hollow is my favorite character because he experiences something you don’t usually get to see from a perspective like his- immense, overwhelming change, to the point where you completely lose yourself and everything you thought you knew. his little mind experiencing the significance of the entire planet is genunely too much for him to comprehend- and he just melts away, back to his original self. reminds me of zima blue in a way. at least that’s how i interpreted it
I love this scene so much. I interpret it as Levi reminding the creature of the balance of nature, and its place in it. It had become too greedy and Levi brought it back to its senses.
It quite poetic that this Levi was originally programmed by Fiona and she put a lot of herself into it and this particular Hollow was in a symbiotic relationship with Kamen which took some of his instincts as it's own. In a way in was Fiona's victory in defeating this Hollow, after all Kamen abandoned her to die in Demeter before she could even go into cryosleep.
@@selalewow Agree totally. And Levi becoming one with Vesta not only made it sentient it also led to rebirth in the form of tiny Levis from the roots of the white flowers, which I felt were a symbol of regeneration in itself. Vesta was neither all hostile nor all kind. It just was.
i love this episode because how detailed and amazing it is, i love how the entire world and every particle and every situation is all comprehended in levi's mind
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MONTHS. The original artist posted some OST on his instagram, but thats about it. Would be a bummer if they dont release all OST. They're all so good.
I think within Levi is the unconscious life force of the planet, so when the telepathic monster attempts to mind control Levi their power taps into this life force. They get the visions of the crewtion of the planet and at the end the experiences of the scavenger (forget his name) as they are pulled apart. The monster was a mutation of natural life since man was never meant set foot on the planet so Levi is re balancing nature which is his purpose.
@@MistaZULE I believe the programming of Fiona and her voice atleast immortalized her when Levi merged w/ the flower and conjoined into the natural order like a grafted branch.
@@ozymandiasramesses1773that's a really god interpretation I hadn't considered. I hoped something good happened to Fiona. If it weren't for the Scavenger's selfishness and cowardice she would still be alive, so if he were to give her some semblance of immortality that would be a fitting end for her as a character.
@@MistaZULE I don't even consider the Hollow a monster. It seemed to take on the selfishness of kamen once they bonded together. I feel it's an analogy of how man selfisly manipulates nature. Because Kamen only thought of himself and consumption, the creature did as well after it linke up with Kamen and when into his subconciousness. I don't really see the hollow as a "villain" as nature isn't good or evil. It just is.
It actually is a lot more powerful to me this way. Hes not a pet or a peer more of Kamen's familiar/codependent who together exist outside natural order. Neither is truly evil. In rehab for wild endangered species the final step is weaning and getting the animal to be careful around humans.
The life of this planet doesn't share anything like the human concept of morality. Punishment, revenge... those are human motivations. Hollow was simply returned to their proper role.
And the wise hivemind said: "You got swole, alright, but you cheated to get your gains. I, the supreme creator, now confiscate them." And in a flash of unimaginable light the Hollow's ill-gotten GAINS were no more, he became the scrawny child he was always meant to be, his bulk evaporated by the radiance of the Creator.

Ok but I can't get over the fact Levi can just. shoot a laser. Like, she can just DO that. Probably would have killed Hollow, too, if it wasnt for the weird regeneration creatues on that planet have.
I'd like to know more about the nature of the blast coming from Levi. How did it happen? What type of energy was it? It's beautiful thematically, but logistically I'm a little confused.
I don't know if you can even call it a blast. It didn't damage the soil, or send anything flying. It didn't harm the human who was right in the middle of it. It didn't even kill Hollow. The effect was more a surgical disintegration - a careful, precise and very selective form of destruction. I would interpret that whatever Levi is, or is connected to, chose to intervene with some overwhelming command of the planetary biology. Some collective awareness of the planetary life, usually too dispersed to be aware of such minutiae as the actions of individual animals, was briefly drawn to focus fully upon the actions - and so acted, intervening by seizing control of Hollow. Not to punish - that's a human concept - but rather to return things to their proper order, setting Hollow back into their proper role and ending this disruptive form of symbiosis. Hollow's kind are the closest native life has shown to what humans would consider intelligent - they have the ability to adapt, to form complex bonds, and form long-term plans. But they are not intelligent in the same way humans are. Levi is something entirely novel: A whole new kind of mind. If the planetary awareness has anything like human curiosity, it might want to keep Levi around and see if this new way of thinking can be replicated. As for humans, it might not even recognise them as life at all.
La canción se llama "Vesta" y es parte de la banda sonora de la serie. La subieron hace poco a Spotify. Búscala como Scavengers Reign de Nicolas Snyder.
The cult we see at the end seems to be both bearing cybernetic augments and markings of foreign infection. Perhaps a radical fanatic movement towards Naturalism is going to be a catalyst for a shift in wider human civilization.

The biology of the planet is clearly highly, highly adaptable. I would not be surprised to find it does have some form of collective awareness, but not one that is intelligent in any sense humans would agree with. And now it knows there are other planets. Would it even understand why the life elsewhere might object to curious assimilation?
This is one of the best, most unique, and most interesting hero/villain confrontations ever.
It looks a lot like the climactic duel between Harry Potter and Voldemort. A confrontation between altruism and egotism.
