- This Bauer Worklight as a Secret!
HF gave us their new worklight to play with and I've been abusing it for going on two months now and I have to say... It's pretty bright!

Hey Bear...and you too, Jeff - - - At $60, it should come with at least one battery. And, by the way, will HF start with multiple tool combo kits? They should.
They recently had a coupon for a "kit" but everything wasn't in one box. Both Bauer and Herc.
I work for harbor freight and I love watching your videos I have learned so much about our items that I didn’t know much about thank you
Always gald to help!
Do you know when the 5ah and 9 ah batteries are coming??
@@YGMATTHEWKING Later this year
Do you know if there are any updates to the bauer line? I.e. are there any other tools they are going to release? Like maybe a twin battery charger... thatd be cool. As silly as it sounds, that's one of the main reasons I'm not looking more into the bauer tools. I like the hercules line and know they have one but I want a sander in the battery line I choose
Looks like a cool light! Happy New Year, Bear!
Thanks da bear! That’s just a bunch of dough for that solution! Not matter who is selling it. That type of product should sell for about half as much. My two cents my friend.
I have the Bauer light mounted to the ceiling above my workbench plugged in with a cheap extention cord. It lights up my projects nicely and I can easily pull it down and use it anywhere with the battery.
Love that new Braun shop light. I put one in my shop area to replace an older florescent set up and it's like having 3 times the light of the 2 bulb unit.
I just found out that I've been waiting for something that I didn't know I was waiting for! I only have one Bauer tool and 2 batteries. I really do like my impact driver, but now, I want this light. I've also been thinking about the Bauer radio.
Eventually I will be picking this item up myself thank you for showing a proud keep up the good work
I thought the secret would be it costs twice what it should for an HF tool
Bear I would drill a few holes in the bottom and epoxy some of the magnets they sell. That way you can mount to the hood of your vehicle.
I have the Bauer 20v ; Skill saw, Sawzall, Drill Driver, 1/4" Impact Driver, Blower. I like to get the Jig saw in the near future. I bought the Band saw a couple of yrs ago It does a good job. I bought the Central 10 gal air compressor and it failed me twice, no more Central period. Well maybe some! I bought the Mcgraw 21 gal and has yet to fail, good compressor. And If I keep on going we will have 20 pages of Harbor Freight tools that I have bought, so yes I'm a HF nut.
Now that's just excellent!
❤ the Bear. Love your content!
Another excellent review. Thanks
Hot Glue a couple of these to my hood on my F-250 and I'm ready for the Autobon~!! Would also look very stylish as a bonus. Love the dual voltages now they need a couple of usb ports added to be really trick~Thanks for showing the comparison with the shop light as I was wondering how bright it would be so now I can coupon one or two my way and junk my old Fluorescents. Good job Red~!!
For $30 at Costco I got the Caterpillar branded light that is plenty bright and runs plugged in with the included charger and cig lighter cords. Also doubles as a USB power bank. If I need more run time can scab on a few more 18650 cells but haven't needed to.
I think the Bauer with the investment in the high capacity battery is a bit steep IMO. I have a Bauer hammer drill with the standard battery. I'd have considered this light if it used the Lynxx 40 volt or the Earthquake XT impactor battery which I have both.
Yeah, it will likely go on sale but unless I see it on a parking lot sale 50% off I doubt I would be interested.
Should come with battery and AC line for that price. The versatility for angles and mounting is nice. Keep up with the cool videos. Love the channel!
I really like that HF is selling Bauer and Herc sans battery. I'm just kinda standing back right now to decide which battery system makes the most sense for my limited needs. If Bauer had a 12v line it would be a no-brainer. As always, thanks for the update.
Just the tip of more to come!
This video brightened my day.
Iv`e already been interested in this light and also expanding my Bauer tools but it seems a bit pricey now. Hopefully it will go on sale in the $40. range. Definitely would try it then
Good video bear. When bauer comes out with a soldering iron like ryobi i will be adding the bauer cordless line. Now i am in the menards cordless and pneumatic. Pneumatic is my main choice.
