Charles Dutoit is, without any doubt, the best conductor of Scheherazade. It isn't rushed. It isn't too slow. Each note is perfect. Musically superior to any other version. Fantastic!!!!!!!!! Thank you for this excellent post!!
Amazing how the recording engineers capture here the depth and remarkable bloom of this orchestra in a way that I have never heard in any of their recordings on the London label. Yes, I have never been a fan of the recording venue (church?) used for their recordings .....
Ormandy. Eugene Ormandy. There appear to be no really listenable recordings of his Scheherazade on UA-cam, but even the flat, wretched mono things he made for television build the work up into something altogether different and fine. Terrible recordings, phenomenal performances.
