What an awesome story. I have been a member at LALS for a while now and am semi in shock at how much of a similar path I’m following. I remember as a kid going to LALS and wanting to join as a member, then finally in 2009 I joined. I started off with smaller locomotives and now I’m following in Walt’s footsteps building a 5” scale 7.5” gauge 2-4-4t forney. Knowing myself, I’ll probably continue to do the rest just as Walt did lol. Thank you so much for sharing. A lot of details I didn’t even know.
Toy Man Television I will keep you posted. Message me and we can discuss it better. Would be great to have you out when both of my forneys are completed. Yes, I am building more than one lol
You must have friends in high places. Those shots backstage at Disneyland are not easy to get! Also that nice shot from behind the engineers. Great video.
I think it’s awesome that all engines except for the Ward Kimball started service in Disneyland while many railroads still commonly used steam engines.
One of the reasons for the Santa Fe executive names on a coulpe of the engines was because at one time, it use to be known as the Disneyland & Santa Fe Railroad.
LOL! I just came across this!! I was at Disney Land just a month before you made this video!! Great information! Much of this I haven't heard before! Keep those weekly vids coming! Thanks! :D
Cant get the reply to work again. Was not sure when the Ward Kimball was built, thought it was 2008. 2005 is correct. Also, BIG MISTAKE. I listed Roger Brogie as the Carolwood Society, CORRECTION! Carolwood Foundation. Do look for them on the web. carolwood.org/
+AustNRail They say it's the happiest place on earth. OK NOT! But a great day out for sure!! Railroad is closed for a year or so as they are building Star Wars Land. But I love the backstory. Back there again this year. As always.
This is a grawesome video! I too am into model railroads, and live steam railroading action. Because of my love for steam locomotives, I thought up of a new locomotive that's exactly like a steamer, only all it needs is electricity and the power of wind! I call it a slip stream locomotive. I'm inspired by his creativity and his imagination and especially his backyard railroad and Disneyland. And especially wanting to make the world a better place with the monorail system. I love the monorail system as well. So not only do I wanna create the slip stream locomotive, but also diesel locomotives that're powered electricity and the power of wind too. They are called diesel wind electric locomotives. I especially thought up new streamliners due to my love of the streamlined era. This leads up to my vision of another Disney park I thought up which I call Disney B. Hub. B is for Boone.
Have you seen our video, what ever happened to the Atomic Train? and several other Disneyland videos. Check the channel! Fun and weird!! Do share and glad you liked it!!!!!
Another man that helped Disney's passion was George Allan Hancock, the savior of the shortline here in Santa Maria. In fact, when Old 21 was retired(the only Stemie ever built new for the SMV, and a Beautiful Baldwin she is), Disney came up for the final run and rode in the cab with Hancock. Disney also supposedly said that his tribute to 21 would to keep steam as the main power in the parks forever. Baldwin 21 is wrapping up a major restoration in Astoria Oregon and should be done within the year or early next year.
Toy Man Television It's being restored by a private party in Astoria, Oregon. The building it's being restored in is at 432 W. Marine Dr, Astoria, Oregon. It should be exciting to see it out and about again.
Andie Bonette amazing right?? Have you seen the next 3 shows walking with Walt on the Mark Twain, monorail and Small Railroads? Really fun and informative.
Are you familiar with the Orange Empire Railway Museum? They have Ward Kimball's 2 steam locomotives and a couple of his cars in their collection. Also the Emma Nevada is currently in the process of being restored to run again.
I have an Oil Can, the type to Oil the gears that says "Property of Walt and Roy Disney Railroad" had it checked out and it was never available to the Public, found in a old barn in Central Texas
Thanks for the history. I am a mild train buff married to a Disney buff--no. Disney FANATIC!! is more accurate. I mean, I had my childhood crush on Karen and Darlene, followed by utter adolescent infatuation with Annette, but I never became the fanatic my wife is. And now that we have a grandson, her fanaticism is not only relapsed, but augmented. A couple years ago, while planning a spring Disney World visit, we attended a local train show and one of the guest speakers was Michael Broggie. So we attended his lecture together, my wife motivated by love of Disney, intrigue with trains on my part. Because of that lecture, I added the roundhouse tour, Behind the Magic of our Steam Trains. Now that we're planning another WDW trip, I was thinking about taking that tour again. That's why I came to youtube, looking for any videos of that tour. Your video came up next, and I'm glad I watched it. Guess I need a trip to Disneyland to improve balance of marital interests.
