  • Pedal Through invites us into the world of director-lead Analise Cleopatra as she discovers the healing and joy of mountain biking. Analise had never camped or ridden a bike off the pavement when she decided to plan a week-long mountain biking adventure with an all Black female team: her best friend and fellow newcomer to the sport, DeJuanae Toliver, and professional mountain biker Brooklyn Bell. Together, they traverse the Oregon backcountry on an adventure full of exploration, curiosity, waterfalls, old growth forest, sparkling starscapes, and deep healing. With raw authenticity, Analise shares all the intimate foibles, fear, fun, and beauty of discovering her place in the outdoors. The landscape opens to greet her as she learns to lean into uncertainty, accept support and trust herself on this wild ride.

I'm a white hispanic male cyclist, but as a cycling addict, what I care about most is seeing everybody catch the cycling bug, regardless of size/color/sex/orientation/able-ness. Even after 13 years of regular cycling, I still come to new realizations about how much cycling keeps me on a good path. During this covid-lockdown, I've realized that I function best when I keep riding as a foundational stone that the rest of my daily life is built around. If I stop cycling, then that daily life slowly starts to crumble, and I find myself slipping (sitting around, eating too much, watching too much tv, procrastinating).

@@girlsnightout6969 Thank you for your comment, but who said that I don't get out much? I see people, especially black folks, outside biking all of the time. I'm even out there. What I was referring to was mountain biking in the backcountry. No, I wouldn't think to go out there personally because that doesn't interest me. But honestly, do you see anything on mainstream TV or any other media platform that highlights POC, really black people, doing this? I haven't. Inspired beyond words, my mixed son made a comment the other day putting himself in societies classified box. Watching this was just the affirmation needed, our spirits are too big to be contained or categorized.

Great video and Congratulations on your first and hope many more bike packing adventures to come. The hardest part is just taking that first pedal stroke and facing the world out there. Good job, great narration. Love the music. Keep the wheels spinning.💚💛❤️ good luck.
