Dwight Da One No he didn't hate Jewish people. That started because he was mad at a man ,who happened to be Jewish, because he didn't want to loan the Disney company any more money. So someone ran with it. Just because your mad at one person doesn't mean your a racist.
Wish I could have met Walt Disney. His gift to the world keeps in giving. Glad to have met Ward Kimball as I would see him at the Orange Empire Railway Museum , toy train meets and benefits for the Palms Depot restoration. Ward's railway was donated to Orange Empire Railway Museum and the Metrolink station in Perris, CA. has a plaque dedicated in his memory.
Just learning the skills needed to be a machinist to build a working live steam engine is impressive, even more for a person as busy as he was.....I have a regular job and I cant seem to find any free time for my hobbies anymore. I whish I had that kind of drive that he had to get the absolute most out of life and still be able to give back so much. He was an amazing man for sure.
We must pay tribute to Walt Disney kindly. I'm going to bring to life what he loved so much on my 00 gauge railway. Molly the Disneyland Engine is fitted with a Kadee coupling, and now awaits the arrival of her new Disneyland Carriages. This is for you, Walt, and the character you brought to life after you lost Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Without your creative genius, Mickey Mouse would never have graced the Magic Kingdom.
I wonder if Walt ever heard of "The Railway Series." The books that "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends" was based on. Probably not because If so I have no doubt that he would have tried buying the rights to adapt the series.
You left out how Walt originally also tried to buy the former Overfair Railway MacDermott 1/3rd scale Pacifics to be used at what would become Disneyland, but the man who owned them at the time, a former Southern Pacific steam engineer of the legendary Coast Daylight, who was also a friend of Walt's, refused to sell, on the grounds he believed them to be too small for what Walt planned on doing. Instead, he recommended a "larger miniature" or what ended up being the 5/8ths scale locomotives. One of those Overfair Pacifics is at the California State Railroad museum, the rest are in private hands in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Thank you very much for this. One of my earliest Disney memories is seeing the 'sound effects special' with Casey Jnr - is it called the 'Reluctant Dragon?' at about the age of five, and being awfully disappointed to find it wasn't actually in 'Dumbo' itself. As for the beautiful model King class locomotive (lucky Walt) I noticed that sadly it has lost its driving wheel splashers (called mudguards, on an American locomotive) and nameplates. Any chance of their being restored to it? The Carolwood Pacific even got to make the front cover of a 1950's French model railway magazine, with a good photo article about it inside.
I understand Walt never steamed that beautiful British steam locomotive because it got water damaged while it was being shipped to America. does anyone have any more information on the GWR King class engine
Gush, I'm like Walt Disney. I love train when I was a kid. Amazing Ward Kimball be running the theme park of Locomotive. The train I would love to have is Ward Kimball train Casey Jr from Dumbo. It my favorite character train for all times
I guess from Late-October until December 24, 1949, Walt Disney build his 1/8 scale locomotive they named it Lillly Belle in honor of his wife. All the while The Carrollwood Pacific Railroad was being built as well
Thank you..great info..shows the love of railroad Walt had and how important it was. It was the first thing on the list Walt wanted for DisneyLand. Sad that the Disney comp does not feel the same any more. Disney (B cheapeck) dis-honor Walt's memory, the railroad not going to be open at WDW for the 50th. So much closed it not Walt Disney World it is Bob Capeck World. D23 is even being held @wdw and there no railroad there for it. So it insult Walt's memory. Very say you walk over to barn stormer and the station, all you see is track piled up rusting. Hopefully someone is at least maintaining the trains so they are not rusting falling in disrepair... But thank you for the memory.. Work like a capt, party like a pirate..
That Bassett Lowke store was at 112 High Holborn, the original building is still there, but now it's a McDonalds.....
I miss Walt Disney. Only memories are left behind these days. He gave jobs to people, young and old, he made kids happy.
Mick Carson
And he was an antisemitic son of a bitch who would do anything for money.
Dwight Da One
Do you mean he didn't like the Jews?
Mick Carson
Yep. He even sympathised with Hitler and the Nazis from what I know.
Dwight Da One No he didn't hate Jewish people. That started because he was mad at a man ,who happened to be Jewish, because he didn't want to loan the Disney company any more money. So someone ran with it. Just because your mad at one person doesn't mean your a racist.
@@dwightdaone2815 That's Not True.

i like how he had a GWR King Class
I think it's a castle
As a railfan, this make me admire Disney more. :)
An anime and railfan. This brings a smile to my face.

Walt sure loved his trains =)
Walt sure had one hell of a life time of trains that I almost wish I could get involve to it myself.
1:16 - I see a Great Western engine, of some kind behind the presenter. As I happen to be English, I credit whoever uploaded this video!
I love trains also

Merry Christmas Kelly. :)
My love of trains came from Wilbert Awdry and Britt Alcroft.
I guess it took a Couple of months to build the Lilly Belle locomotive like between late October and December 24, 1949
I wonder if Walt ever heard of "The Railway Series." The books that "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends" was based on. Probably not because If so I have no doubt that he would have tried buying the rights to adapt the series.
Disney would do it better than Mattel

Good call
Now it only Disney Studios could come up with an animated theatrical release film about trains.
We already have enough featuring cars and planes.
exveefan thomas the tank engine by disney probably pretty aweful
As long as they don’t bounce like chuggington.
JAM Rail vids Nothing wrong with that. It is a kids show after all.
Well Disney didn't make any movies about trains but Warner bros made the polar Express
Well we have Casey Junior, so that's a start.
1:40 - That's could be pun; 'cause "[he] _trained_ him." Get it, "trained"?

does anyone have any more information on the GWR King class engine
I love being able to camp next to Walt's barn and see his trains on year for the ghost trains at LALS, still a member but have not been south in years
Did Kimball ever get his miniature GWR King Class back from Disney?
It would be amazing if they added a small live steam railroad in the Orlando Disney world and put a mini big boy 40-
They need to enhance Magic Kingdom's train loop TBH. Too much pine forest, not enough show elements, like they have for the Disneyland RR.
‘Long live the King!’
Nooooo
Gush, I'm like Walt Disney. I love train when I was a kid. Amazing Ward Kimball be running the theme park of Locomotive. The train I would love to have is Ward Kimball train Casey Jr from Dumbo. It my favorite character train for all times
Why didn't he buy copies of the Railway Series books by the Rev. W. Awdry?
Disney world epcot was supposed to be A train themed area.
The GWR King Class 4-6-0 No. 6000 ‘KING GEORGE V’
I guess from Late-October until December 24, 1949, Walt Disney build his 1/8 scale locomotive they named it Lillly Belle in honor of his wife. All the while The Carrollwood Pacific Railroad was being built as well
Walt had a Lione layout in his office
Disneyland is the end result of Walt's midlife crisis with model trains.
Love it!
What is the toy train Walt is holding at 1:25 ?
John Doe If looks like a 2-2-2 Adler to me
More like a gauge 1 patente locomotive.
Does anyone know what type writer Walt used to use? They never mention it. No matter how many videos are shown of his office
Amazing video
Where can a person see Walts trains ,model ones included,
I like the Gwen king class
I wonder if Walt Disney himself had ever been a fan of Thomas the Tank Engine.
