Astro Bot - PlayStation's NEW Platformer Mascot?

- For years gaming has had its icons. Some of them apart of the adventures larger than life that we’ve undertaken and played through. Amongst them all, the most iconic of the PlayStation crew was once a Bandicoot named Crash.
Time has passed since those days but now, Astro Bot has everyone hyped and it occurred me talking to someone and them asking why. I realized, some people have yet to experience the very game that comes available on a PS5 from day one. A game that has proven that not gone are the days of the PlayStation Platformer mascot. I wanted to make this video to talk about why I loved Astro’s Playroom so much when opening that PS5 the day came it out and why a kick on instant nostalgia can have so many people looking forward to a simple platformer about a tiny robot and to also take a small dive in to the history of Platformer mascots in PlayStations history.
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video.
Please consider subscribing as I'll likely be doing more discussions and reviews of a similar nature in the future. Any feedback in the comments is happily received.
Hope to see you again, real soon!

Crash bandicoot was a Playstation icon but was never owed by sony to become an official mascot.
This is correct. I don't think I stated that Crash Bandicoot was owned by PlayStation or Sony in the video but apologies if I did.
The character belonged to Universal Interactive (along with Spyro funny enough).
Thanks for highlighting anyway.
@Liquidizer_96 You did not, I just wanted to clarify because a lot of people think he was and that sony sold him to activision for xbox to then purchase.
I never been this excited about a new game coming for years
And i know it's going to be amazing ❤.
I just got the platinum for this 2 days ago. i love that playroom is like a playable museum for PlayStation. goin through the history of PlayStation since 1994.
PlayStation has a habit of creating mascots or using Third-Party characters that define that specific generation.
For PS1 it was Crash, Spyro, Snake, Lara Croft, Sir Daniel Fortesque, PaRappa, Spike, Dart & Sweet Tooth.
For PS2 it was Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, Wander, Ico & Dante
For PS3 it was Nathan Drake, Cole McGrath, Joel & Ellie & Sackboy
For PS4 it was Kratos, Aloy, Jin Sakai, The Hunter, Knack & Kat
And yes I know Kratos originated in the PS2 days but the PS4 is where Kratos was at the peak of his popularity.
preordered the new game the second i could
Bro dropping bangers since the beginning, keep it up
Very underated vid loved it
Appreciate you!
Astro Bot was the first game I played on my PS5, and it was also my first PS5 platinum.
Super Mario is and will always be an incredible platformer. It was the first of its kind, but that is not why the series of games holds the crown for best platformer. The controls are responsive and rock solid. In a genre of gaming that is based around “platforming” and traversing… saying the controls are important is an understatement. The LittleBigPlanet game series was very creative and fun but the controls were clunky and floaty, making it slightly a chore. Astro bot on the other hand is very responsive and smooth, very close if not the same to Super Mario. And it also shares the same craftmanship as Super Mario which is a very Japanese game studio skill. Astro bot looks incredible and will probably become a well deserved series.
PS: Sackboy: A big adventure is a solid platformer. The controls are more defined than its LBP origins. If you haven’t given it a go, it’s great.
Agreed, good points to make.
Asrtro is goated

It happens several times at the end of the stages with multiple blasts of the past, not to mention to memorabilia you collect ticket every nostalgia box imaginable.
I also failed to mention the reference Bots in the video that are dressed up all the way through the game as various characters from different game franchises!
We need sackboy back!é
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a pretty fun coop game that I have played a small amount with my wife. If you haven’t already you should give that a go!
"Long Live The King" Astro Bot-To sackboy on the day of his release.
You forgot sly cooper
@@x.a.n.a6377 I didn’t forget so much as I just didn’t think him AS popular as the ones I mentioned. I probably thought of Gex earlier than I did Sly personally.
It is all relative to the individual though, appreciate the Sly shoutout!
@@Liquidizer_96 ye, sly is extremely popular it's weird cause he has gone completely under the radar.
@@x.a.n.a6377 I don’t think I ever actually played any of them myself but I am aware of them as some of my close friends have fond memories of them 😊
@@Liquidizer_96 if you have a PS5 or PS4 you are now able to buy the original sly cooper and the thievious racoonus for about 9.99 USD it's great, they even added a rewind feature as I think it's emulated.
Crash doesn’t feel good 💀
