Yes please come to TX and buy my house!!!!!!!!😁😁😁
The gas pump is the biggest difference I see. You are right about groceries depending on where in CA but especially if you are on the coast they are so expensive!
I’m originally from CA and left a long time ago and would never go back. Sad really because the land and weather are the best but the gov is horrible!

Hi Dana, love your channel and just moved north of Houston from LA this past summer. I liked the idea of the video, but there is honestly no way to compare houses that way. I graduated from UC Riverside and can tell you that there is NO way even that "nice" part of Riverside is in *any* way comparable to Southlake. The takeaway for people coming from CA, as it relates to houses, is that although TX property taxes are a little over twice as high (as a percentage), an equivalent house in CA (sq/ft and lot size, schools, safety, amenities) is literally about 4 to 5 times higher. We sold our house in LA and bought a MUCH nicer and larger house (far better schools, incredible amenities, much safer, not to mention fantastic neighbors, etc) for half the price of the CA house we sold. If we purchased a house in an equivalent area in CA (which is very hard to find, because of the turn CA has taken in recent years), it would cost about $2 million dollars, at least, instead of the $500k we paid. Love your channel, but you are underselling TX by a country mile! (hope that sounds right, still trying to learn how y'all talk out here 🤠😇)

I just went to collin county for 2 weeks vacation. This is what I found out:
1.) Sales tax in most bay area is 10, 11 or 12 %, it is 8% around in Frisco.
2.) $12.99-$16.99 is probably the cheapest Chinese lunch special in Bay area except SF China Town.
However, that is the "All you can eat Asian food" price in many Chinese restaurants of Collin county. Also, there are so many
food choices. Those restaurants are very crowded in the weekend1
3.) In McDonald, the breakfast biscuit is $1.49 in Collin county; the cheapest in Bay area is $2.56.
By the way, I walked around the Omni Hotel in Fields development. The view to the PGA golf fields is so beautiful! ( I just
had a very upset phone conversation with someone before walking around that area; then, I felt so good and so happy!
so, I can tell that living in the fields can completely change your life.)
I also drove through northern portion of Preston road in Prosper, Jerry Jones's "The gate of Prosper development" totally changed
the landscape of that area's Prosper. I did my best to identify the small CVS building which used to be the biggest shopping store in Prosper as what as I can remember.

One thing you forgot is toll rod it adds up A LOT a day. For family TX is amazing!!! Depends on what phase of life you are. From suburb on CA we went to Frisco now back to OC I would say house is a huge difference of price but again house is your business and the amount of
Equity you make is larger compared to TX. All depends. Not to mention weather is TX is horrible and CA is amazing!!! No HOA certain areas and property tax so low. Good comparison

@@MaddyParikh_Realestate where there is no HOA? Someone on UA-cam compared if you buy house in TX for $350k and in CA for $500k, that payment you make in TX is actually higher monthly than in CA because of higher taxes and insurance. Also, job market and pay in CA and TX are not comparable, not to mention weather, crime rate, constant danger of hurricanes and tornadoes.

Riverside is NOT LA. Compare Silver Lake or West Lake in the LA area. If you live Riverside, it will take you 90 minutes to drive downtown with traffic.

The weather in Houston is very fierce when compared to Los Angeles though, I think it's really based on preference, if you really have the financial means, you will probably enjoy California more, however if you are middle income or less, then Texas is by far the better choice to live.

    Hello Dana (& Pastor Brandon).....
Thanks for making this video a couple days ago, about the "California vs Texas Cost of Living.
As an overtaxed, unhappy California resident in the Greater Sacramento Area, those are some interesting amounts compared between leftist, demo-rat run Commiefornia and Mostly, GOP Conservative, Lone Star State.
I am still hoping and praying.....it's God's Will (not mine) (Matthew 6:33, 7:7; Philippians 4:19) to move and relocate to the Lone Star State and especially, He would bless and provide the funds needed to make the big move to Texas, maybe next year.
Thanks again Dana (and Pastor Brandon; God's Wonderful Blessings to you both and your dear family as well. 😊🙏🙏🙏📖

92506 is the better part of Riverside...not average. You also need to factor in how nice the people are in Texas...impossible to put in a monetary value, but Texas would win all day over California.

