I collect vintage speakers and individual drivers. Lightweight paper cones with the ridges in the cone often sound better to my ears with drums and lower midrange than similar drivers with smooth cones. Especially at higher volumes. I assume it's because of the extra rigidity it adds without adding weight to the cone. It might not look cool, but it works
Now It would make sense to review the HDI-1600 next although they are pretty expensive if you have to buy them yourself. I hope ELAC gets back to you and sends the DB6.3 for a review for free!
The Marantz Cinema 30 is definitely and extraordinarily nice piece of gear but the AVR-X3500H while nice you can get used for under $350 these days. Which for a receiver that has atmos, eARC, and full set of pre-outs is a steal.
I wonder the same thing, and also I am pretty sure the HDI series is about to be replaced, the inventory on them seem sto be running out on some websites so I am going to wait and see if there are new speakers coming out and if so review them instead of the HDIs.
Save your money on the 698, I have a pair that I bought two years ago. They are way too bright, great sound stage, but only a little bass. There are way better products like the svs prime pinnacle
Another song to complement "Chocolate Chip Trip" Is "Caramel Prison" by AIR. Towards the end a sound should approximate circling around your head. In addition.. Linkin Park "Session" at 0:54 pitches a sound behind you.

I think this series of JBL is very attractive. I would still prefer the grill on
The grills are *not* acoustically transparent. I can tell that they dull the sound a bit.
Hi, May I ask you what stands these Speakers are sitting upon? Looks like they go well.
just some adjustable height stand from amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2KKQ5MH?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
You have some extraordinarily nice equipment. I hate when people keep the hype stickers on though, but that's your choice.

Need to review Emotiva Bookshelf speakers soon. You will find it's a better build speaker the the upcoming Martin Logan...
I wonder how different they are compared to the HDI 1600?

I suggest you test these speakers much more thoroughly, as Generationhifi has. The speakers measure very poorly.
