving with cushioned hiking shoes, Hoka one one brand. But was still hurting so that’s when I went to the podiatrist who is making custom orthotics with metatarsal pads.
This is the must helpful metatarsalgia video I’ve found. I can’t walk at all without pain and I’ve watched several videos but this one gave me the understanding and plan for healing like no other option did. Thank you!
For once someone describes exactly the pain i endure. Your help is greatly appreciated. Right now i just took pain killers, laying in bed middle day because the pain is halfway up my legs. So many professionals, so many orthopedic sole, so many different shoes. You explain the pain so well, and touching exact areas under your foot shows you know exactly the pain. Thank you for your help. :)
@@akkuverma2328 ya, actually right after this period I ordered and started wearing metatarsal domes in my shoes. Been virtually pain free for months. Pro tip: if you're going to be away from home for a while (work, vacation, etc) bring a second pair of soles for each pair of shows, you don't want to walk on those for a long time in the beginning.
@@Jrb8k3n thanks for giving some hope...m having a tough time as m having heel pain too .what else did u do and how long it took u to get almost pain free or some relief even? And are u now able to walk barefoot if needed? Thanks for replying
Best explanation I have gotten so far. I have started wearing Oofos crocs in the house (hard wood floor) and that has helped a ton. The podiatrist put some off loading pads on my orthotics as well. Good to know that it will eventually get better.
OMG you ssid exactly what I been feeling. My second toe feels like it feel to sleep and I get that electrical shock feeling. I have this on my left foot and I'm like 😩😩😩👣
Thank you for sharing this info. I didn’t know what this new pain in my left foot under toes region meant. Having to wear the dreaded foot brace all day long now.
I just want to say I bought those same shoes two yrs ago because she recommended them. Still wearing them today! I needed them so badly because I have hard floors.
This is so helpful. I left the podiatrist today getting the diagnosis of metatarsalgia caused by a fractured toe a few months ago. I was scared thinking I could never get in heels again - this explanation gives me hope. Now to be patient…
@ it’s getting better now that I realize I just have to really baby my feet and I got some orthotics, but they just kind of hurt my instep, but they do help somewhat. Take the pressure off the pain in the balls of my feet. At my current rate, I think it’ll still be several months before the issues resolved. I was sure hoping it would go faster. Any other tips to heal quicker? Oh, by the way I found that swimmingand then putting my feet on the Jets and the Jacuzzi sure feels good
@@timwrightfamily740 it's gives u some hope when u see a positive answer from others? I hope to get better soon,as it's taking toll over my mental peace🥺.have u used gel insoles and were u able to walk barefoot at that time???
Best video I've seen on this so far! My pain seems to be sporadic, I'll get a flare up, it's horrendous for a few days, sometimes foot swells and can't even get a shoe on then it settles for a while again and I'm fine. I'm terrible for walking barefoot though which really came across in this video, I work from home so spend most days barefoot unless I'm going to a meeting or the pub!! I never wear trainers (I have just bought some though) and my favourite shoes are usually brogues or boots.... Your video has made so much sense of it. One of the worst things is, when it's bad and the swelling starts, the doctors just blamed it on gout!! Thankfully I refused daily medication for that!
I've been wearing orthotics for more than 20 years, (6 pairs) I recently developed awful pain in my foot. I think I will try a new pair. Thanks for the precise placement of the metatarsal gel pad. I had placed it over the metatarsal head area. Much better now. THANK YOU
Thank you so much! I have had the same issue for more than a year. I just saw a new doctor and will be getting new orthotics + dancer's pads BUT your personal experience has vastly improved my understanding and my hopefulness. I, too, have very lax ligaments. Thank you so much for posting this! Wish you were local here in Florida (no more 4 mile barefoot beach walks for me).
@@versatile0276 I wrote a long reply and UA-cam bumpted to the next video and erased it. Yes, via custom orthotics in wide toe box sneakers and OOFOS thongs. I also do tai chi. I have other issues that caused this and they are progressing but at least I can walk pretty much without pain.
