Song for today is Southbound Again, one of Mark's "geography" songs from the very first album. I've recorded two songs today, one is this one, from the debut album and the other is from Down The Road Wherever, from the latest album. Pretty funny if you ask me, jumping between 40 years of music. What stays is the quality of this music... You already know, that's why I'm here. Southbound Again is a very easy song, but with no evidence of live recordings done with studio arrangement it's hard to make it out. But to me it only adds challenge and I'm ready to deliver this song. Again, no evidence means that I'm not sure about all of it, maybe I'm 100% wrong, but this is part of the fun. Enjoy! Pavel.

Pavel, thank you for being the guiding light on my path of getting better in playing. Mark made me pick up the guitar last Christmas and since then I managed to nail for example Postcards about 95%, my life's main soundtrack since two years. Just yesterday I learned Boom Like That, two weeks ago Song for Sonny.
Sure, it would be good for me to figure more songs out by myself, and that time will come, but in the meantime you are providing us all with lessons that make complicated things easy to understand and replicate.
I'm looking forward to seeing your songbook grow in size and recognition!

I have always loved this riff and never seemed to get so close to the original as you've come. I still must return to this video to get a grip on a few riffs, but you clearly have it. I have long felt that all the guitar parts have Marks fingerprints rather than something played by another player. Hence not possible to play it live without re-arranging the piece.
It seemed right to me that this part could be played on accoustic; you've shown the way. Thanks so much for this video.

Ради такого дела даже внимательно переслушал 15 разных версий "Southbound Again". И гитару в руки взял, немного помузицировал, крайне редко последнее время что-то. Плохо совсем... Но не будем о скорбном. В общем сошлись во взглядах. И действительно, есть столько живых версий, но ни одной записи видео в коллекции (одной из самых больших в мире) не нашел. Неужели вовсе нет. А разбор и рассказ отличные.
Спасибо! Конечно все остальные версии другие, потому что очень трудно это играть и петь одновременно. Интересно, почему он решил именно такой рифф записать, но имеем что имеем.

Is the live version bit you okay at the end in open G as well?
The hard part is playing the C on the D string without damping the D on the G string. My sloppy hands have trouble with it.
Could you teach the chords on the open g tuning??