Texan here, moved to CA few months ago. I buy Walmart, Target, Aldi and price are completely SAME for the products I buy. But, in Texas, people still working for $13-15 per hour even less. One bedroom in CA is $2000, place I left in Texas rent was $1800. Here, I make double money than in Texas and lifestyle is pretty laid back. Only gas is cheaper in Texas because they have their own refineries. In CA gas would not be necessary anymore, because most people drive Tesla. If you want to buy house in CA, it was always expensive, so you can't compare apples and oranges.

Exactly! CA is paying more than $20/hr more for my job than TX. Things might be cheaper there but they make shitty wages in TX. CA is a bit expensive for a reason. If i ever want to buy a house i might movd to Fl.

If you sell your 1500 Sq ft house in Southern California for 500k and you purchase a 1500 sq ft home in Fort Worth for 350k to 400k you think to yourself OK that's cheaper than California. That's great. WRONG. Because when people started moving from the west coast states they were used to outrageous, overinflated home prices. So they were eager to pay 35% less.
But, that $350k home you just bought was only 180k a year before. Why? Because the home sales industry encouraged sellers here to double the price just for little Ole you. Because you didn't refuse to pay the asking price. Now Texas is becoming Southern California.

  • @teresasalisbury4748
    @teresasalisbury4748 7 місяців тому

Please do houses by price per sq ft. That varies by neighborhood, hard to compare. But utilities are ridiculous in Texas, year 'round, property taxes aren't going down, that's a fallacy. As people move to Texas, and overpay for houses, house values rise.
"Top cities" in Texas are being ruined!
    Californian conservatives

  • @rampar77
    @rampar77 Рік тому

You were not comparing equal on gas. No one was going to buy the cheapest gas. You should have compared let say Shell.
You also should not compared Fort Worth to Riverside. I lived in So Calif for over 40 years, and I wouldn't live in Riverside for free!!!
I wouldn't live anywhere in So Calif except near the South Bay Beaches or Orange County. You should compare houses in those areas.
I live in Fort Worth in 1,500 sq ft, 3/2, 10 years old house. and worth $280,000. We have few minority. Similar to Huntington Beach, Calif where I used to live. This same house worth at least $1,000,000 in So Calif. I also received senior and Homestead exemption. My tax is less than $300 a month.
We don't have state income tax. Homeless, no shop lifting in local Walmart, or illegals, and we have low crimes.

No way, every Walmart has theft. Property taxes are awful, especially in rural areas where they are doing nothing for the people they are taxing the heck out of. It's sad, we used to be a 'great' state. We are getting to be a state for the wealthy to come and escape.

I’m in year 2, moved from North New Jersey to north of Dallas. Cost of living - no contest! My 3 br, 1 1/2 bath, 2 car garage in NJ - $1,000,000 + $14,000 property tax. Texas 3 br, 2 bath, 2 car garage - $400,000 + 2022 property tax $6,850 (should be maybe $1,400 less this year). NJ lot 25% larger + house 20% larger. Gas price NJ 0.40¢ to 0.50¢ a gallon more than Texas. NEW JERSEY INCOME TAX - TEXAS NO INCOME TAX; the last full year I worked in NJ, $90,000 income & paid $4,000 income tax! My native Texas neighbors think their property taxes are high - I tell them they have no clue!!! Note: I followed my daughter to Texas, she is saving more than $1,000 a month compared to her Rhode Island State income tax!!! Keep Texas TAXAS 🤠

Dana Honey…. Stick with things you really know…. Cause you spelled Walmart with 2 “L’s”…. So let’s not pretend you actually shop there. Your clientele in Dallas shop at Central Market and your California audience shops at Gelsons and they don’t care about grocery prices.
The giant elephant in the room is taxes and insurance. You spend $1M on a house in TX and your property taxes and insurance on the house is 25-$30k a year. Plan on auto insurance to be 50-60% more in TX……. Then look at your combined CA income tax bill, property taxes and home and auto insurance and compare to what you would pay in TX vs. CA…….