Thank you for this. I was a dancer and I also kept dancing and hiking thinking it wasn’t a big deal than I couldn’t even walk. I spent 8 weeks on KNEE pads in my apartment then now I still can’t walk very far and have to wear gel orthotics in my socks at home or runners and it’s been 4 months. This gave me hope that maybe it’ll heal eventually. My heels also hurt and my other foot started to take a hit to offset. I’ve been biking and such and stretching and waiting on a diagnosis…. But thank you
I’ve had such a hard time with ankle and foot pain, specifically my left foot. Numerous injuries-torn ligaments, stress fractures, ruptured plantar fascia, and the pain is unending.
Thank you. This is the first serious video I have watched on the subject. It is very useful for me. I hope to solve the problem. A couple of years ago I also watched your video on the subject of the meniscus, which also helped me a lot, I solved the problem without surgery. It took about six months. Thanks again!
Thanks a lot for this video. I am a die-hard runner, so having this injury has been annoying. I was rigorous in my training and I think overuse caused this injury. I started applying the RICE method and it seemed to improve towards the last week, then I spent a whole day in a garage barefooted and it has gotten worst than when it even started! I am on over 2 months now, only started orthopedics a week ago.
I used barefoot shoes and played tennis for several hours. I developed this condition after that and it's been months. Great video, my doctor didn't help except telling me to get orthotics. The orthotics specifically for this condition are good
Thanks again for extensively sharing. To uplift the metatarsal bones, I use a folded sponge you can buy at most any supermarket. I kind of like hold m at the right spot putting on a sock. It never even shifted on long runs. In my case it seems to make a difference, when I put down the ball of the big toe a little extra at 'touch down' in favour of those of the other toes. The hard thing to do there is too keep the big toe itself supple walking, taking the foot of the ground Good day.
@@surfsiren1026 Yes, just behind the ball of the toes, helping your arches and metat. a bit When its thick enough you can feel it: Less pain. It doesn't need to fill the whole arch, just a smalll area (an inch maybe more?). I used hands and scissors to get rid of the scrub layer of the sponge. I cannot use it for cleaning pans no longer. You hold the sponge in place while handling the sock around. I used it in 'barefoot' and other types of shoes. No shifting of the sponge.
There is a video about this principle of pain relief by "Frugal Foot". You're helping your bones to 'roll over'. He explains and shows very clearly. It is about "how to make your own metatarsal pad". He uses an inlay sole to attach the pad on.
First of all i would love to say am really soooo lucky finally i found a great explaining what i feel reality am suffering since 10 years of heating like a fire under my both feet. Thank you soooooooo much for amazing advices ❤❤❤
Thank you, I have this issue too. My podiatrist put me in hard orthotics. I tried to stick with it and ended up torquing my Achilles on the other foot. Nice to hear the advice. Even better to hear your yearning to be active at various levels - across the tile, short walk, some running. A lot of people don't get it. If you've been a runner or hiker, the yearning is very strong.
Orthotics are terrible for you if they are over the counter. DON'T wear a met pad under one foot or orthotics that lift your arch. This almost caused a stress fracture in my good foot because of all the compensating! Just tape your toe and get some comfortable shoes like Hoka's and try to transfer a little bit of weight to BOTH your heels.
Thank you so so much! That was extremely helpful as I am going through the exact same situation and felt absolutely helpless. To be able to understand what’s going on and how to help improve it is very relieving. Much appreciated
Wow! What an awesome and thoughtful video. It is worth a lot of money as I could never get that amount of time with foot specialist. Thank you for the video.
Thanks a lot for the video. I cycled a lot without any issues on my foot. So i was wondering what could have caused my foot pain from walking when i woke up in the morning. After watching your video, it made me realised that walking my dog at night in my new birkenstock could be the reason. 🙏
Thanks a bunch!😀 Diabetic- 3rd toe broken years Ago and worked outside for 3 days straight and this new home has nothing but pretty hardwood floors ...I think a major part of my pain. I wear crocs but they make my feet sweat and now I found some slip on sketchers (not as thick as the croc) but helps a lot. I think I will get some inserts also!
