*Over the past 36 hours, there have been persistent rumors that US Lt. Gen. Roger Cloutier is trapped with +/-4,000 Azov Battalion fighters in the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol.* Further rumors are that Cloutier and other NATO officers are in fact hostages of Azov Battalion. It is known that: 1. French Pres. Macron has contacted Pres. Putin to create a humanitarian corridor out of Azovstal. 2. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have sent at least 7 helicopters at various times to evacuate a small number of people, losing at least 4. 3. Gen. Cloutier trained AFU men, including the Azov Battalion. See picture. 13 hours ago (midnight Turkey/Ukraine time) Gen. Cloutier answered a message on his LinkedIn account, refuting the rumors that he was in Mariupol, but not giving his location. His LinkedIn profile says that he is in Turkey at a conference. That is all the information we currently know. The US Department of Defense has ignored requests for comment.

From what I've been seeing and hearing, there seems to be mainly 4 kinds of Russians when it comes to this situation in Ukraine:
    1. People who are against it
    2. Against it or undecided, but won't discuss it in fear of punishment.
    3. Older people who were raised in Soviet Russia, so they are conditioned to HAVE to go along with it, even if they disagree.
    4. People who believe state propaganda and fully support Putin (Seems like these people are almost always over 40 years old).

(I'm the girl in the video)
I've already posted this in another thread, because of course the issue of how Georgians feel about all this is important. This particular CNN crew seemed to cover this as well (maybe in other episodes), they are in Georgia for a week before heading for Ukraine.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's something like this, right?
First, it sucks a huge lot that many Russians supported, ignored or for some reason didn't educate themselves on Russia's hostile actions towards Georgia and Georgians. They can afford to, they have that privilege, and not much can be done about it. 2008, the borderisation, deporting Georgians from Russia (while Russians continue to enjoy easy entrance to Georgia), treating Georgians like shit in Russia, erasing the culture, taking the hospitality for granted, being entitled imperialistic assholes, and we haven't even started talking about the Soviet times and all the people murdered then. This is really, really bad.
Second, even well-meaning Russians have lots of leftover imperialistic entitlement that Georgians have to put up with because Georgia is too economically dependent on Russia. This is also bad.
Third, there's outright assholery coming from some Russians from the current migration batch. Like pretending to be Ukrainians to get humanitarian aid or rent an apartment. This is just evil.
Fourth, there are inconveniences and problems that Russians create simply by being in Georgia. Like the current housing crisis and locals being kicked out of the apartments they rented because some remotely working yoga-loving software engineer can afford to pay a thousand dollars a month for a room. Or maybe contributing to the probability of Russia coming to "defend Russians against evil Georgian nationalists." I don't know if this contributes much: I think if Putin wanted to invade Georgia, he wouldn't really need much of a justification. But it sucks to feel this pressure and to be constantly reminded of the threat.
These are all bad things, and I'm sorry you have to deal with all this.
And thank you for the support you decide to give us anyway.