I reckon to be getting more into the Bauer line. I bought the Bauer trimmer/edger (It works better as a trimmer) and blower along with a 3ah battery. Then I bought the 3/8 cordless impact (I have a plan for the 1/2 version to keep in my truck). Now I’m seriously considering this work light. The Braun underhood work light is worthless. I use it now mainly for extra over head light in my shed where it stays plugged in.
Love the dual power source items. I like Bauer but they need to add a cordless multi tool, oh and oh and kits ;)
This is a great light for the price. I just got one. Comparing to my Bosch 1900, it has the ac option, it rotates more, has 2 brightness settings instead of one, is slightly brighter on high, and costs less than half as much. Build quality on the Bosch is better and the Bosch is definitely more compact, but this is a great deal. I mostly use it in my own shop anyways.
I use Baur in the camper can't wait add fun probably 2 them the light be nice addon. I like see them add 2 packs battery.
I have the Ryobi hybrid work light. Also $69 with no battery. I like the ryobi’s rafter hook which is handy.
Thanks Bear, I would consider this light, but I got the Ryobi dual power 2500 Lumen on as the free tool. after returning the batteries, it cost me $39.91 plus tax bare tool. Love the Ryobi!
Same here
considering picking this up
How would this light work to light a spray booth? Is there a lot of shadowing?
It's a LIGHT, try to keep info. shorter. Keep up the good work Bear.
Have you compared it to the Braun work light? I think 1500 lumens with only a high and a low. It’s lithium battery but can work with its charging cord. Would like to see how that compares especially since the the Braun is cheaper.
I know what you mean about the damn strobe setting. Why would anyone even want that? To get away from an epileptic axe murderer?
The simple reason is marketing. You have a switch and different settings so you have a little 4 cent micro in it already to drive the PWM for the settings. It is a free feature you can put on the box. Useful? Maybe to someone but since it costs nothing to add they often do.
I go outside once a night to load my boiler for overnight. I have told my wife that if she sees the strobe, I have hurt myself somehow.
Sub zero temps and ice, who knows.
I guess the purpose of it is for signaling
nice light. i like a talking bear my favorite. bauer has nice stuff.
Very cool
It doesn't seem this can be mounted easily to a tripod like the Hercules work light of this size. Also the vertical orientation is interesting. Are there other differences between the Hercules?
What are you going to do when you can’t plug in a 3 outlet extension cord?
*Pulls out a 1 foot, 1 outlet extension cord*
#LivingIn2099
No magnets, no battery at purchase, no cord from manufacturer, and it’s $60. HF is forgetting us guys who work for a living.
Who sells a light like that with those features at that price?
@@denoftools www.amazon.com/VOLREX-Portable-LED-work-light/dp/B07VCM561J/ref=asc_df_B07VCM561J/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385182471061&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9700401528410717318&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9014819&hvtargid=pla-827566107098&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=80210701324&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=385182471061&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9700401528410717318&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9014819&hvtargid=pla-827566107098 not exact, but you can buy two for the price of that light. No cord however. This is just one of many similar. The cord isn't worth an extra 20.00
Dude? Really? That is a nifty gadget but not in the same class. Hell it's listed at only 500L and likely less. Non removable battery? That should be compared to the Braun light I was talking about.
@@denoftools I get that. My point is simply that the cost vs. value is just not there. Not for something that doesn't fit in tight spots, isn't magnetic so it cannot be used under the hood without the hook, if it fits in a spot. It's nice, it works well, but it's a luxury item at best from a company that is known for its lower price points than competitors. I may be a lone nut here, I just don't see it. It's a situational tool, so if you can afford it, fine. But in my small DIY'ERS shop, my 20.00, 3 way magnetic rechargeable flashlight is going to get me a lot further for the price. And I think not selling a cord with it is even being cheaper on HF's part. JMHO.
@@denoftools Found something else. Screws into any shop light, magnetic or hanging, or light bulb outlet. Posable 3 panel light, 6000L 60W w/built in heat sink, as well as a safety cable that can be mounted to a base. Not cordless nor battery, but it's "light years" ahead of the Bauer in value and versatility, simply because it works with existing tech. AND it's less than half the price. For that much money, I can build a base and hot wire a battery pack to it when I need it to be portable. If it's me talking to HF, I'm telling them to wake up before they send a lot of us running in another direction. My bet would be that cost per item without battery is close to 10.00. I might be off a little so let's say 15.00. They can sell that kind of a piece at 75% off and still not lose money.
