    With a small boat do you need to study the topography to avoid hitting rocks?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  Рік тому

      Yes with any sized boat you need to look at charts. There has been paper type since the old days but now most people use GPS chart plotter software. Navionics is a very popular one. Here is a web version to get the just of it. webapp.navionics.com/#boating@11&key=msxpHrjfzV It shows all the depths and where rocks are, and other hazards to avoid.

    We stopped at Walsh Cove on out attempted trip up Toba. Like you, we fought smoke, but also had an ebb going up and would have had a flood coming back. Stayed at Toba "Wildernest" for a couple of nights. Hiked up to their water wheel electric generator system...very fascinating. Had a small pod of Orcas pass between Double Island and the marina as I sipped my coffee early in the AM. My wife missed the show as she was in the shower. She was not happy.

      Cool, let me know what you catch. We just caught red fish, trout and whiting at padre national seashore in texas using fresh dead shrimp in the surf @@LoveYourRV

      Up here we have a good chance to catch several varieties if salmon like Coho, Pink, Chum, Sockeye and Chinook, rock fish, ling cod and halibut. I'd love to catch a small halibut. Use to have it as fish and chips all the time back when I was young but now the stuff is so expensive!

      Yes, sometimes. Mostly if I'm just chatting with my audience. Here is a recent example - ua-cam.com/video/qz2e66bexOU/v-deo.htmlsi=bNhPLpM5fHosBpQp Cheers, Ray

    Why can't you anchor for the night ?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  20 днів тому

      Just not really any good places to do so. The water is too deep in almost all of Toba Inlet to anchor. It's a deep water inlet where the steep mountains keep going hundreds of meters in to the ocean. And even if you can get anchored somewhere the winds can become very strong in the narrow channels. Some people will drop an anchor close to shore then tied multiple lines to shore, but that can get kind of hairy unless its a calm night. :) Have a look at this chart - fishing-app.gpsnauticalcharts.com/i-boating-fishing-web-app/fishing-marine-charts-navigation.html?title=Head+of%5CFond+de+Toba+Inlet+boating+app#10.36/50.3814/-124.6209

    Is it more fun on the boat than the RV (Cougar).

      Its more fun in the summer but come fall and winter the RV will be more fun again since we can take it south. :)

    Are those mosquitoes or a drone I hear around 4:50?
