    I used to own a vegan restaurant and also worked as a chef at an all plant based wellness center and so many non vegan people loved the food and opened up to incorporating more plant foods into their lifestyle. So many people have the misconception that healthy vegan food taste bad so it’s always nice when people come up to me and ask for the recipe

    Awesome video! Reading about the benefits of veganism is really what got me into this way of eating in the first place. Dr. Michael Greger's "How Not to Die" was THE book that did it for me. He is definitely a vegan superhero. Thanks for always making great content!

    Hey there, love your content. Asking as a dentist; please provide your rationale for the non-fluoridated toothpaste. This is unfortunately an extremely common talking point among “influencers” that very few fully understand. While some ppl are okay without fluoride, I commonly see misinterpretation causing more harm than good

    • @TheVeganGym
      @TheVeganGym  6 місяців тому +3

      Thank you for sharing your perspective 🙂 I appreciate your input!
      I don’t question the benefits of fluoride use in reducing the risk of dental caries. But based on the research I’ve done, the benefits of fluoride use (reducing the risk of dental caries) generally don’t outweigh the potential risks (nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea for acute cases of fluoride toxicity and renal and cardiac dysfunction, coma, and ultimately death for severe cases).
      Based on my understanding, it really comes down to how much fluoride is ingested, which is why I am heavily opposed to water fluoridation, especially as an athlete who consumes a lot of water (I use a fluoride filter for my water for this reason). But if fluoride is used topically and not ingested, I am not opposed to fluoride use. And I am by no means an expert in this subject, which is why I recommended in my video that everyone do their own research.
      I would be very curious to know how much fluoride is ingested by adults on average from fluoride-containing toothpaste and mouthwash. I am not aware of any such research. Then, I would want to understand if that average ingestion level poses health risks. Perhaps this is only a real issue for children as more than 80% of fluoride toxicity is seen in children before the age of 6 years.
      I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    • @Pernacular
      @Pernacular 6 місяців тому +1

      @@TheVeganGym thanks for your reply. Rather than writing an essay about the potential risks/benefits of fluoride, I find it more effective to recommend an alternative. Nano-hydroxyapatite toothpastes are showing a lot of promise, and while they don’t yet have “long-term” data, not much does in the world of toothpaste (other than fluoride). Hydroxyapatite is a component of our enamel, and it’s pretty neat that we can just scrub our teeth with something similar and it works well according to current literature.

    • @markkozdroj9778
      @markkozdroj9778 21 день тому

      Instead of asking for his rationale, you should have just given your recommendation. He wouldn't have needed to write an essay and you wouldn't be wasting your precious time reading something that you had no interest in anyway

    Is egg whites safe on a plant based?

    • @rachellemckeown3332
      @rachellemckeown3332 6 місяців тому +1

      Plant based is a pretty loose term. You can technically say, "I eat a primarily plant based diet" and still eat animal products occasionally (they just wouldn't be the center of your meals). Veganism, on the other hand, isn't just a diet, but a lifestyle where you don't consume or buy any animal products. I say I'm a bad vegan because I cook vegan (with the exception of honey in tea) & try to purchase vegan beauty products, but not everything I eat or use is 100% vegan. No one is perfect though, so if your goal is to go vegan, focus on adding more vegan meals instead of subtracting certain ingredients, like egg whites

    Another suggestion for deodorant that is something I feel like I can never go back from now that I've done - make your own using coconut oil, arrowroot powder, and baking powder. You can add your own favorite essential oil if you want a scent (I personally like using patchouli). It's stuff that most of us have in our cabinets anyway so they serve a double purpose, plus it's so ridiculously cheap and sustainable. You only need to just smear a tiny little bit of it on and it works extremely well!!

    With plant protein, you shouldn't recommend these. Lentils, beans, chickpeas, tofu, but not soy curls or fat-free peanut butter. Soy curls aren't that nutritious except protein and that PB is not a common product.

    Hippeas are so good. It’s also nice that they are baked, have 4 grams protein, and 3 grams fiber. Waaaay better than eating Cheetos.