Gonna wait for Hercules to drop their light soon 🤞
Shine on bear!!
$60 for a led yikes. I'm a Bauer fanboy but that seems steep. I will continue to use free blue led HF lights. Don't take me wrong it looks nice but 2x the price it should be. Different if it came with a 1.5ah battery.
Ryobi's got a similar one at 70$. not sure why so expensive.
Bower offers a smaller light for much less money
I said the same thing. Walmart has work lights with the battery built in for 20 bucks. It can also charge your phone. I don't see the value in this light.
Led are expensive because there made with rare earth minerals.
Is the base got magnets on it? Cause all the Milwaukee and Bosch lights I use are alot more price wise but have alot better mounting options, clamping and magnets etc.
No.
I hope that they come out with a Hercules version of this. As I'm deep into the Hercules line
Nice feature, but not really anything groundbreaking. My Ridgid work light also works with either their batteries or an extension cord.
I noticed in the video comparison between the Shop Light vs the Portable Light - The Portable Light does not flicker in the Video. The Portable Light can also be used as a Cost Effective additional/stand alone Video/Photography Light.
I use it for a photo light almost ever day. I bounce it off the ceiling to defuse it.
I'm fully invested in Milwaukee, but if this light pressures Milwaukee to reduce their prices, more power to 'em.
Doesn't seem to have the mounting options that the Milwaukee have, and the single led array isn't anything like Milwaukee or Bosch have done except in "flashlight" style lights, which ain't anywhere close to what this "worklight" is hopefully useful at.
Ain't got the mounting options Bosch or Milwaukee highlight and only single led array, could probably compete with default for abilities in the "jobsite light" nomenclature cause everybody but black and decker ha has way better offers at +20.00 that are game changing.
I hate the strobing (is hate too harsh a word for something like that?). I know the chips used are all the same, so they get the effect for free, but sheesh, how often are people going to use one on the side of the road?
Wow, that would light up a Cave, I mean a Den, well..... you know what I mean!
Seems high price but leaves room for future coupon plays I guess.
You can melt a Gremlin with that light!
would be lovely if they actually did this on some tools. or make an adapter like dewalt has for thier miter saw or matabo with their ET36AM MultiVolt adapter where you can literally turn a cordless tool into a corded tool. bring the batteries but if there is an outlet then plug it in.
Looks cool but I'm going to pass at that price especially with no battery included. Looking forward to the cordless heat gun review once that comes out.
I'd really like a Big Clive teardown.
I can see harbor freight charging just like snap on in the near future.
I have the bauer and the Ryobi battery and tools
Any news on the batteries? 5ah and 9 ah
later this year
Who makes the best planer?
Bauer, when it's $250 is the best budget planer. The best midrange is the DeWALT for $500 and for a big one I'd get a Grizzly
I dont care about price rather how many lumens and HF should create q stand for this
HF has a 1250 lumen for $25 (coupon) with a rechargeable battery built in. I'm thinking $60 is way too much money. A 100 watt light bulb is 1600 lumens so this like really isn't very bright.
HF needs to bring you over some LED shop lights
I have some, I just need space to hang them.
Man if anyone puts led light through hell it's at my work. We run Hass CNC machines and we run them vary hard. So the lights are always going out on is. There on for 20 hour's a day. They get corrosive coolant and vary hot aluminum chips throwing at them constantly. So they last about 3 month before we need to put new ones in.
Hey Bear
I cant sink my teeth or claws into the bauer or Hercules line.
My opinion
I Cant buy individual peices.
Too much money, and without much of a warranty.
I can't even recommend it to new hobbyists.
Yep, that's too much... needs battery included. Then I will buy it!
Here’s what Hank Williams would sing
I was a fool to wander and astray
Straight is the gate and narrow the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the lord I saw the light
Is herculeas comeing out with a jobsite radio
Yes
I thought bears have excellent vision in the dark?
You got unlimited cosmic power as long as you pay your ligth bill 🤣😂
Or hook up a 100w HF solar panel with small inverter. 😜
Those led hanging lights are awesome. I have 2 wired to the light switch, in the garage. So far they work in 0' weather.
