We were concerned about her grandmother, so they showed her grandmother with her. Good to see her, post-operation.
I'm not sure I agree with you regarding the recording of the video...or whether the "quality" of the video even matters when compared to the quality of the audio. I think the studio has been supporting the growth and development of Angelina's career as much as possible given the constraints the family has placed on this. Go slow and grow... I feel the focus of these cover releases should be on letting Angelina experience studio productions without unnecessary pressure. In my opinion I think Angelina has made wonderful progress in experimenting with a variety of vocal techniques, and always bringing musicality to the fore. I am in my late seventies, and as much as I would like to see an explosion of material, new and old, I am content to watch this human vocal flower blossom slowly and perfectly. I know I will never live long enough to see Angelina become what she is fully capable of, but...like watching a peony open, the beauty is there to hear and see...
I agree with you. I did agree with Nathan when he said he liked Angelina's version better than Adele's, because I think no one does Adele songs better than Angelina, including Adele, but like Nathan's 'opinion' on all the technical aspects, that is just my opinion and means little, other than to me. Angelina has done things her way since she was 7, and I don't see any reason for anyone to think they know what's best for her or her career. Again, their 'opinion' is just that, and I believe whatever she is doing, is what she feels is the right way to do things. I look forward to enjoying her voice and to her doing things at her pace and her way, for as long as I am on this earth.

@@nyima04011 Yup. I can't help but think that Stargate is writing music for her as we speak. At least I hope so. They are great and can easily produce that ONE hit Angelina needs to sky rocket into fame. We'll see :-)
@@nyima04011 I think it was Beyoncé, Sam Smith & Angelina were the only ones out of more than 30 top artists they had worked with that could record a song, top to bottom in 1 take. Stargate (Mikkel Eriksen & Tor Hermansen) has won 4 Grammy's & has 17 nominations & they only work with the best.

What I believe is a simple thought, any artist that needs much perfecting in the studio will not be able to perform as well live. That is why Angelina, I believe, sounds incredible live, because she is simply incredible. No other artist has given me the emotions and love for music that I receive from her. I claim nothing as far as being knowledgeable about production. I am going by the fact that for me, Angelina has been doing this for years with phone recordings. Just a thought from an "angel" that believes in Angelina's voice and heart. Thumbs up Nate.
Angelina is a one-and-done performer. Her performances are done in one take.
Perfectionist tend to want things perfect and tend to sneer at folks that don't live up to their "standards". I have been known to an analytical perfectionist myself at times. When you try to be too perfect, the artistic expression can sometimes suffer because you are busy trying to be perfect.
I love that Angelina is gutsy enough to experiment and let us watch the process. Her imperfections are perfect in my book. She sings with feeling, emotion, and empathy.
I feel so blessed to live during her time-- being able to witness such genius. She is simply beautiful in every way.

Good show Nathan. You may get some push back regarding your observations, but I agree with you. As you know, this video was dropped just days after Adele's original release. Apparently, it was felt that Angelina needed to get a "quicky" out even at the cost of some quality. Even so, this video is, in my opinion, arguably as good as Adele's full production. What this means (to me) is that the emotional vocals of Angelina is so extraordinary as to be nearly beyond words.
Angelina's Christmas Concert that aired on the 23rd and is available through the 31 of Dec, with the quality and history of musicians that were involved, it shows how much Republic Records believes in, and are willing to invest in’ our Angelina Jordan’s unbelievable talent. She is one of the greatest talents the world has experienced! The concert was magic!!!!
Nathan if you do research you will find that Angelina is a one take singer , she does not need to piece meal her performances to get perfection in her vocals , she is perfection first time when she is ready to record. The two guitarist who played for her in her younger years, Egil and Ivan have testified to the fact that if there was more than one take it was becuase they messed up, not her, as well as others who have worked with her in recording. She has done many songs a little different each time, such as 'Fly Me to the Moon", but each one was a masterpiece for her and perfect in one take. Quincy jones also testified to that she was one of the few artist who had that ability.
Hi Nathan. It's always nice to see you reacting to Angelina's jobs. I think I understand what you mean about production in general. I imagine that, as is almost usual, the musical part must have been recorded in a single take and then for the video they must have done a few more takes, which is what directors usually request, except when it is a large production, with dozens of cameras and a lot of staff involved (something Angelina surely deserves and will be made available to her at some point in the future). For now, they are small big leaps that Angelina has been taking, while her power and vocal characteristics do not stop evolving and improving, impacting even those who might be "used" to the quality of her musical selections, her delivery and her performances.
I also believe that, being a person with her feet firmly planted on the ground, Angelina knows how to prioritize the management of resources and evaluate what is necessary, or enough, to invest for now. In fact, in some of her latest tiktok (leaked to UA-cam) you can see a leap and maturity in her voice, even greater than the one we can see in this video, which is a lot to say and expect from any artist today in day. So even her best work quickly becomes "out of date." I know that it is an expression that should never be used for an Angelina job (almost a sacrilege), but I mean that no matter what we can assess at this moment about this person full of genius ... in a short time his advances and apprenticeships place these essays in the category of "material for biographers." We can appreciate the best of Angelina day by day, month by month, year by year and it is spectacular to be able to witness something like this.

