- You sure can and it works amazingly well!!!
As long as you have internet via vehicle or phone hotspot you can make this work.
I originally tried an AppleTV but some finicky power issues led me to using the ROKU instead.
Thank you for this!
Also I have an HDMI to USB converter and it's now showing up, can you help me on this?
Helpful. Appreciate your time.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Got the same truck. Roku Yeah!!!! On it now. Thanks my guy!
Let’s goooo! 😆
How Did you get it to Show on the front Screen? I CANT FIGURE IT OUT, SHOWED ON REAR SCREENS FOR A BIT BUT WENT AWAY
Screen in the front dash only works when in park and you select media(I think). Rear screen should work when you select AUX input from the rear screen.
Plugged my roku into 2018 yukon hdmi input. I tried both power by usb and power by usb to 110v adapter. It worked at home in garage but once on the road it did not work. I have wifi through gmc/onstar which works with other devices but could not view roku. I got to the main screen of roku where it shows the apps using hdmi as the video source etc but couldn’t access content
Sorry, not sure why it's not cooperating. My 2016 doesn't have HDMI but not sure if that would cause issues. I know some HDMI cables can't handle streaming as well as others but you can't tell them apart. However if you're using the one that came with the ROKU I wouldn't think that would be the issue. However the cable is a cheap place to start. We do get connection issues depending on the cell service in the area.
I'm having the same issue with my 2017 Tahoe
Same on 2018
Any fix? Im having the same issue with my yukon xl.
Just thought of something else…make sure you’re hooked to your Tahoe or Yukon hotspot and not your home wifi.
Also I have noticed spotty hotspot performance based on cell reception as I drive around.
Thanks for video
Can you cast to the roku from your phone?
Great question, never thought of it. The answer is YES.
I just connected to my Yukon hotspot and used my iPhone to screen mirror via Airplay and it worked.
Looked at some of my pics and played part of a movie. It’ll be dependent on your connection speed but it did work.
Hi I really hope you see this. I can not figure out what setting to put it on to get it to work from the a/v jacks. Please help anyone
When you cycle through the input options with the screen up front or the remote I’m pretty sure you want the AUX input.
@@skalnican I think I have the wrong kind of cord for the Roku I got because it will not show up when I put it on aux 😩 I had to wait way too long for this cord to come for it to not be right 😑
@@janellereed3679 oh bummer. The cord I have uses the RCA cables (yellow, red, white) that go to a box. That box has a female HDMI plug you plug the Roku into. The box must be powered to a USB plug. Mine also has an NTSB and PAL switch on it. Make sure it’s on NTSB if you’re in North America. Good luck!
@@skalnican thank you. What I got doesn’t have the box it’s just one end male HDMI one end male RCA cords. I deduce that it must need the converter box to work 😑 thank you for responding.
So we only have one sub connector up there & I noticed both devices have a USB port. Where did you end up booking the other usb to give power to it??
I realize this is late, but still wanted to reply. I ended up using a dual USB adapter in the 12 V outlet on the back of the center council.
I couldn’t get my audio to switch
I found the option somewhere in the menus but I think I had to have the entertainment system on and running. I was able to have the entertainment system play to the headphones while listening to whatever I wanted in the front. Sorry I can't check now, my entertainment system has stopped working. I need a whole new celling unit.
Hi, the converter hdmi-rca is included in your roku tv?
Nope, had to get it separately off Amazon.
Hola!!

Thank you, I'm sorry I wrote this in spanish, I go to try it in ur way, Thank u
@@melvinmarroquin5356 no need to apologize. Technology for the win! Hope you get it working in your Yukon!
I hope that too, thank u
I bought a USB HDMI Adapter and plugged the Roku to it, thinking it would also work on a tundra. It didn’t.
Bummer! Don’t know if you don’t try. Sorry it didn’t work though. 👎🏼
Can you give me the links to get both items?
Heres the ROKU:

Here’s the adapter: a.co/d/1UHEagw
Thank you 👍👍
I did everything you did and it did not work can you help
Just saw your comment. Sorry it’s not cooperating. A few thoughts…
Have you paid for the vehicle hotspot option through GM and is the Roku hooked up to that? The vehicle needs to be running for the hotspot to work I think. I also had to turn the system on via the front screen. Went to the entertainment tab and turned the rear screen on there. The RCA plugs seem finicky. If you have color bars try fiddling with those. Make sure both the Roku and HDMI adapter are hooked to power. I used a splitter on the 12V outlet on the back of the center console. Try driving around. Sometimes your vehicle doesn’t have a great data connection based on your area.
Hope that helps!
Are you still able to use the radio up front while they watch tv in the back?
Yes. We have the GM headphones and they work great. Kids can watch in the back and I can listen to whatever I want in the front.
