I've always considered this scene the most important in the series. Both versions are full of emotion and drama, without being overly loaded with dialogue. One of the high points in the history of animation.
As important as this scene was for the series and the entire Gundam franchise as a whole, it's also much harder to watch it now considering what Amuro's original Japanese VA (Toru Furuya) did to his own mistress, who was ironically one of his own fans.
i'd say its main difference is in perspective. its from char's POV, so you get a different side of it to what you see in the series or trilogy, where we see from amuro's perspective.
yeah gundam showed war was hell and this one killed both of them. the 2nd one had the better song. I wonder which one she picked up at the end of chars counterattack given how both were pretty much toast roast and about to get baked (for realz) I also wonder who else other than these 2 would grieve for her also didnt char callher mommy at the end of that one?
Now about the Encounters in Space version? Is this the 1981/1982 original, theatrical audio? Or is it the 1999 remastered audio? I hope you read this comment and answer my question as soon as possible. Please. I need to know. And by the way, I love the 1981/1982 original, theatrical audios of the three movies way more than the crappy 1999 remastered audio.
It's the remastered audio. I'm in the minority of people who actually really likes the newer audio mix. Though, the original vocal performances are superior in the theatrical editions.

It haunted both of them for the rest of their lives and even in the afterlife
Well, that thumbnail you chose is absolutely terrifying. I mean, given the subject matter, I suppose it's appropriate, but still...
Char's differing reactions are especially interesting.
GF : OMG are you crying
Me : NO ITS JUST RAINING 😢
All three of them died in that moment unfortunately

it is sad and appalling that it happened, but this was many years ago. He may have been a different person back then.
Thanks for the upload!
I think if Sayla said that Char was her brother Armuro, he would've stopped and lalah wounldnt have to die
What about in Char’s Counter Attack? That’s even more different than the OG.

the audio in the movie section is the redub

@@tristanmock4915 Oh. And I thought you think the 1981/1982 original, theatrical audio is "overrated."
@@IsiahAllison I don't really agree since some tracks get flat out removed, but it's probably cool for when you rewatch the film.
nice
Original way better
