    Why not using a machine? We put our hands with the workpiece in a machine and step on a gear and boom

    It doesn't look like he's using the right blast media for the job, and maybe not enough air pressure. Silica wasn't cutting it quick enough, black beauty, coal slag, with enough air pressure, such as a 950 compressor, and that paint would have come off much quicker with a better profile on the substrate. Not as much the painter/blaster's fault, more so his supervisors.

    He is doing by pressure blaster .. from where this guy have a moving pressure pot with wheel ,inside that pressurized air and media(abrasive) mix in a mixing tube and from air it pushes to a job from a boron or tugeston carbide nozzle . But opertor should. Wear proper safety wear and a working dead man handle to control on and off of blasting .

    What's funny out of it all is the blaster has no control over amount of sand or chugging what have you, as far as media coal slag copper slag changes as you blast depending on moisture so camera man or "foreman" can change it how he sees fit and leave his grunt to do the hard part.

    we all know that in the construction Industry EVERYBODYS GOT THEIR OWN IDEAS,and all feel equally right on their opinion or idea. the construction Industry is still pretty green, you do what you're told . so this guy probably has the type of boss that said I don't care how you do, but get it done. and here he is, not doing a great job , but getting it done. so falling back on my statement. on personal opinions . read ALL comments below lol. I know of these type of boxes because I have 4 of them. lol.

    Great!
    There was a company in Launceston UK that used to do this. The air came from a road compressor and black grit was used. They would even blast semi-trailers in preparation for the MOT (vehicle annual safety test) but now they have ceased.
    Health & Safety, Business Rates and Insurance are killing everything over here! For example a blue water yachtsman told me that Venezuela is THE place to get grit blasting and galvanizing done but for me it is much too far.

      Jay Perez I start my apprenticeship next month I’d like to learn on what I should know going in brand new. Can you put me up on game. What’s a pattern

    • @joeham141
      @joeham141 5 років тому +2

      DEE FRESKO your pattern is basically what your substrate(whatever it is your blasting ) looks like after you’re done blasting. If you do circles you’re going to have shadows(darker spots on substrate) that are not uniform and doesn’t look as good as blasting 50/50 overlap whether up and down or side to side. When you blast in 50/50 lines you’re blast comes out even uniform and professional. Plus doing this way will ensure your profile of your substrate is pretty much even.

    • @joeham141
      @joeham141 5 років тому +1

      DEE FRESKO your profile is what your paint or coating bonds and sticks to. We blast things to rough up the surface and prepare it for a fresh protective coating. If the substrate is smooth the paint won’t adhere properly and definitely won’t last and protect like it should.

    This video is a great simply example of how fast and easy it is to clean off rust and prep metal. It would take a few days to manually hand sand that tank. it appears this person is using plain old sand as a medium but, I'm curious how effective walnut shell as a sanding medium works. Especially while outdoors. I'm weighing the options...sand or walnut shell, or how about glass? No one should ever use the black Aluminum Oxide medium outdoors. We can choose effective materials which do not harm our soil and plant life. There are plenty of positive options.