Hi could you please say where to buy the Soft Crocs and does this model have a specific name when ordering them. Thank you for your reply as I have the same problem with pain in my feet like you. Patricia
Excellent description! I went through exactly similar symptom development in spite of (or maybe caused by) an improvement in my strength, mobility and balance. Increasing shoe size (width + length), adding orthotics and also carbon fiber insoles helped me get back to hiking and cycling (I'm not a runner). However, I still struggle with intermittent pain after three years from onset. I really appreciated your points about "recent activity" to explain present tense pain. I heard the same surgical regime regarding Achilles tendon lengthening, vey scary proposition...
Thanks for sharing - it really helps people to see that it can get better. Like you, I also find that mine sometimes want to raise its head but because I now know what it is it usually calms down within a day or two of me just pampering it and then I'm good to go again. I find its tolerance and endurance is still improving after a couple of years.
I have a habit of being barefoot around the house on hard floors, this flare up is miserable, thank you for the wonderful information, I have gout once in a while and believe this helped trigger this event as well
I started to develop this. I switched to flat very wide shoes and seeing improvement. The big heeled cushy athletic shoes make my feet worse. I think the problem is most shoes are too tapered in the toe and the big cushy heels force all the pressure onto the front of the foot.
Brilliant and very informative video, thanks so much, just started to get pain in my right foot and started to research it, come to the conclusion it was probably the last two pairs of shoes I’ve had so back to proper trainers for me 👍🏻
Well done, lots of good advice also applies to plantar plate injuries, but wonder if stretching toe extensor tendons and Achilles' tendons, strengthening foot intrinsic muscles would be additive?
Thank you for this great video. My job calls for me to be on my feet all day walking. I am so glad I came across your video. I am going to use your suggestions and they make so much sense. I have been trying everything for my pain and to no avail. Thank you so much!!!
Wearing a shoe two sizes too big with a slight heal caused my metatarsal pain. Feels like I'm walking on marbles. It started with the feeling of socks bunched under my front foot pad. I'm hoping to have this same results from this video.
Thank you so much for your vital information. I couldn't have done better without your help. I just recently started developing metatarsal pain on my right foot and have been painfully eversense. I miss my farmer's walking and lifting weights for lower body. Again thank you for sharing .❤️🙏
wow- thanks for the video. I've learned so much since developing metatarsalgia, as well as a hammer toe of the 2nd toe. This happened after a trip to the UK to visit my daughter, while wearing BIRKENSTOCKS during long walks outside and in airport.
THANK YOU!!!! I am a highly active person and have dealt with this for over 5 years now, I also grew up in the country and rarely ever went to the doctor, we were always taught to tough it out. When you finally described it as feeling like a pebble in your shoe around the ball of your foot I knew we were on the same page. Update: I found some hard "domes" and after only 8 hrs I can't explain the relief!!! If you have this issue please please listen to her and take the steps suggested!! Can't thank you enough. I've been walking/running 5-7 miles a day on this for over 5 years and trying to "tough it out", finally having relief would have been worth thousands to me, it cost $15.
Finally found the reasons for mine pains and how to heal my feet. That's exactly how I reacted. I limited my walking and got soft shoes. It improved a little in the first week. I was uncomfortable because I had no idea what kind of recovery I could expect and how long it would take. I urgently need to add a gel insert and foam sandals. Thank you for all!
