Yup, my singing is something I get commented on a lot (in a bad way), but you got it absolutely right, my main focus is playing guitar. And the song is not only about singing, so I give it a shot. Singing is not only good for the song but also good for teaching, shows where to play what. Thank you!

I remember very well when I got my hands on the first Dire Straits LP, I was tasting song for song, (at that time I knew so well: Down To The Waterline, SOS and Wild West End, the first and second due to the MFN compilation from 1988 and WWE through vhs Dire Straits The Videos), I was impressed with everything here, until Lions arrived, I was very intrigued by this song, it was strange and at the same time very seductive, unlike anything else, it was the song that more bewitched me, I would say. This was more than 20 years ago and I still feel the same spell when I meet her, she is in the right place, closes the album with a golden key, enhances the melancholic atmosphere of the album and links to the woman present on the album cover , my mind created this connection at the time and scored. Singing well is extremely difficult to do well. Unless you're born with perfectly tuned vocal chords and a reasonable range in pitch, you have to work very hard just to sound acceptable. Some people can sound great no matter what they sing, like Lennon or McCartney from the Beatles, the majority of us aren't as lucky. Good on you Pavel for giving it a go. Your not half bad, and it takes a lot of guts to sing publicly. Guitar work, fantastic, Knopfler will be proud of you. I'm amazed how or why he hasn't heard you, reached out and credited you for doing such a fine job.
Thank you so much! You're 100% right about voice. With a great voice, you don't even need a guitar sometimes, it's like clothing on people cursed with a fine body. Throw any piece of cloth and you'll look like Brad Pitt! And Mark doesn't need to reach out because he would gain nothing from it. He's a quiet and private guy who's not famous for reaching out to everyone like Brian May and other musicians, so I'm definitely not waiting for feedback. And it's even better when people are diametrically apart, live literally in different worlds, and yet still get a soul connection when it comes to songs. I love that.

Вот тут я немного бессилен. Правда, наверно не потому что мне не интересно, а потому что в некоторых случаях языковые и территориальные барьеры слишком высокие и понимать всякие отсылки к британским городам и редким книгам выше моих сил. Так что я просто наслаждаюсь музыкой :)

I think acoustic guitar is just more suited for songwriting, every songwriter I know usually writes on acoustic anyway. It's more natural, and besides, it gives an opportunity of performing the song alone. And Mark's solo performances are fabulous, I wish he played alone more, and sorta trying to do it so he doesn't need to. Haha! Thank you.
