Be very careful with alcohol. My brother had gastric bypass and within two years was a full blown alcoholic. Studies have shown that often gastric patients will substitute one addiction for another.

That’s exactly what happened to my mom. She went from cigarettes to food, had gastric bypass, and then ended up going to pills and alcohol. She passed away Feb 2020 from a drug overdose. To be fair, she already had mental health issues to begin with. Still can be very dangerous though!

I love you but medical professional here….and I know you gave a disclaimer. Estrogen fuels cancer growth, especially breast cancer. PLEASE anyone thinking about taking these. Have your hormones checked before taking any estrogen producing/promoting “vitamins”.

Yes, please be careful. Estrogen caused me to have blood clots, that lead to multiple pulmonary embolisms, then it caused my endometrial cancer which led to me not being able to have children. I joke that I was just too much woman, but it can be very serious.

Im so glad you’re talking about the positive and negative effects of your surgery. People who have never struggled with overeating don’t understand the crutch that food can be for people. I’m a binge eater, I go through times where I’m nearly throwing up every night and feel terrible all the time. I’ve slowly been trying to stop binging and it’s hard. I’ve been doing an okay job for the most part, but I’m traveling all summer starting this weekend and am nervous about how I’m going to balance experiencing the food as much as possible while also not slipping back into old destructive habits. If anyone has any tips on how they balance it PLEASE let me know, I love so many aspects of food and don’t want to lose the positives in this journey. I’m also concerned on how I can explain my issue to my friend who im spending everyday with for a month. I know it’ll come up and I want to explain it in the best way possible.

What is the food OK and then finally I had to tell our regular waitress. For those saying she never complained, she has always been open about her struggles. Some days she would even be crying while talking to us. I applaud her for keeping a positive attitude and living her best life most of the time. That's life. I don't go to my job and share my struggles in life because no one would want to hear it. Same with UA-camrs. This is their job. Of course they are going to lament their problems all the time.

Went up to 230. And I've bounced around since. It is not my sleeve failing that caused this. It still works just fine. It's what I'm eating (pop sugar chips) that and not enough exersize. I'm on the track back to getting healthy now. And you inspire me to go back to what I learned when I started with this surgery. It is a helpful key in the process. Love you girl. If u truly think about eating, it’s totally psychological. We have been programmed at an early age that food is a tool /weapon. I’m so happy for you and the successful journey you’ve gone on - u look and sound amazing! So very proud of you.

Be careful drinking. I know several people who have become alcoholics after gastric bypass. Because they don’t have to drink much to become drunk.
    You look great!!

Yes, transfer addiction is common. When overeating is taken away, people often turn to something else to fill that void. It’s not just alcohol but can be things like shopping or gambling too.
Edit: becoming drunk, does not equal alcoholism.

I was in a triangle i couldn't get out of. I ate because I was sad, I was sad because I was obese, I was obese because I ate too much. Food was my best friend but also my worst enemy!!! Xx

I use to weigh 237 and now weigh 142. I lost 95lbs naturally and have lots loose skin 😔 I think I’m more critical about my body now.

thank you for this. I am getting the surgery on the 27th of this month and im actually kinda terrified. Not of the actual surgery or if I can do it, I am just afraid of being depressed or going into a depression because i won't be able to eat the foods i love. My friend got the surgery and she makes it sound like I can never have tacos again or any foods i love. It's really nice hearing things from your perspective