Recently, I watched a documentary about the fact that Ukraine, after the collapse of the USSR, had 1,270 warheads that were on intercontinental missiles, as well as over 1,000 warheads of medium-range bombs and tactical shells. All this Ukraine transferred to Russia by agreement with the world community, including the aggressor of Russia. We were promised the protection of our sovereignty. And at the same time we were deceived now we are not given free fly zone over our country. A little ask for the fact that we were left without nuclear weapons! We are ready to fight Until the last breath for our native land, our native Ukraine, but at the same time we ask Western countries to help us with weapons and provide air defense with force! I remember they were saying it was quite successful and attracting Russians from all over to return and work in Russia. Now it's the opposite and everyone is running away. Idk what Putin had hoped to accomplish with the invasion but it's clear the only thing he has accomplished is completely destroying his legacy and all the progress Russia had made since the Soviet Union collapse. NATO is like planning to rule the World or a World Domination by taking powerful countries while Russia don't want NATO to do that. That's why Russia is having a war against Ukraine. "When a pollster calls and asks if they approve of Putin they will most likely say yes out of fear. The 80% approval rating is a little laughable."
The very logic of the Western layman, who was immersed in the information "matrix", is ridiculous! Today Putin's rating is 81%, back in mid-March it was 79%, and before the start of the military operation, 67%. In Russia, anyone can express dissatisfaction with Putin (and they are not afraid of this), but posting fakes about Russia and the Russian army is unacceptable (when the entire aggressive West is fighting against Russia, with the help of "expendable material" in the form of Ukraine), which is why a law was passed in March that a fine is provided for fake materials on the Internet and if these information materials led to a tragedy, then even a prison sentence (where the maximum term is 15 years). So the Russian government is doing everything right, because there are cynical, brazen lies in the Western media (including the events in Bucha), because Russia destroyed American "assets" in Ukraine, where the United States had big plans with the help of an armed and trained Ukraine to solve the Donbass issue (where there would have been tens of thousands of victims) and then Crimea (where in 2013-2014 the United States wanted to create its own naval base, expelling Russia from there)...

The country received the greatest casualties, the worst financial and psychological damage. War and post-war unrest have completely ravaged Abkhazia. Even today, the region of Abkhazia, which enjoys de facto independence from Georgia, still faces severe social and economic problems. Despite its self-proclaimed independence, the Abkhaz region is entirely dependent on the Russian Federation. Six people, with their hands tied at the back, were doused with petrol and left in a locked room in a village, as the soldiers moved away to start burning other houses first. Their purpose was to burn those people alive as the fire spread to that house. About 200 soldiers pounded that village with heavy artilleries before entering and started shooting. The local guerrilla forces received the information of the 6 people from the villagers. A small unit of guerrillas quietly slid into the village and freed the 6 men, just in time to save their lives. No! It’s not in Ukraine. It was in Burma (Myanmar). It occurred on the 4th of April in a village called “Mee Loun Kyun” (မီးလောင်ကျွန်းကျေးရွာ) in Yesagyo Township. The whole country is currently being torched by the ruthless fascist military regime. Later on, the local People’s Defence Force (PDF) staged guerrilla warfare and managed to kill 15 soldiers including 2 officers (virtually with hunting rifles and home-made weapons). People of Burma understand and support the people of Ukraine. As Ukraine is being scorched, people of Burma know how terrible it is, to be in that horrible situation. They stand together in solidarity with the Ukrainians. May the President Zelenskyy and the heroic people of Ukraine defeat the invading Russian marauders!

I listen to vox pop (Russians on the street) and they do not support a full invasion of Ukraine, say Ukraine should have the right to self-determination (even most older Russians say this), and younger generations rarely support Putin. Folks see little alternative to Putin and say he improved many aspects in relation to past Russia, but that does not mean they support the massive invasion and slaughter. Folks who do not use the Internet enough think it is just defense of separatists regions, which would be a different story (though even just defending separatists regions is really not a viable solution and does not excuse Putin's forceful policies in any case). My point is just to not demonize ordinary Russians. A lot of Americans, mostly the mass media, supported the illegal and unwarranted invasion of Iraq, which was truly horrible and led to even more despair and horror after (and I am being very diplomatic not to mention some of the crimes committed during the bombings and occupation).

Europe in 1941 made Nazi Germany a striking force in the war against Russia, which was then the USSR. And now she was preparing and arming Ukraine for the same purpose! But they did not take into account that half of the population of Ukraine is Russian, 10% Ukrainians, and even fewer Nazis. Russia struck first, not wanting to allow war on its land, although Ukraine is also Russian land and Russia created it. The Russians have enough resources. in order not to freeze and not to starve. They don't need Euros and Dollars right now. because they cannot and no longer want to buy Western products. But Russia continues to pump oil and gas to Europe. Why do they need it? Patience and goodwill are not infinite. The United States now desperately needs a larger-scale war in Europe in order to solve its internal problems again, as in the 1st and 2nd world wars, and keep the world in its banking sector of the Fed
