Introducing my New Mocap Suit | Rokoko Smartsuit Pro II

- This is the Rokoko Smartsuit Pro II, a full-body mocap suit that can be used in your bedroom,
toilet, kitchen... basically anywhere within WIFI range. It comes with dozens of sensors
to accurately record your movement in 3D, to which you can map it to your 3D characters.
I've been dreaming of using something like this for years - any animator knows that
hand animating anything can take days or sometimes weeks, even just for 1 scene. Every year I would google something and I would only see things like using your old Kinect to do motion capture or some iPhone app, but now I've discovered this. I recorded the intro animation in 45 seconds.
Join me as I do stupid tests like kicking things and dancing alone.
And remember, any of my future animations will now be mostly acted out by moi.

It's crazy how far technology has come. Back in the day, this used to be exclusively available to big budget studios, and now, it's in the palm of our hands (well not really palms, but you get the point)

Big budget studios never used Rokoko suits for their animations. Almost all mocap you've seen in high profile projects, is optical motion capture with markers with Vicon or OptiTrack hardware. A suit like this doesn't come close. But, you can use this in your bedroom and afford it. 🤷♂️
My SIM card can probably play Cyberpunk 2077
@@Biru_to Something like ipisoft is already offering "affordable" optical mocap using a handful of Kinect or Pseye, however the license fee of the software is at a whopping 695+ USD. It's cheaper than a set of this Rokoko thing, but still.
@@matchc0635 For really budget their 195$ license, or Brekel Body 125$ are actually pretty decent. I'm contemplating a 3-4 azure kinect dk set up for indie stuff.
You can really feel the passion that Podel has for animation in this small tech demo. Keep going good sir can't wait to see what's to come

I'm a huge fan of how this video is simultaneously more serious and still has the signature chaos of other Podel productions, particularly how $838494739 of RTX cards gets abused

This makes me think of VR fully body tracking and that technology, this seems a lot more expensive and more advanced though. Excited to see what you make with this new fancy tech

Did you measure the magnetic field strength in your room with a phone app? If yes, what kind of readings did you get?
Seeing 4:36 most of the sensors on your suit are reading green, apparently many people who buy this suit have to refund it because their sensors are screaming yellow and red from ambient magnetic interference that ruins all chance for motion capturing.
I haven't measured anything yet, I just made sure I'm not near my speakers or anything + turning off Bluetooth as well, idk if that even helps

Quite a useful tool, can't imagine how expensive somthing like this is.
combining this with a vive tracker (or alternative) to get accurate positional information would really help with the slippage you are experiencing.
though not sure if that is an option.

personally i think lighthouse based tracking is a better option, not to mention it enables full vr capabilities not just tracking... but i guess it depends on how cheap this kit is because it def doesn't compete in accuracy