This was, in fact, probably shot in one take - that's the way she usually works. I don't know what you're finding fault with; the production value of her real videos is just what she needs. 😎
The following is meant: Take a look 🧐 e.g. at 5:16 here she has her hair a little in front of her right eye. Then comes a cut and at 5:17 the hair is brushed back and probably clipped on. The same in reverse between 3:04 and 3:05.
Agreed. And she is known for recording in one take..."flaws" n' all. I personally prefer music that way. Why does it have to be tuned to so called perfection? I would rather listen the rawness and slightest imperfections. She sounds the same in studio as she does live. Which is more than we can say about most artists these days. Total respect to Angelina and the way she does things !! Beautiful and simple...Would NOT change a single thing! Perfection to me!
No, there are obviously multiple (at least two) takes since the cameras used to shoot would have to be very near each other in some parts of the video and that would not happen. They would be getting in each other's way. Plus they probably used only one camera because of budget considerations. One take on the vocal recording, yes. But not the shoot.

Angalina is with Star Gate, on of the best out there. This video however was done on her own dime. One of the the producers said she is one of three they ever worked with that do a whole song from start to finish in one take,also in her earlier day's both her guitarist stated almost all her songs were done in one take, unless they messed up😳
Yes so true and we all know that. Not sure what Nathan is talking about. Considering she is footing the costs of a video like this pretty sure there are not a "bunch of takes". Also, this is Angelina's style which is Classy and simple without all the crap the less than talented ''singers' use these days to "sound" good. This is who she is and hopefully will always be. Keep the flamboyant productions for the likes of solely less talented like Cardi B, and so oh so many more out there these days.

The pure emotion was oozing out of her whole body and every word she sang was so meaningful. I think we were all in shock when we first heard Angelina’s rendition of this song as it was like it was made for her.I enjoyed your reaction to eating and thank you very much

I enjoy your reactions, Nathan. None of us here actually know exactly how Angelina's team and RR have agreed to go forward. Regarding team talent, Rob Christie and Cole McCarthy are among the best in the business. Cole came on board for the third version of "7th Heaven", the "official" video. She and Rob seem to have formed a tight team, and I'm personally not convinced that Stargate are still involved in the production. A couple of the better vocal coaches picked up possible post-production "effects" added to "Million Miles" by Stargate. We don't know if she was aware of that, if that's the case. Her uncle produced "Billie Jean" and "Yesterday" and the difference in camera work is obvious. I've been delighted with everything she's done with RR.
Hi there Nathan. Thanks for supporting Angelina. - I believe you're wrong. I'm pretty sure this was a one take recording, as normally is the procedure for her. There are three minor imperfections timing wise and vocally that would otherwise have been polished off. As to the "quality" of this video, I think it fulfills all its intents and purposes, in that the focus is supposed to be on her vocals, and nothing much else. I've also heard that Angelina is actually paying for these studio versions from her own pocket, which in that case could be another reason for the production being somewhat simple.
I have to say that I personally am very happy with this video,and I don't think it needs anything more tbh. My 2 cents :-)

@@nathanlongwell And then the artist sings at a "live" event and the fans flock to it in anticipation of their idol delivering the same quality of performance and hear all those imperfections which have been removed in the studio performances and feel they have been "short-changed". Not for me under any circumstance. Let Angelina remain Angelina, "raw and with perfect imperfections".

Thanks for the reaction and the details you pointed out. I have a preference for these barebone recordings even with the imperfections: those perfect imperfections so to speak :-) For me those make it more real. Adele for instance lets her voice break which is a musical imperfection but makes it better for me. Though I didn’t hear it, overloading a mic should not be part of that of course. You might enjoy A Million Years Ago, All I Ask and Born To Die.

Thank you for another grand reaction to Angelina, although I would question some of your remarks :-) When it comes down to it, it is entirely dependant upon what we are looking for. Do we want the "raw" Angelina with her "perfect imperfections" or a "manufactured" Angelina where all imperfections perceived by the producers are removed? I'll vote for the first on every occasion, otherwise she will become "just another pop singer" and that would be a tragedy to my mind.
I completely agree! We have been longing to hear a human being and not a sound board! IMHO, I don't think that Angelina's voice should be touched at all. None of the past greats that she has so wonderfully covered (1930's through 1950's at least) used "studio magic" to enhance their vocals. Frank Sinatra once told a member of a sound crew on one of his films, when they asked him to do another take because they thought they may have made an error, "You want to hear mistakes? Go buy one of my albums, there's a million of 'em in there!" Nobody complained that recordings done back then weren't flawless, we all loved them anyway. I sincerely hope that, outside of the genre of EDM songs, which Angelina has done once, that her voice is never altered electronically! I want to hear her, and the humanity of her voice.