Well, I'm officially at a loss now. I'm 7 weeks out from the onset. I've done EVERYTHING you can think of. Threw the kitchen sink at it from day one. Rest, ice, compression, anti inflammatory creams, CBD, $60 orthotics which just made my other foot hurt, I can't do cortisone due to a long history of tendonitis. Went to the foot doctor. X-Rays were normal. Ultrasound showed some mild swelling under the 2nd and 3rd metatarsals. I had it in the big toe as well, though that one cleared up. These tests were done at 1 week. At about 5 weeks, I had an MRI done. The MRI was unremarkable, so there is now officially no explanation for this pain. I guess in the absence of inflammation, it's done all the healing it's going to and healed poorly with scar tissue and calcifications. I've done 3 sessions of shockwave therapy. Zero improvement, in fact feel worse from it. Still feel like I'm stepping on not one, but a collection of pebbles under toes 2-3-4. I'm almost at 2 months and at my wits end. I'm so tired of the money pit of conservative care that doesn't work even 1%. I wish doctors would just give you a general time frame of say 3-6 months, then come back for surgery if it's not gone instead of making us a hamster on a wheel with a dozen suggestions that do nothing. Our bodies just haven't evolved to repair collagen the same way we repair muscle and bone. This is evidenced by the hundreds of people in the comments of every video saying "did you heal? I'm 6-12 months out and not healing", people begging for answers from strangers they're not getting from their doctor. I'm actually starting to have feelings of strong dislike for my body for its inability to do its job. Maybe 2 months is too early to give up hope but I'm tired.
I also went through the same thoughts and feelings as you - it really feels at the start that it will never get better but it does eventually. I discuss my slow progress over several months in this video: ua-cam.com/video/4doMWWTGxmg/v-deo.html
Thank you very much for your reply. If mine has not gone away in another month, I’m going to do the Tenex procedure. My doctor said it’s not severe enough for open surgery, but there is enough scar tissue on ultrasound to do Tenex. He says only 2 weeks in a boot before I’m back to physical therapy. Really looking forward to that but maybe it’ll burn out before then.
@@crispycruiser4654 I know what you mean, going from one doctor to the next and getting no real relief. It does seem like the doctors only care about getting their money. I wonder if you could answer a question for me? Do the balls of your feet also feel like they are on fire, when walking? Burning to the point that you can't walk any further? This is the stage my feet are in now. They also are swollen, and a bit red. Just the balls of the feet and going up to the bottom of toes. Worse on very hard surfaces and flat shoes. I haven't heard the pain described as burning. After reading all you've been through, I thought I'd ask you. I'd appreciate it. I really hope, by now, that you've gotten some relief from your pain. It's so difficult to deal with. Good luck to you. ❤
@@LDiamondz Hi. My feet do not burn like you describe and there is no discoloration. You might have a Morton's Neuroma and/or some underlying peripheral neuropathy, as redness is very common, and burning is a common symptom too. Peripheral neuropathy is a wastebasket term though that doesn't describe the root cause. Are you diabetic? Have you taken any medications that list neuropathy as a side effect? Do you have autoimmune disease that runs in your family? My situation is very different. I stretched the ligaments too far and they didn't heal correctly. It simply feels like rocks when I walk and a dull ache at rest. I've also developed some lovely plantar fascitis as a result of walking on my heels for 3 months. I've had enough of this crap sitting around waiting and doctors selling me magic beans that don't do anything, so I am doing a minimally surgery called Tenex in 2 weeks (July 26 2023). This will get to the root cause by suctioning the actual damaged tissue out of my body. I will update back.
@@crispycruiser4654 Thank you for replying. I've had this kind of pain for quite awhile. No diabetes, no medicines that would cause it, but I do have at least one autoimmune disease that I know of. Many auto immune diseases run in my family. So far, my doctor can find nothing. I'm going to have to see a specialist, as I've also noticed my ankles go a little inward when I walk. Maybe that's part of it. I'm glad to hear you're having the procedure done. It sounds like you've really been run by the wringer. It's difficult doing most things when you can't walk due to so much pain. I really hope the surgery will fix your problem for good. Thank you so much for your reply. Best of luck to you. ❤️
Man I remember the first time ever having this problem when I was 11 years old. I’ve been living life for 16 years now thinking wow I wish I could be like these other people with “normal” feet. I’ve been having callus on the balls of my foot for so long and you explained everything I experience to the T! And it makes so much sense! Thank you thank you thank youuuuu!!!
i have this problem but it gets better when I start walking and sit up, it is worse when am asleep and when am about to get out of but. it feels like am on fire sometimes.