Pricey tho
As compared to what? Have you seen what DeWALT and Miwaukee charge?
@@denoftools for a temporary light its alot the shop light is cheaper
Red, would you increase your audio level a bit in your videos? It is well below most other videos from other channels.
Yep, I'm using a new editing software and trying to find the right levels.
At least when you buy Ryobi 18v you get two 3.0 batteries, charger and a bag and all you have to do is pick up the light for free and the price on that 99 bucks plus tax.
I knew someoen could not help themselve. Ok, now what did we say about comparing sale prices vs regular prices? C'mon, you know the answer to this one.
uhhhh wheres the secret? It would be cool if it could be daisy chained or it could charge the battery while being plugged in.
I don't understand why these companies that make these devices dual power don't make them as a battery charger as well! Triple purpose!
$60 without a battery? Who do they think they are, Milwaukee?
No the Milwaukee would be $120
Is the secret the missing "h" in the title? I'm a professional nit-picker and just had to point that out 😆
How many grammar police does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
@@BigBubba89877 The answer is: too grammar police to screw in a lightbulb
Lost me at 60 dollars
You might try a computer power cable.
The end that doesn't plug into the wall wouldn't be compatible.
@@rickferris6987 The Bear is using a three prong power cable. The computer cable is the same, just not polarized on the light side plus the plug on the light side is much smaller.
@Hoser Man, the male end of a PC power cable is compatible. The female end is three equal sized slots. None are polarized, as standard extension cords are, and the ground connector isn't round, as on a standard electrical cord. They are designed differently on purpose, even if I don't know what that purpose is.
@@rickferris6987 I understand that. You need to look at the plug system on the light on Harbor and you’ll see that the male plug is non polarized. Anyway, I said “try”, nothing was said it was going to work.
@@arkyump Ok, I get it now. This light is ungrounded, which allows use of the PC power cable. I would think it would also make the light somewhat hazardous to use when plugged in at a wet location.
You could put a cup of noodles or a Hot Pocket on the old 500 watt halogen and cook them while you were working for lunch you can't do that to these new LEDs
You also can't get 3rd degree burns becuase you grabbe the wrong part of the light.
@@denoftools the halogens also acted as heaters to warm up the job site which the LEDs absolutely cannot do
I just don't see the reason for an LED unless you're working in a tight and close space and don't want to Hot Light
@@thecloneguyz Pros of Halogen: Cheap and bright. Cons: Uses a ton of electricity, hot as all hell, breaks if you look at it wrong and can do so in a violent manner. I giant moth land on the glass on my last one and it exploded. Sent glass shards flying, got one in my arm. Nothing like white-hot glass in your arm. Led Pros: 10% the power use, doesn't get hot enough to hurt anyone, doesn't break, doesn't burn out, even light, can be battery-powered easily. Cons: Expensive, can't cook hot pockets on them.
A bear with a tattoo????
You should consider placing an array of those Harbor Freight LED shop lights that look like fluorescent tube lights across your shop ceiling. www.harborfreight.com/4-ft-led-hanging-shop-light-64410.html
I bought one to replace a broken fluorescent and it was impressive.
Unfortunately now I can see all the garbage in the corners of that side of the garage.
Well that is what I was comparing it to in the video. Issue is clearance below that rack and the garage door.
The Den of Tools, Mine is just on one wall but I think 4 placed on two sides or Three on 3 sides might give a person who doesn’t hang a ton of ladders, scaffolding, and garbage like I do good coverage.
But I have to run a lot of lights to get around all the obstacles I hang from the garage ceiling.
I'd be scared that of my house would burn down I wouldn't leave a harbor freight tool plugged in and on for a month straight of my house
That makes no sense
Oh just like ryobi
I see you're using your human as a product model again.
60 bucks , i rather buy mikita platform
The fact you need an adapter to plug it in lost me. Doesn't make sense for a work light.
You don't if you have a regular extention cord. The point was what if you have one with multiple ends on it.
As
whats the secret? that its overpriced
i like your videos but this didnt have to be 10 mins long
Most of my viewers hate it when I do short videos. Also YT pretty much requrires your videos to be 10-20 mintues.