@@nathanlongwell Yes, it was meant to be, and I had my tongue firmly in my cheek when I typed it. :-) However, I strongly believe it should be up to the artist whether any adjustments are made to the raw recording, and there should be no pressure put on them in an endeavour to "persuade" them that "they" (the sound or video engineer or, indeed, anyone who is involved in the production) knows best, because they are the professionals and have their fingers on the pulse on what the listening public desire. See my answer to a comment from poolshark about the disappointment fans must feel when their idol performs live.
She is doing all these new studio recordings just like she did her utube videos in one take and on her own dime and we true AJ fans love her for them . Also remember she arranged this only days after Adele released her original and she is only 15 and her parents are keeping her blossoming star on a low level key for a good reason.
Are you dissing Republic Records? Angelina chooses to do live recordings and doesn't mind the human quality rather than overly perfected production. We generally like it too.

While she's not selling millions of records yet and her budget is still limited, they have to set priorities. IMHO the video quality is good enough for the moment. There's no need to get heavily into debt just to get the last 10% of potential from the video. I dont notice it as much as you and I dont really care as long as it sounds good to me. Some imperfection has a charme on its own in my opinion.
Just to your info she is 15 and signed already the biggest music contract in history so whatever she will do in the future there is no need to hurry for her she is the best already.

First of all. I like your new channel look. Angelina Jordan is "Next Level Event" Your right (I think) She should have the best around her, because her vocals are on another level. No one effects so many the very moment she opens her mouth.
It is my understanding that this was, for the most part, a live studio performance. With a voice like hers, let's not ruin her performances through processing with autotune, etc. and take all of the life out of them, please!

Personally, Angelina is my favorite singer story teller. Her vocals are not perfect by any stretch, nor do they need to be. We angels often say her imperfections are perfect. Hopefully Republic Records will continue using the raw, usually first take, and not try to make a song perfect.
Totally agree. We want - no we "need" - the "raw" Angelina, not a "manufactured one just to satisfy the low expectations of the current listening public.

Nathan. So, you're saying that this video was a single take, and Angelina still out did Adele? That would be some serious high praise. BTW, I think your comments about this composition as a piece of music in and of itself have merit. It can seem a bit drawn out and "sing-song-y." Angelina does give the piece all sorts of variety to ameliorate that effect, which is to her credit. I appreciate your comments. There is some deep analysis there, which is additionally significant being a reaction format and off-the-cuff. Very well done.

Have to disagree with you. Angelina shoots for simplicity which allows us to just focus and be captivated by her voice.
And no I am sure their were not a lot of takes, as she is known as 1 of only 3 artists who do their songs in 1 or 2 takes.

There are those reviewers that claim that there is excessive postproduction done to the vocal track in Adele's original and while I can't spot it there is something artificial sounding to me when I compare it to some of the covers including Angelina's. Angelina intensified some of the emotional rawness of the original and it had much more impact to me. Another girl Aina Abdul went in another direction and sang it in a sweet melodic sound with clear lyrics while retaining a lot of emotion which many prefer over the raw less well enunciated Angelina version although I think that Angelina's approach was a better interpretation of the meaning behind the lyrics.

With an Adele song you get pure, soulful Adele. When Angelina covers it, the big difference
is that in addition to her own jazz inspired technique, she uses nuance and inflections from
Billie Holiday (breathy releases) and Amy Winehouse's 'raw' form of unique jazz elements.
Because Angelina's chameleon ability allows her to emulate (mimic) any singer, she is able
to incorporate the essence of Adele's vocals as well. This brings forth a 'four pronged' attack
instead of the 'one pronged' attack Adele provides. There is also the plain fact that a non-jazz
singer, even one as good as Adele, can't match the permeation of the human soul that a true
jazz singer can, and in that genre Angelina sits atop the heap of artists, for sure.
Don't say "mimic"..this is not pertinent..talk of inspiration Ok, fine. All Artist have been inspired by predecessors. But not mimic or she will be only an imitator.Sorry but she is her on her own right..She is a "vocal painter" ..and her palet is "endless ". She is unic. Usualy singers have "one colour " but she has it all. She is the epitome of singers. So the word mimic has no place here.