I have a history of metatarsalgia, a recent hammertoe surgery, and high arches. Now it’s Synovitis from my joint replacement. I also walk on nature trails an hour every day, which is vital to my mental health. HOKA Graviota shoes with Soles Insert ( metatarsal lift ) are the only shoes I wear. The wide toe box, stiff stability, and arch support means that I can walk miles without pain. I also have the HOKA Bondi with insert, but it is just not as pain free as the Graviotas.
Thank you so much. That was really interesting . I have this problem and am going to take your advice . I loved your style of delivery and the honesty in your message . Thanks again
Excellent information! I have questions. 1) Will micro-current or use of an Avazzia device help speed healing of this inflammation? 2) Isn’t this area actually the Transverse Arch? Fallen Transverse Arch? I have lax ligaments also. This is mostly caused by adrenal insufficiency/exhaustion. B vitamins can help with this. I’m a Nutritional Therapist and can diagnose and prescribe the natural protocol. Your presentation is excellent and very similar to my problems with my left foot. I’ve also found that when I get my Tallus and Calcaneus bones adjusted, which are subject to falling out of alignment, my metatarsals quit hurting! This misalignment is also now thought to be the true cause of Bunion formations! I can provide the MRI video for this discovery if you’re interested! Thanks very much!! I’m going to go to see your website!
I just got this injury 2 days ago from an overly vigorous race waking session. While I heal do you think using the elliptical would be ok? It doesn’t have the same “rolling through the foot” motion as walking...
I have been suffering the same problem - started with Morton’s Neuroma and has gone on to metatarsal pain. Off loading and soft shoes - orthotics and additional gel metatarsal cushion all help. Thanks for your detailed explanation.
Where did you find your crocs with the inserts? I could not find them. Good advice on SOFT shoes. If I cannot find them, any other suggestions as far as soft wide shoes go?
@@SportsInjuryPhysio Thank you so much. Your video was most helpful! I didn't realize this condition can be caused by shoes that are too wide. Excellent video!
Thank you! I finally know what this is, after dealing with a little plantar fasciitis and reaearching, now finding out there is a specific name for this long-time issue of mine. After walking some distances I sometimes tend to feel that pain in the second metatarsal. At first I actually took my shoe off to shake out the pebble- yikes! Thank the Lord for leading me to this information! I'm really close to getting Hoka shoes, btw. 😃
The gratitude I feel for this video started from the moment you showed us your foot/toe position ; I have that too and bever knew it was a thing. @@ajarndave9660 hi,hows ur foot now? Is it completely healed?
@akkuverma2328 Yes, I have no foot pain now. I did buy some pads that strap onto your foot when at home. I also rested more, and when exercising at the gym, I would focus on putting most of my body weight onto the other foot when possible. Over a period of time, the pain decreased, and I am now able to continue any activities without worry. 👍

@@akkuverma2328 I think you have much more of a problem if you have heel pain too! I could walk by putting more weight on my heel rather than the sole of my foot where the pain was coming from. It was a while ago now, but I would say after 2-3 months I noticed a big improvement.

Brilliant definition of the causes, treatments and overcoming the condition. Many thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Hi,how are u managing both...neuroma and metatarsalgia??
Thank you for sharing!
Hi, what metatarsal pads did you use? Where did you get them?
I literally experienced this for the first time yesterday. I found my 20 year old crocs as I was watching the video and I will make a appointment with the podiatrist tomorrow. Thank you so much.
I've got this between my 2nd and 3rd toes. It doesn't hurt, but feels uncomfortable, like my socks are bunched up, even without socks on. I think I have the early stages from what I've been seeing and reading. Thanks for the thorough explanation of what it is and how to treat it. Good luck with your injury recovery.