2 Corrections, the Ward Kimball locomotive was added in 2005, and the Ernest S Marsh came out of a rock quarry. They weren't built but restored from the ground up and altered. I hope this helps. :)
Mr Toy Man, have you thought of doing videos of different model train layouts, I LOVE trains and I feel like that would be a great playlist on your channel, thanks. And also, did you personally KNOW Walt? Just asking
Wonderful, me and my son loved every moment of this video. He's 5 and loves trains, I got my degree in Animation and love Disney. I'm saving money to take him to Disneyland this year if I can. Been unemployed for 2 years so it's gonna be hard so we look at ur video to give us hope that one day we can make it to Disneyland and he can share in the magic.
I love every minute of this video too. I too love trains alot and I hope to get my degree in animation 'cause I love Disney. And I am desperate to go back to Disneyland and do my favorite rides a million times more and ride the Disneyland railroad.
Great job! Loved this. If you know what qualities to look for, you can see Walt Disney's personal vision of the spirit of Disneyland right at 6:14 in your film. That one little room says it all.
I don't know much about American narrow guage, I know lots about the narrow guage in North Wales but there is only one 3ft guage line there from Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion (if you do try and pronounce it, it is a wierd pronounciation due to the welsh language) though the Welshpool and Llanfair is much older and was for freight this 3ft guage line does look very nice, very nice video, very informative.
Hey Toy Man, during the last river boat segemt you start playing some orchestral music that for the life of me I cannot recall the name. If you get this comment I hope you'll help me out with the title of the music.
Hi. That’s Peer Gynt by Edvard Grieg There are like 12 pieces in this suite. That one is called “Morning Mood” one of the most popular segments. Also “In the Hall of the Mountain King" is another popular section.
@@ToyManTelevision Thanks you so much. My wife and I used to attend many classic concerts but here in TUcson that has kind of gone by the way. BTW we love you channel. 'Just now seeing your video from 2013. You had another fun and, in this case, enlightening adventure - thanks for posting it. The full story of Disney, his studio, his park and his railroad isn't widely known. However, since your 2013 park visit there has been two enlightening Disney documentaries produced. Another great public venue for learning the Disney story is the Disney Family Museum located in the Presidio in San Francisco. The museum is well worth a visit. BTW - One can visit Lucasfilm, which is also located in the Presidio.
I just want to make one small correction to your excellent video. The actual Lilly belle is on display at the Walt Disney Family Museum at the Presidio in San Francisco, not the CSRM.
HI Boy, I missed several things. At one time there was a Disney display at the CSRM. Not sure when it was taken down. Some track, the loco and cars. It's in the Presiidio? I WANT TO SEE THAT.
Yep, right before the last exhibit about his death. It's on display in the best, or at least my favorite part of the museum that represents the 50's-60's decade of his life. They actually have a special exhibit right now that's about his trains, I just haven't had the chance to go see it yet.
Music? UA-cam has some music on the site to use but I don't care for it. I use Smart Sound. But it's expensive! So I have usually found some way to get someone else to pay for it!! As a sound house and professor, been able to do that sometimes. Costs $50 for one cue!!! But then you own it forever, and can use it anyway you want. HOWEVER, by "shopping" their sales, I usually pay about $5 to $8 per cue buyout. By buying the whole CD, and buying 5 CDs at a time for $250. So $50 per CD with 8 to 10 cues per CD. I have about 200 cues now. Keep buying more too!
Thanks, Toy Man. I have used "Audio Jungle" audiojungle.net/?ref=meredithmarsh&clickthrough_id=728510756&redirect_back=true They run about $15 to $20 for some good tracks and the site is well organized by style and period. I have a whole bunch of other music too but I hardly ever use it anymore. The neat thing about smart sound is that all of the cues, are pre-cut into measures so you can rearrange it almost at random and not "and it still sounds great. The newest version of the software which I can't run on my older machines you simply tell it how long you want to queue to be I said in an in and out. And it rearranges the measures to fit the available space and you now have a Music you have an exact length.
Voice recognition software sucks. But I hope you get the gist from that. Have been to many of the railroads down there but most not for quite some time and really want to get back. Almost put two shots of Niles Canyon on the old video show. But I really don't have any good footage from there. Never have been on the skunk.