I can't agree with you about dislikes. First of all you should build up your own opinion and for me personally there is no reason to give a dislike at all. Why embarrass other people? Just jump to the next video. There are so many haters out there who have fun to dislike everything. Regarding Angelina just read the posts from the others there's everything said.
I think you missed the boat...its shot with 2 maybe 3 cameras same time one shot
Were the closeup shots of the piano taking at the same time as well? If so, why can't we see the camera? If you pay attention to the placement of her hands from shot to shot, you can tell that they were from different performances. This doesn't take anything away from Angelina's abilities, it's just how films are made.

I agree with you. At the end of Adele‘s video she’s there laughing. Angelina sings the song so you realize how sad the lyrics are. Adele has had success with the cool rider in the past. In my opinion, she just doesn’t come across with the emotion that Angelina does. 🌺

With Republic records it's not collaborating with Sam Smith Beyonce and Rob Christie who is the chief Talent officer at Republic records Republic also represents Ariana Grande so she isn't really good company as far as being able to develop her Talent even further I think she's going to be an absolute Superstar

I know nothing about making videos or sound production. To me, as a novice, this video doesn't look broken into parts and the sound is great. But, if you, as a professional, noticed these things then it may come across true aficionados as a sub par video and should be corrected. It's unfortunate that Republic Records, who put their name on this video would allow this! Lets hope that future videos with the Republic name attached will be superior so that it will be taken more seriously. Thanks Nathan
There are two diametrically opposed elements at odds here. On one side are the video and sound engineers, who notice what they consider imperfections in an artist's performance and make a decision to remove them so that the listener only see and hear what "they" consider the very best. The other side want to see the artist as he/she really is and hear what they sound like "in the raw". There can be no meeting of minds on this. For me the first is "false" and the second is "true" and I loathe falseness.

Good reaction, but have to disagree with you that there a bunch of takes. I've seen to many interviews by Musical Artists and Producers, that she almost does every performance in 1 or 2 takes. In fact some of the Producers claim very few Artists have that capability! God Bless!
Can't agree with you. I hope and I am quiet sure it's one take ! Here you have what she is. I hate that "kitchen cuisin",who consist to take bits and pieces. Sound not perfect...ok . So what..the truth is here simple and naked. Her true natural genius will always shine through. You should leave that dreadful need of technology to those who need it...and I agree there is quiet a few out there (especially in that mainstream lot) who have an urgent need of autotune, filters etc...So it's not because they need those petty arrangements that all singers need too. And AJ certainly not..I hope she will stay in that state of mind.. Whatever you say this is cheating, lying..I love perfect imperfections from genius like her, hope she will have the nerve to fight for that.
okay. after listening to your assessment of the video and sound quality, i think you need to explain to the watchers just what recording and video recording studio you work for and show us some of your work. since you obviously want to criticize the qualities of this and other videos as if you are a pro at it. come on show us your video production and sound quality work !

Nate, I'm not sure what you were watching, and what you were listening to on this reaction. I have watched quite a few of your reactions, but now you have totally lost me. Just so you know I'm not a novice, and I'm not new to performing, singing, and recording. Angelina signed the contract with Republic Records and they are the ones who are producing these videos that are the in studio. Angelina Jordan is basically known to be an in studio wizard. she rarely ever does a lot of takes, and that has been stated by professional people that she's worked with. from a child she has learned to be a consummate professional and always comes to the studio completely prepared. down to her little bones she is a consonant singing, and performing artists. there has never been anything where they've done her recordings takes over, and over again. I'm totally not sure what you're referring to in that regard. She's 16, and if they want to take the another four years to just show her extremely gifted ability to sing, which is the most important thing, and which is why she always, for the most part, has stripped down versions of her performances of these covers. Her vocal quality is superior, and on par with anyone on the planet. Republic will do, I'm sure in the proper time of her overall development as an artist, a full complete album of her works highly produced. but it is not time now if they want to guide this child properly into the ocean of sharks who swim out there in the music business. even from a child and up until now with Angelina it's always been about how her singing makes people feel in ways they can't explain, and that is the intangible essence of her, and her talent. She doesn't need all that hoopty-duty show business crap to burn her out before her time.
If you’d like a can clarify.
When filming music you have to do several takes to get the different angles, and good coverage for the final video. I am sure most likely Angelina did only one take for the recording of this track, but film-wise, this was definitely more than one take. As a filmmaker, I was making note of that fact.

Yes. I am knowledgeable on camera work, and editing music videos, and what I was referring to was the obvious multiple takes in this video.

It's obvious the video was done with multiple takes. It was then assembled to match the vocal track. As for the vocal track who knows how many takes there were (well the producers know). And does any of this really matter? No.
Sorry you really don't know Angelina then she does them in one take the majority of the time if not all the time!
I agree with your assessment. I wasn't quite impressed with the song nor Adele's delivery of it.