Could yours be Morton's neuroma?
@@YogiBethC You're welcome.
A little while later i went on a 3 day water and lemon only fast plus MSM powder.
I nolonger need the insoles now over a decade later. That's my journey. I hope this helps someone.
A rectangle? I couldn't do a 3 day fast but I'll definitely get some pads
@@robertheim352 Did you come up with any answers to insole adjustments for this condition ?
@@franklidgad The custom fit orthotics and metatarsal pads did not help for the long term. I found that Dr. Scholls CF330 inserts (heel pad + arch support) work well in all my shoes and hiking boots.
Did it help with custom orthotics?

To uplift the metatarsal bones, I use a folded sponge you can buy at most any supermarket. I kind of like hold m at the right spot putting on a sock. It never even shifted on long runs.
In my case it seems to make a difference, when I put down the ball of the big toe a little extra at 'touch down' in favour of those of the other toes. The hard thing to do there is too keep the big toe itself supple walking, taking the foot of the ground
Good day.
What kind of sponge? You just fold it and kind if stick it in the upper arch area?
Same here! I’m being even more mindful of planting all of my toes and lifting my arch which has been helping the pressure on the metatarsals.

Orthotics are terrible for you if they are over the counter. DON'T wear a met pad under one foot or orthotics that lift your arch.
Thanks for sharing!
Hey,how u doing now?
You're very welcome!
i have this problem but it gets better when I start walking and sit up, it is worse when am asleep and when am about to get out of but. it feels like am on fire sometimes.
I Feel that when wake up.
Do you fix It?
Hi,any improvements??
I have a history of metatarsalgia, a recent hammertoe surgery, and high arches. Now it’s Synovitis from my joint replacement. I also walk on nature trails an hour every day, which is vital to my mental health.
HOKA Graviota shoes with Soles Insert ( metatarsal lift ) are the only shoes I wear. The wide toe box, stiff stability, and arch support means that I can walk miles without pain. I also have the HOKA Bondi with insert, but it is just not as pain free as the Graviotas.
U r silent to any queries
.plz inform the brand name of crocs u use
Thank you so much. That was really interesting . I have this problem and am going to take your advice . I loved your style of delivery and the honesty in your message . Thanks again
Glad it was helpful!
I think im experiencing this now...going to a pdiatrist next week...this is helpful thanks...,its an annoying thing to have...kinda limit ur activity
I just got this injury 2 days ago from an overly vigorous race waking session. While I heal do you think using the elliptical would be ok? It doesn’t have the same “rolling through the foot” motion as walking...
I bet that is really good for you instead of walking so much. I'll try that as well, the elliptical. Sound advice. Thanks!
I came here to find out if my foot was gonna have to get amputated. I feel so much better now thanks!
You're welcome!
Absolutely excellent! Your presentation will help thousands. Me being one of those. Thank you for posting this video.
I have been suffering the same problem - started with Morton’s Neuroma and has gone on to metatarsal pain. Off loading and soft shoes - orthotics and additional gel metatarsal cushion all help. Thanks for your detailed explanation.
You're welcome!
Great explanation, advice, and proposed solution ! 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for making this video. I have a better understanding now
Where did you find your crocs with the inserts? I could not find them. Good advice on SOFT shoes. If I cannot find them, any other suggestions as far as soft wide shoes go?
It's the Literide Colorblock Clog, and they're available here: geni.us/MbR3
I swear by Hokas + good orthotics
@@SportsInjuryPhysio Hoka Bondi are awesome. Where did you buy your orthotics? Thank you.
The gratitude I feel for this video started from the moment you showed us your foot/toe position ; I have that too and bever knew it was a thing. Subconsciously I felt like my ligaments are on the more flexible side in some areas too. So when the whole rest of your video continued, it was like you made the video personally for me.
Thank you for all the information and tips on how to start healing it as well!! ❤🎉❤🎉❤
Great Analysis! Thank you.
My pleasure!
